Fallout episode 1, that opening was absolutely chilling, wow.

This show is not puling punches.

As a huge fan of the video games, I am not disappointed at all. The show is one of the best love letters to the fans.

I too have watched the first episode of Fallout, and as someone who has only played FO3 and FO4, I am very happy with the first episode. I hope it continues in the same vein.

It does. It's very similar to
    the plot of fallout 3

I'm loving Ripley, at the moment. Great writing and direction from Steven Zaillian.

Agreed, loved all the little nods just this minute put episode 2 on.

The production is very impressive, they should have aired this weekly to gain more chatter to make it even more of a mega hit.

I wouldn't mind 2 episodes a week. Probably with binge watching is patience. I'm halfway through episode 5 and I need to slow it down

Been busy with work so only watched one episode a day, I may binge the rest over the weekend. Lucy is a great character very endearing. I like the overall dark humour of the show it matches the games well.

What the hell happened to The Boys?

Season four l, so far, has ranged from bloody atrocious (Episode One), to exceptionally mediocre (with a few great scenes peppered through it).

Lazy, lazy, lazy, lazy writing. Betrayal of three seasons of build-up and character development for two characters, and literally cutting and pasting alt.right tweets into their scripts. I’ve never seen anything of such high quality, fall so steeply. On the nose, on the nose, and, on the nose.

Quite honestly this writing room should be ashamed of themselves. It’s pathetic.

I have only watched the first episode of Season 4 so far, it was pretty gruesome. The reference to current events were very blatant.

Agreed, @Fire_and_Ice_Returns . So on the nose it made the episode dull and flat.

    Frustrating and very disappointing.

The first episode did feel jarring I had to go back and watch some of S3 finale again as I thought I had missed something.

I can't say I've had too much issue with The Boys new season so far. The gay subplot did feel more than a little out of the blue, though. The rest? It's been good - episode four was one of the show's finest episodes, I think. Subtlety was never its hook: I'm not really seeing a sharp decline at all.

I do miss Queen Maeve and Starlight's old face, though.

I think episode five was its best of this season.

Episode 1-4 felt like CHATGPT co-wrote every episode with an alt.right twitter account.

    Lazy, atrocious writing.

Episode five was back to genuine storytelling again, and the type of episode that makes The Boys great.

The last thing I want when I watch fiction, is to feel like I'm watching CNN or FOX news.

And the gay subplot literally was shoe horned in and wasted three seasons of buildup. Just a terrible choice they made in the writers room.

1-4 was brutal and an embarrassment.

Episode 5 felt like the best of what The Boys is (plenty of dark humour, horror, social satire (without the bashing over the head)).

Then, whatever you say, @CraigMooreOHMSS , old boy, 😂…. I’m just not as smart as you to pick up the meanings in your replies I guess. Oh well, 🤷‍♂️, stupid me!!

Just commenting on what has been one of my top shows of the last few years. Smart and intelligent has turned to on-the-nose and mostly flat for the first four episod.

It finally shows up in episode 5.

But you know, stupid me, wouldn’t know what I’m talking about 😂!!!

@peter, I think you're being a bit overly sensitive, and I am sure if you look back on these later you'll feel the same.

My previous post said that the show was never about subtlety and that there's not really anything in the new season that is any less on-the-nose than what came before. It ALWAYS had a CNN/Fox News element to it. Your follow-up then just repeated the same line without citing any examples of what made the writing poor in comparison with the prior seasons. I'm personally delighted that everyone has finally caught on to the metaphors; it was only a matter of time. The pacing is pretty subjective I suppose but I haven't found it flat - I think every season has had a fairly slow start that builds to a big finish of some description. Season 3 really only properly got going when Soldier Boy turned up halfway through.

I agree completely on the gay subplot though. I don't really care all that much for Frenchie regardless (he just seems to mope a lot without contributing) but it has had the secondary side effect of sidelining Kimiko a bit too much for my liking. Karen Fukahara is great.

So no, there's nothing "up my crack" and you very much are entitled to your opinion. You usually just present it in a more thoughtful manner (hence my "whatever you say" above). I'm not your enemy, my man.

I'm enjoying The Boys latest season, but it's lacking that something that made the earlier seasons so great, like something disturbingly immoral or an OMG death. I keep waiting for one of the main cast to get offed, but the show is playing it safe.

    Sure. Gotcha.

I appreciate the explanation, and would’ve appreciated it more the first time ‘round instead of the dismissive, “whatever you say, Peter 😂 “…

    So, yeah….

I would agree with this, too. I think someone's gotta go in the finale, seeing as next season is the last one. The stakes need to skyrocket for that final run.

Never said you were perfect, @CraigMooreOHMSS . The dismissive reply was wholly unnecessary, when it’s clear you had much more interesting comments to make.

I’m still wondering why you felt the need to belittle, but, I. The end, I’ll leave it there.

    Your intention was clear.

I got the message, but I’m u clear whybthisnosnthe message you’d want to send my way.

Speaking of final run, I was expecting
A-Train to get found out and try to make a run for it, only for Homelander to catch up to him, and then...Splat!

    Strangely enough....
...my money is indeed on him to bite the dust by the end of this season. I have been enjoying his arc, as it's not really redemptive but it's not entirely selfish either. I feel like it can only end badly.

Could Homelander catch A-Train, do we think? It's a Superman versus Flash comparison, basically.

It's something to think about. Maybe we'll see that. I'm not familiar with the source comic, perhaps the answer is in there somewhere.

I feel like the only authentic way to end this show is with Homelander ruling a barren wasteland.

I'm not familiar with the source either, @QBranch - but thankfully it seems that the overriding opinion is that the show is a huge improvement on it.

Just a kick to the gut: I was very taken by the show Outer Range on Amazon, starring Josh Brolin and produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B. A great mystery-suspense sci-fi series that has two seasons and performed strongly, has just been cancelled by Amazon for a third season.

Just goes to show how streamers and studios are slashing projects left and right. The system no longer needs to make money on output since their overlords are the anonymous figures on Wall Street that fill their coffers (one of the reasons why the strikes went on for so long).

This is indeed a true pity and I hope this show finds another home elsewhere.

I have been revisiting the James Norton episodes of Grantchester, now on its third vicar. I like all three actors and what they bring to their roles, but I find Norton especially compelling. Sidney's conflict between his faith and his personal life make for darker fare than the episodes with his successors. Though not an obvious Bond choice, he could make for an interesting Bond. I doubt he'll be considered, but is an actor I like. No Sidney Chambers on Happy Valley.

Just finished another complete marathon of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. I saw most of it on Disney +, except the episodes I had to find elsewhere. Strangely enough, Disney wants to add this juicy comedy show to its list, but thinks some episodes too juicy for its audience. Really, Disney? Anyway, IASIP is one of the best TV shows ever, if you ask me.
