Shouldn't the subject line end in a "?"?

Since it is the 50th...... How about a duet with Shirley and Adele?
I think it may be possible to do such a thing... Maybe not those exact people, but the idea of using an iconic Bond figure in music and mixing it with a popular artist from the newest generations time would be ideal for profit gain and notoriety for the Bond series to sell more ticket... It would be a smooth move indeed.

Said it before, I hope such a thing never sees the light of day :-<

Bassey is a pivotal figure in Bond music, but I think like the Blofeld character, it's something best left in the past. Sincerely hope the Adele girl doesn't get the job of the Skyfall theme, it's just something I wouldn't feel comfortable about, you can say what you like, but that's how I feel about it

I like the idea of a current artist, such as Adele, doing the main theme and Bassey doing a song for the end credits.

Casino Royale was truly great in that it has a super Chris Cornell soundtrack and the traditional James Bond theme at the end for the credits, it was almost perfect

Maybe we can't expect something quite so good this year but if they can manage it, well...

David Arnold/Chris Cornell Song!! ...David Arnold Score!(Soundtrack)
"Truly Great"....well its one of Davids better scores!

And.... Thomas Newman is the Composer David Arnold could only dream of being, so have a little more faith!! I think you will be pleasantly surprise!! :-B
  • I'm very much in the 'Hope it's not Adele' camp, I loved You Know my Name, absolutely hated the Jack White/Alecia Keys, to this day it still sounds like three different songs have crashed into each other.

How about Buble does a Matt Monroe 'From Russia with Love' style theme...?

I liked Arnold. I really hope he's back for Bond 24.

Are you like, an insider or somebody who has been working on the film? Because you seem pretty certain.

    Are you Thomas Newman?

If it's Adele I'm fine with it. I don't have any of her music but oddly enough I think she's right for a Bond song. Can't stand Buble with his faux 50-60's big band stuff though.

Problem with Buble is he has absolutely no swagger and his voice just is not that powerful in the way Frank or Dean or Matt Munro was. Those guys all had that swagger, not Buble. I don't understand what people hear in that guy. He's not a handsome guy or dapper either for a crooner (again part of the swagger). Buble=no thanks.

I think Bublé is all that, and using a word like "swagger" insults them all. Obviously he won't be as good as Frank (best entertainer ever) or Dean, they were the top tier. But he does justice to their songs, and songs of so many other amazing icons like Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Sammy Davis Jr., and so much more.

There's a difference between being an imitator and the real thing. All those artists conveyed the whole attitude of the music they presented. Perhaps "charisma" is a better word for you? Buble just doesn't have that charisma that these greats had and really just an imitator. He doesn't embody that whole persona.

I think I will be happy enough with Adele to sing the title song. It's not that I am a big fan, but I cannot find anything against her that would make me oppose to the idea. When Amy Winehouse was rumored for QOS, I was against it for one simple reason: she couldn't work anymore due to her addictions. Adele has a voice, that's already good enough, and she seems even pleasant to work with, from the little I read about her. But what really matters is a good song. If the theme song is well written and has good music, then I am sure she can sing it.

Bublé is just cringy. Smarmy, in fact. His self-obsessed obnoxious arrogance rubs off onto his voice, and listening to him makes me angry. I used to like him... but now everytime I hear his music I can only get the full-of-himself attitude.

Just a personal opinion, of course.

Adele, on the other hand, could be fantastic.

I like Bubble, Adele & Bassey for the next titlesong, even if my preference remains Adele with a lot of imput for the person who wrote so much of her last album.

I would like the title song to be co wrote or written by newman so that it can be lighty incorporated into the soundtrack throughout the film and also a return to a different song over the credits instead of another bond theme or remix of the title song

Haven't the Stones been going longer than James Bond himself ?. Jagger, Richards, Wyman etc must have been playing to dinosaurs going back far enough

A truly epic group recognized the world over but I think any opportunity to do a Bond theme has surely passed, the 1960s would of been most appropriate and could even have replaced Tom Jones for Thunderball, but from a 21st century perspective, any chance now seems dead in the water, but even now, I'd give them a go over that Bubble kid or Adele herself, but it simply won't happen

Great news for her! I congratulate her sincerely. But i don't think that will stop her for doing the song. Because most likely, the song has already been recorded with whoever is singing it.

    Congratulations to Adele!
  • I think she got the thrust of it.
