And that was the news for today. Ah ,there also a rumour that "Power of the Daleks" would be animated for a DVD release, but as there's no official declaration from the BBC yet, I'll take that with a big grain of salt if I were you. It would be good if it happened, but don't be too hopeful.

I would be fine with an animated Power Of The Daleks, at least we would have the original soundtrack, and it's better than not having the story.
Now that is cool! Wonder if i could get DC to send me a message on my wedding day? :))

Oh yes! Making room on my DVD shelf for this. Excellent news. Love the 2nd Doctor.
This is excellent news. I guessed that they would do the whole digital thing first (which i'm not in to) and the DVD a little later. So at least a petition isn't needed this time. Another Troughton story for the collection. :-bd
And we can tell you that : 1) the first two episodes will air on the net on october 22nd 2016, and 2) The Doctor will appear in the first episode :

BTW : "The Coach with the Dragon Tatoo" ? Wonder where they got that title from ;)
Logical, I think.
Oh, and the Doctor will receive the Mister Men treatment :
radiotimes.com/news/2016-10-11/doctor-who-gets-the-mr-men-treatment-in-series-of-12-bbc-books
Long overdue !
And the synopsis of the third episode has been revealed :
"Nightvisiting
London is infiltrated by an eerie alien with the ability to morph into the shape of lost loved ones.
Tanya has an unexpected visitor come to her window in the dead of night – and she’s not the only one, as Ram and Miss Quill face their own startling visitors.
Confronted with these emotional encounters, the team must overcome the persuasion of this strange new threat, and battle through the streets to stop Tanya from being lost forever."
I'm getting a positive vibe from this show.

I love the ninth teaser.
BTW, if you can't catch the series on BBC 3 or BBC 1, and don't have access to iPlayer, you'll be happy to know that "Class" will be available on iTunes. At least, it will be on the frenhc iTunes, I checked.
One question for those who watch the new series, does it feature UNIT and the Brigadier on occasion?
Agreed. It was a great way to get a good classic Who. I know there are DVDs but budget dictates what I buy. When the Horror Channel were showing these episodes it was a great fix.
Yes, UNIT first appeared way back in the first series of the new series and have featured in nearly every series since.
But the Brigadier is, alas, no longer there, mainly because his actor passed away in 2011. He appeared in one episode of "The Sarah-Jane Adventures" though, but the closest the Doctor (Eleventh version) got to him was in "The Wedding of River Song", where the Doctor phoned the nursing home Sir Alistair was in, only to learn that he had passed away a few months earlier. Oh, and there was "Black Rain", where the Brig's body became a flying Cyberman and saved his daughter who had been pushed off a plane by Missy (the Master who had become female). Now his part as leader of UNIT has been taken over by Kate Stewart, the aforementioned daughter, played by jemma Redgrave (and Beverly Cressman in two spin-off videos).

Caught the first two episodes (no need to tell you how), and loved them. The cast is very good (special mention to Catherine Kelly, who plays a teacher you love to have), the characters are engaging (some having or obtaining something extra), and although some parts feels like known territory, others challenge expectations. I will definitley buy the DVD, and not just because I'm a hopeless completist, but because I like the series.
And there will be supplements too :

Yes, it's as awful as it sounds, @stag.

These images were kept in the programme’s production files by the BBC Written Archive Centre. Getting this story on DVD is the main concern, but they're also throwing in a decent amount of extras, just makes it even better.
