What country would you like to be the MAIN location for BOND 26?

    So Moore, to be precise.

I wouldn't want a very down to earth backalley meeting USB flash drive containing spy malware files to justify the plot either. A product of the mid-two-film Craig era which makes me yawn. I'd leave that to Jason Bourne and Tom Clancy universes.

Look guys, it can be done. Nobody thought Bane or Catwoman could be done again until Nolan proved them wrong. Nobody thought a down to earth Joker was possible either (compare what we got in 2008 to the rubbish we were given last year on this front).

At the end of the day, it's all about the execution of the vision. Screw that up and one has a mess. Nail it and one has an instant classic.

I'm not calling for MR redux. Space travel is a distinct possibility soon though and is going to change the world in many ways. It would be nice if Bond delivered a mature take on it first, before someone else does. You can see that space oriented films are making a comeback too. As with everything, it's about how one does it as much what one does. It doesn't have to be the main plot point - just a secondary one.

I'd much prefer that to some of the predictable surveillance gibberish, irrelevancy of spies (they are more relevant than ever and anyone who follows geopolitics realizes this) or idiotic soapy brotherly love and hate that we've been getting lately.

Your idea won me over with this one, mate.

I must confess I'm not thrilled about seeing Bond venture back into space. Fleming Bond was never qualified for space travel. Despite what the near future may hold, space travel is still something for the select few, with extensive training involved.
What possible reason could there be to send a British Spy, a government assassin into space?

That is the big question, and is precisely what someone with vision & creativity can devise. This is not a subject to be touched by an amateur.

I'll admit that my confidence that EON's current writing team could pull it off are slim to none, & certainly not with Craig's Bond.

Also, I wasn't suggesting 'Bond in space'. I was suggesting that the concept of space travel and the implications can form a part of the plot, along with some scenes relating to this (they could even be complex 'simulator' scenes). It's all about how it's done.

What could be the motive? The usual one - namely 'greed'.

Alternatively, they could even deal with a plot about the world powers competing for a piece of the Arctic. Go below ground rather than into space.

Singapore would be great actually. It's an amazing place. The Hotel Marina Bay Sands is a wonderful piece of architecture:

The legendary colonial Raffles Hotel has Bond written all over it:

Malaysia right next door could also provide something quite different, ambience wise - more rustic. The Genting Highlands Casino Resort in the mountains which is accessible by cable car would make an interesting location.

    Yes, I concur.
  • I can hear the trailer now:

-"In space, no one can hear you..."
    -"Stop touching your ear!"

London would be great. Hasn't been used for quite some time now .... :-)

I wish that Bond more or less stays in one or two locations. Please no more country hopping. And please let Bond 25 take place in locations that make sense for a spy thriller. So let Bond go to places where the existence of spies is realistic.

Dr No took place on UK and Jamaica. B25 could take some hints

Yes, and they fall pretty nicely into Act I (Bahamas/Miami), Act II (Montenegro), and Act III (Venice). Good structure there, thanks to Haggis.

Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are the strongest scripts we've had this century. No complaints here if Haggis returns.

Yes. It all fell apart with SF on the writing front IMO. SP a bit better but that's not hard.

LOL, I'm picturing her on video like in SP saying "Bond after I die I need you to go to space. Don't tell anyone why you're going". Cut to Fiennes M asking him why he needs to go to space and he keeps giving snarky answers like "I can never see the stars in London" and "I haven't been since 1979" and Fiennes gets madder and madder.

    Yes, I concur.

It'd make a perfect movie if the climax is in the villain's lair, set up in one of the many temples of that region, like Angkor Wat

What I am certain of is that in the next 5 Bond films, I don't want to see any countries that are dark blue or purple in this map (except the UK of course): 1280px-James_bond_world_locations_films.PNG

Africa is a big continent that has barely been tapped by bond and their some good stories that can be made out of some of the locations there
  • Posts: 11,425
I imagine a lot of African countries are not the easiest places to film in though - lots of logistical challenges.

I second Singapore/Malaysia. That would provide some remarkable locations that are fairly untapped in film.
