    1. Dalton

With only two movies he showed us how the Fleming Bond can be put on the big screen without abandoning the stuff that Moore was so great in.
Dalton was more realistic, harder but at the same time charming and witty and had a great sense of humour.
With TLD he got one classic Bond movie.

    2. Brosnan

While Brosnan did not add something new to the role, he mastered perfectly the balance between everything that Connery, Moore and Dalton were great at.
He got the looks like no other and the right moves. He was highly entertaining, fun and believable. For many (in my generation) he is the epitome of Bond which I always get confirmed when talking about Bond to people in my surroundings.
With GE he got one of the most loved Bond movies.

    3. Moore

Moore is Bond and Bond is Moore. Like no other he took the role and made it his own. He played virtually himself and succeeded at this. His movies are fun to watch, highly entertaining and he got everything from over-the-top (MR) to realistic and more serious (FYEO).

    4. Connery

While he is the one that made Bond into an iconic figure and has the best movie of them all (FRWL) objectively speaking, I never was as fond of him as I was of Moore or Dalton or later Brosnan.
He is the hardest to rank for me, but that has to do with the age of his movies. The 60's seem to stand apart from everything else style and quality wise.

    5. Craig

As for now he is clearly below the mentioned above. He is one-dimensional and masters only the physical and serious stuff with brilliance and believability that even tops Connery in that department.
With CR he got one of the best Bond movies ever, but that is more because of the great team effort of CR, director, cast, cinematography and score may be the best since OHMSS.
With only 3 movies of which QOS is one of the least good of the franchise it is too early to tell where he eventually will end up. He could go as high as No 3 if Spectre and Bond 25 will be as great as CR.

    6. Lazenby

Up to QOS he was my No 5 above Craig, the sole reason for him to have the last place in the ranking now is OHMSS being his only movie.
IF he had made another one as great as OHMSS he could be my No 2 as I do like how he acts in OHMSS.

Great observations for each of the actors.
Maybe the 60s are a bitt off putting to you but next time you see Sean Connery think of him as the Classic version of Pierce Brosnan and maybe he will gonhigher into your ranking

Pay more attention to his acting in your next Bondathon and i bet you will see a lot from Brosnan in him.
Pierce took the best of his predecesors but its clear his biggest influence was Sean Connery and the how similar i find them ( Pierce and Connery) is what keep them both in my first place.

Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan were the two most well rounded portrayals of Bond and i think it will pass a long time since we'll see something like them again.

And the classic era of Hollywood is a bitt off fir me as well. I loved Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Sound of Music and i have a bitt of a dificult time connecting with the actors but Connery is my exception.

I dont find him of Putting at all actually he is the only Classic actor that can fitt perfectly in modern hollywood.
If we had a time machine and Young Sean Connery would be making movies right now he isnthe only one i could see him succeding with the modern audiences like he did in the 60s.

I feel sorry for Brosnan... don't disagree but he had wished for Bond for so long.

Had the filmmakers been further along I to their learning curve then maybe things might have faired better.

Things faired quite well in that era.
GE is a classic like CR and TND is quite better than QOS.
And just because now all is serious and character driven doesn't mean it's necessarily better just different.
The Craig fans should come down their high horse for a change.
And by the way neither CR nor QOS were more successful than any of the Brosnan films, only SF elevated to higher levels.

I agree TND is just a straight forward Bond film ...I don't know it gets hounded to the degree it does all the time.

I actually liked it better than GE. Brosnan had matured a bit into the role.

When I get paid I'm getting the Bond box set and will rewatch the films in order. I want to get a new take ...see what I missed.

The first hour of TND is Brosnans high point in the role. Its down hill from the halo jump.

If ranking the actors by their high points in the role:
    1. Connery
    2. Craig
    3. Dalton
    4. Moore
    5. Lazenby
    6. Brosnan

And if ranking by their overall body of work in the series, then I'll swap Lazenby and Brosnan.

    This man knows what's up:

    1. Connery (his role)
    2. Craig (no hope of catching No. 1)
    3. Dalton (my favorite, can't be No. 1 with 2 flicks)
    4. Moore (grown on me with time, but still the other type of guy)
    5. Brosnan (would be higher had he stopped at GE)
    6. Lazenby (one-shot, probably owns last place in perpetuity)

    Beautifully summarized.

Here's mine (as of now - may change after ongoing Bondathon).

    1. Connery - owns it
    2. Craig - as close as we'll ever get to 1. again
    3. Moore - redefined it
    4. Dalton - should have done more and he'd be my 2.
    5. Lazenby - against all odds, he pulled his one shot off beautifully
    6. Brosnan - inconsistent and never quite got a grip on it until the end when it was too late

Good list, and nicely summed up.

If ties weren't valid your ranking is way too similar to one of my rankings
I have three ways of Ranking the Bond actors.

    Here are all

    The ranking with two ties

    Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery
    Daniel Craig and Timothy Dalton
    Roger Moore
    George Lazenby

    My ranking without ties

    Pierce Brosnan
    Sean Connery
    Timothy Dalton
    Daniel Craig
    Roger Moore
    George Lazenby

    My pair ups ranking

1 Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery
2 Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig

I didn't realise you like Moore that much. That's great. As I am having a Connery/Moore Bondathon with 11 movies already watched (in random order) I have found (again) a new appreciation for his work, he really is marvelous.
May I ask if you have a favourite movie of Moore?

My favourite Moore is either Spy or possibly OP. I think OP is one of the most underrated Bond movies.

Rog is a star. Always great fun to watch. Craig doesn't really come close IMO, although I do think Craig is a decent enough Bond.
