Time to wrap this baby up, here are the final results:

    Results
    Casino Royale: book
    Live and Let Die: book
    Moonraker: book
    Diamonds Are Forever: book
    From Russia with Love: book/tie
    Dr. No: book
    Goldfinger: film
    Thunderball: book
The Spy Who Loved Me: tie
On Her Majesty's Secret Service: tie
    You Only Live Twice: book
The Man with the Golden Gun: book

    Clearly nothing (almost) beats Fleming.

    Book: 8
    Tie: 2
    Film: 1
    Book/tie: 1

The only exception is GOLDFINGER. Ties were achieved by ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE and THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE received as many votes for tie as for book.

Thanks for your votes, chaps. See you around!

Happy with all the results. I wouldn't change a thing on this list!

Thank you, @GoldenGun, it was a nice thread indeed! :)
Not a tad surprised by the results myself. All makes sense. :)

If there are as many votes for book as for tie, then the book wins in my book.

What's interesting, for me, is where the ties come from. I can only assume that for OHMSS, we consider both film and book great stuff (as is no doubt the case for FRWL too). And for TSWLM, I rather think it's more a negative vote thing. Many people are so-and-so about the film and not too impressed with the book either. But I could be wrong of course :-).

Well, @Birdleson, I love that novel too. I merely thought I was part of a vast minority of people. :-)

It's a very interesting read this thread.
Personally I can't compare the books to the movies, I never do that.
