Sod Sherlock, give me more Doctor Who.

Even the potential heir of the show is involved with Sherlock, namely Gatiss.

Yeah although I do like Sherlock I think I would prefer a full series of Doctor Who.
  • What I'd like is just one Sherlock episode per year. That'd be better than waiting 2 years for three episodes, and it'd take less time to make, meaning they could probably squeeze out an unsplit series of Doctor Who.

I just treated myself to a couple of early(ish) Christmas presents from HMV. - Doctor Who 'Beneath the surface'. Three classic stories, two with Jon Pertwee - 'Doctor Who and the Silurians', and 'The Sea Devils', and the other with the fifth Doctor - Peter Davison 'Warriors of the Deep'. I also got myself another of Jon Pertwee's stories - 'The Green Death'. I'm going to have a classic Doctor Who marathon tomorrow night..

I have the titles mentioned myself, and with the exception of the Davison serial, they are well worth your while. The Davison is quite allright but the monster kept making me laugh and pulling me out of my suspension of disbelief.

Jon Pertwee is one of my favourite Doctor's, and 'The Sea Devils' is also one of my favourite's. The Peter Davison one was just part of the boxset, but i'm mostly looking forward to all of my Jon Pertwee adventures..

Pertwee was a great Doctor, he's one of my favourites. If you ever wondered what a hybrid of The Doctor and James Bond would be like, look no further than the 3rd Doctor.

I'm watching The Silurians at the moment, I agree that Pertwee was a great Doctor.
  • Lots of Christmas spoilers. Sounds really good, very excited for this.

If this is true there's one thing I don't understand
He becomes an old man after 300 years, but hasn't Matt Smith's doctor already lived for at least two hundred years? Why's he suddenly aging now?

Also Raquel from Only Fools is in it.

@thelivingroyale watch the show in about a months time and afterwards you can put the question out again. Most people do still have too see this episode first in order to attempt to answer anything.

would state based upon earlier regenerations that it has little to do with age and far more with the suitable actor playing the role. For me so far we had 13 cracking actors that did well with the job.

This all sounds very good, great in fact. I can't wait for Smith's swansong.

I wasn't expecting an answer, I was just wondering :) And I agree that his age doesn't really matter.

After they got the name of the episode wrong in the link in @thelivingroyale's post, you'll have to excuse my scepticism on the other details in the article.

The Time of the Doctor is on at 7:30pm on Christmas Day. A much better time than last year's 5:15pm.

Yes, indeed. As I said on another forum, it seems Auntie Beeb learned her lesson.

And here's the trailer for the Christmas season, with clips from the episode :

No, she'll be back in Series 8 though.

Really? I think that's a shame. I thought the series 7 finale was a good send off for her and I'd like it better if Capaldi had more of a fresh start (I'm happy Clara's staying though because I like her).

We've still got the Singing Towers to come and having Capaldi and Kingston act opposite each other should be a treat as they're of a similar age.

I can't wait for Capaldi. We're in for an acting masterclass I hope.

Just finished the book SHADA by Douglas Adams & Gareth Roberts, a hoot and some more.

Well advised reading concerning the Doctor, the fourth one in this case.

    12 actors... Colin Baker doesn't count ;)

I think that Colin Baker has been unjustly been considered the lesser Doctor, I do like some of his serials and he plays a lesser sympathetic version which is original and daring.
But in his BF days he has become a tour de Force, and has done some of the great audioplays like "The One Doctor", or even his adventures with Doctor Evelyn Smythe and even Charlie, who started out with the 8th Doctor.
Colin Baker is more than a worthy Doctor. imho.

Pretty cool poster! Be nice for Bond to go back to this sort of style for the 24th adventure?!

Though I have not listened to his audios (for the time being I'm only interested in the 7th Doctor audios), and despite some bad decisions made during his era, Colin Baker is one of my favourite Doctors.
