I'm of the Generation of Peter Capaldi and from precious interviews, I think
I share many of his same opinions. I'm a little younger than Mr Capaldi ( but still
gorgeously Handsome ) and Like him, I'm a huge Jon Pertwee Dr Who Fan. I grew
up with him as the Dr, and Capaldi even based his costume on Pertwee's .
For Me personally part of the charm of the classic series is the lack of budget.
They did some amazing stuff on very little money.
I'm so happy that all the classic episodes are available on BritBox it's great to go
back and re-visit them, and I have the modern era on downloads from Amazon and
Google movies along with all seasons of Torchwood I even own the
two Peter Cushing movies. So I think I could be called a fan :)

I see Whittaker and Chibnall have announced they'll leave in Autumn next year. Which is a bit of a relief I think, especially in Chibnall's case.

I'm not a big NuWho fan in general, but I initially had hopes that Chibnall might give the show some solid plotting, rather than try to go big like RTD and Moffat were prone to do. Unfortunately, that turned out not to be the case - I thought his first season poor, and I couldn't build up the enthusiasm to watch the second. I don't know what Jodie would have been like with a better showrunner, but I think she's suffered from a lack of quality behind the camera (from what I saw of her first season), which is a shame.

I wonder if the BBC will consider giving the show a rest, or if they've already got someone lined up?

Yeah I don't think she's great at all but I would have been happy to watch her in a series written by someone else. I'm really glad he's going though.

I think they've already pre-sold at least a couple of more series around the world, so I think they're likely to keep on.

I don’t feel that Jodie was right for the part, based on what I saw, but I would have given her a chance to work with a competent show runner. Maybe it was Jodie ill itting the role (IMO), or Chibnall’s approach to the show, that was the real problem. We’ll never know now.

I must admit, the last episode of his final series was the last good DW episode for my money. In some ways the perfect finale for the whole series.

I tried watching Jodie for several episodes but feel she never really fitted the role. She lacks ( admittedly only in my opinion ) that odd quirkiness, that all the other actors had
in playing the role. You only have to watch Capaldi, Tennant and Smith, in a short time they owned the role but Whittaker never did.

I agree, although I blame her less than I blame the really poor writing. She's never even been given a good line that I can recall.
She is quite charming and has personality, which is something. I'd like to have seen her under a better writer.

The best actors just seem to become the Doctor. Pertwee and Tom Baker from old Who, Tennant and Smith from new Who particularly. Whittaker feels like an actor playing the Doctor. Jo Martin displayed more charm and charisma in one episode than Whittaker has done in 3 years.

Thanks @mtm I didn't know they were on Spotify. I've only heard the few broadcast occasionally on one of the BBC digital radio channels. I'll definitely give them a listen.
