Breaking Bad (2008). Slow build ups, but they always pay off.

@CraterGuns. Yes until recently most British journalists would have called a series a series. But the use of the term season is becoming more commonplace when discussing TV. In the sixties English producer Lew Grade ran the production company ITC and he always had the desire to sell his shows to the American market which is why shows like The Avengers, The Saint and Man in a suitcase and Thunderbirds had 24-26 episode runs. And yes they would have been called series in the UK. I find it interesting that lots of American productions are now doing shorter runs. It's a good thing I think, it cuts out the filler episodes.

@RogueAgent just heard that some of the cast of Agents of Shield are returning for a new show on Disney + , Clark Greg and Chloe Bennett rumoured to return, great news if this happens.

Excellent news if true! Don't get me wrong as i love SLJ as Nick Fury? But SHIELD means Coulson to me. B-) :-bd

Agents of Shield for me has had its best episodes late on so glad its coming back in some form, still not watched the last few episodes yet... Been waiting for a day off when I can give the finale my full attention.

24 Disney+ has just added loads of new content including 24 so going to watch all the episodes all over again, one of the greatest TV shows of all time IMO.

Just finished the first three episodes of Strike. I've never read any of the novels, so I don't know how the TV series holds up against them, but the first episodes were really good.

24 is my favourite show of all time. The first five seasons are superb television, with cinema production values to boot. I hope your stepson enjoys his viewing, @RogueAgent

Midway through season 8 of Homeland.

This is a perfect example of why so many great talents have moved from cinema to TV. The writing, directing, editing, acting are exceptional and put many big budget movies to shame.

And I never knew I could hold my breath for 45 minutes at a time.

Just watching an old Dr who on Britbox, ( The Daemons ) with Jon Pertwee, and
noticed in a chase sequence when a Helicopter explodes due to hitting a heat
force field. It's the Yellow SPECTRE helicopter from FRWL.

I know this is an old show but, I've just watched the first season
of Bosch on Amazon. I really enjoyed it and have another five seasons
to catch up on. It's the usual Lone Wolf detective, fighting not only
criminals but the bureaucracy and internal police politics.

I randomly tried it out during my TV binge a couple of years back and thoroughly enjoyed it. Some seasons are much stronger than others but it was an easy one to binge watch and I can't wait for the next (seemingly final) season.

The first episode of the Irregulars is kinda fun, even if my daughter is the Sherlock Holmes fan.

Invincible I have not read the comics though enjoying the TV adaption the characters are very well written and this show is definitely not for the kids.

I think this is still available on SKY, but I managed to buy the DVD boxset of
" A Touch of Cloth". It's by Charlie Brooker ( Black mirror etc ) and is a great
send up of all those gritty British police dramas. It is really funny and is
very like Police Squad, along with taking the P out of all the Police clichés.

    T. J. Hooker season 4 episode 17 Hollywood Starr. Totally forgot about this episode when Tiberius James Hooker (Thomas Jefferson Hooker, though I always imagine it to be Tiberius James) teams up with the lovely Sharon Stone.

You can see the star quality in Stone even here, ironically her characters name in this episode is Starr.

I started watching season 1 of Magnum with Tom Selleck. Bought from
Amazon prime, and have to say it still looks great and the stories are
also very good. Another classic series.

The Talking Pictures channel is running repeats of
'Upstairs, Downstairs'. This was required viewing in my house in the 70's, though I was probably too young to be watching it!
Must say, it holds up really well. Really enjoying it, and look forward to it every Sunday (think that's the day it was originally shown too?)
Gordon Jackson plays the formidable character, Hudson, long before he became the tough head of CI5 George Cowley. A veritable who's who of British actors starred in 'Upstairs, Downstairs' a wonderful nostalgic trip down memory lane!

I vaguely remember seeing this, but remember nothing from it. Same as The Onedin Line, which must have been around the same time. I was just a little kid, but you watched whatever was on back then.

Mixing and matching the Original Magnum and the new version. Both
    enjoyable in different ways.

I watched 'The Onedin Line (or "The One Din Line" as the late Terry Wogan used to call it!) but dont remember any of it!
But watching 'Upstairs Downstairs' brought back a lot of memories, maybe because of the strong characters portrayed!
