In other news, it appears marijuana will now be legal for recreational use in California. That's a step towards freedom, as far as I am concerned.

Though yet another gun control measure will seemingly pass and as a recreational shooter, this will be another big hurdle for one of my favorite hobbies.

Well he is out for himself far more than anything else, yes. And I guess the anti-Semitism, anti-nameyourethnicgroup will be quietly continued yet swept under the rug of "change is good." He definitely is out for himself and the rich, yes.

Well, sorry women and minorities, your rights will be taken away. He doesn't like that you ever had them in the first place.

Indeed, @Agent007391. And for so many others, too ...

My friends are now asking me what it means to be an American? They are sad and confused. I am honest with them. But this is not a day to celebrate, if Trump wins, and it looks likely.

Ensuring that the Economy starts working for more folks throughout the income scale and that there is more job security.
    Good luck with THAT fantasy.
Don't be so cynical. They've run the economy for 8 years with money printing, bank bailouts and letting the $ depreciate for much of it. That's not a recipe for sustainable growth. It has only created global imbalances, income disparities and massive asset bubbles (particularly in housing). Fiscal measures are required, and I've always believed that only a Republican president could cajole Congress to get that through (the Congress would block any Democrat spending measure).

When they analyze the results I believe that they will see that the margins with African Americans and Latinos for Trump will be much closer than they were forecasting.

Oh and NASDAQ and S&P 500 have halted futures trading for the time being. Because they are tanking. Dow futures had fallen more than 800 points.
Stocks in Japan have also plunged. Temporary shock we hope, of course.

We shall overcome if Trump wins. Because we have to.

Let's hope Impeachment proceedings begin immediately.

Well we can rest assured the Democrats will do all they can to counter Trump's worst tendencies. That is all we can hope at this moment. But they, and all people who voted for Clinton (or other than Trump) will try our best. We will need to work together, just stay strong. It is still our country, after all.

Clinton is projected to win the popular vote overall, but that does not win elections.

He doesn't even WANT the job.

I know; it's funny. He never ever truly wanted the job, @chrisisall. Funny in the most black humor backfired against our country and moral fiber that is.

It's all down to the Electoral college now.

    1. ACA is repealed. Millions will be suddenly left without health insurance or will have to pay out of pocket without gov't subsidies.
    2. The Iran deal will be repealed. Hostilities between Iran and Israel will increase.
    3. The new SCOTUS judge will be put in place. Roe v Wade will be challenged and overturned. Abortion will be illegal in the U.S.
    4. Marriage will be legally defined as being between a man and woman.
    5. Dodd-Frank will be repealed.
    6. Taxes will be slashed even further on the wealthiest 10%. The military budget will increase dramatically. The federal deficit will skyrocket.

And these are just the small things that'll happen.

And a new civil war will be brewing quite fast. The American dream.

If the Democrats cannot stop Trump, and no Republicans with a conscious or morals do not stop him, he may have that kind of series of effects, yes, @TripAces.

    I just read this:
Danger of tonight is not just legitimizing Trump's norm violations but reorienting US party system toward this racialized axis of conflict

It is not okay. We need to keep speaking up.

@Murdock, he's won the electoral college. They are just dragging it out.

    And this:
And Trump is not the worst of what's to come. It's what he ratifies with victory. Open racism, sexism, violence, intimidation, terror.

So it is up to us, as a country, to make sure he does not get his way with many things. We have to try our best.

They don't HAVE to vote for him. Just sayin'.

    What does that mean @Murdock?

He's won the electoral college. They've just not announced it yet because they don't have the necessary statistical certainty. It's probably Michigan and possibly Pennsylvania too.

They can't announce what isn’t yet confirmed fact.

Fair enough. They've been burned before on the early calls. This one appears to be going in one direction though in the rust belt.

Oh it seems Trump will win. It is just up to our country to do something about that. I mean that in the most constructive, democratic ways.

People voted for a change. Period. Damn the morals and consequences.

No, it is more than the DNC, @chrisisall.

They probably backed the wrong candidate. That was clear to many of us at the start. They missed the mood of the country.

I blame Comey and the FBI. All was going fine until eleven days ago. While polling was off a bit, HRC had a commanding double-digit lead that suddenly shrunk to nothing after that letter.

    Sanders wouldn't have defeated Trump.

Sanders would have lost. The tidal wave for Trump has other things at its core.

No, it is more than the DNC, @chrisisall.
They f***ed Bernie over with the help of corporate news. Then in their arrogance they thought they could do good damage control.
Like most who hold degrees in this or that but do not understand real world workings they are being surprised.
    And we foot the bill.

It is definitely more than that, a lot of underlying and often ugly reasons.
And if Bernie were the candidate, I would have gladly voted for him.
