PTS: Spectre clearly the best PTS since TND
    Title Track: Spectre
Title Credits: Spectre only beaten by CR in the Craig era
Main Villain: Spectre a no-brainer if there ever was one, Silva is simply ridiculously bad
Main Bond Girl: Spectre Skyfall has no main Bond girl
    Henchman: Spectre
Overall Plot: Spectre Skyfall had a plot?
Dialogue: Spectre wins easily over "mommy was....verybad"
Score: tie both simply unworthy of Bond
Settings: Spectre the various sets are the best since at least YOLT
Action: Spectre fantastic from start to finish
Humor: Spectre Skyfall has no humour at all, if not counting clown Silva
Cinematography: Skyfall only category where SF beats all of the Bond films
    Benign Bizarre: Spectre
Suspense: Spectre SF is sleep-inducing on most parts
    Minor Characters: Spectre
Glamour: Spectre the train sequence alone makes this win big time
BOND PERFORMANCE: Spectre CRAIG IS CONNERY THUNDERBALL AWESOME

    Skyfall: 1
    Spectre: 16
    tie: 1
  • Well folks, we have come to the end of our game. In the final round, by a margin of 330-163-12, the victory went to Skyfall! The total games went to Skyfall by 20-6-2, and so the final round ends as most of the previous ones have. But Spectre fought valiantly, and scored a few wins of its own.

I will be back in a few days with some more information about each of the games, and then we'll move on to a new game, as the first Bond movie, Dr. No, squares off against all that have come after it.

    Thanks for playing!

Instead of PTS, perhaps you can add a "favourite movie overall" category for that round?
  • JWPepperJWPepper You sit on it, but you can't take it with you.

@MayDayDiVicenzo , I don't seem to see you on here much anymore. Are we just going to different threads, or have you been keeping a low profile?

Apologies for the (very) belated reply, I only just saw this. I've been extremely preoccupied with university recently and so I've been finding it hard to contribute anything worthwhile to the forum, although I do post now and then if something grabs my attention. Coupled with the fact that I've taken a hiatus from watching any Bond films, having not watched one at all this year (!), I think Bond has taken on a quiet role at the moment. I should be getting back into things as soon as this short university term is over, and I'll be doing my annual summer Bondathon to kickstart my Bond mania once again. Anyhow, I hope to be posting again regularly soon, I really can't wait to delve back into things!

    Tie: 14 (1)

    SP: 163 (6)
    SF: 330 (20)
    Tie: 12 (2)

In these games, Spectre only won four times, against Diamonds Are Forever, A View To A Kill, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. It also finished in a tie three times, against You Only Live Twice, The Man With The Golden Gun, and Tomorrow Never Dies. That puts it in a four-way tie for seventeeth. That sounds about right to me, although of course we'd all quibble with the various scores.

SP's worst drubbings came at the hands of From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Casino Royale, all of which shut it out. It suffered other lopsided losses against the top tier Bond movies, and had some more competitive losses against the less beloved Bonds.

The results were pretty straightforward, but one interesting result was that in all the ties, SP won the number of games while losing the overall score. I'm not sure what that means, if anything, but it seemed worth noting.

    Thank you all!

Interesting - it took a hammering against my Top 3 - FRWL, CR and OHMSS and yet it beat AVTAK, DAD, DAF and TWINE which along with MWTGG I would all place below SP. Seems like my tastes are in line with popular opinion after all.

Especially those top 3. They seem like eternal elite Bond material whereas other favourites like GF, TB, TSWLM and GE all have enough detractors that they will never make that hallowed top 3 universally.
