I just completed yet another run through of BBC Sherlock, an absolute masterwork. It has grown into one of my favorite series ever, and the 6 episodes offer some of the best entertainment imaginable. Every time I watch it I learn something new or pick out something I hadn't seen before, and that is thrilling considering just how deeply layered the show is. Benedict and Martin are the best Holmes and Watson I have ever seen, and these adaptions of those characters bring tears of joy to my eyes. They and their supporting cast truly give some of the greatest acting performances I have ever seen, on television or film, and have made me proud and honored to be a Holmes fan, along with the equally brilliant Granada series. If you haven't watched this series yet, get off of Mars and treat yourself.

@RogueAgent, 'Lizard Lick Towing' got me through many boring nights of college. I'd just lay in bed and watch a marathon of it. So...bad, but so entertaining.

I don't watch much TV anymore, but I try to get on a fix of shows. Just finished up my second runthrough of 'Nip/Tuck', since the girlfriend hadn't seen it before, and we just started 'Breaking Bad' a few weeks ago. Almost done the second season now. It just gets better and better. This may be one of those shows I could see myself purchasing.

    Marvels Agents of Shield.
Pretty impressed with this actually! Was not sure but seeing some of the feedback on here helped me give it a go. Won't comment too much on it as do not want to spoil anything for people who have not seen it yet?
I am just curious over the course of the series will it have any kind of connection with the second Avengers movie when that is released? :-?

After watching Breaking Bad's finale last night then following it tonight with Dexter's finale was like watching TJ Hooker it was like the writers of Scooby Doo were bought on board to finish the series. Granted after Trinity it just went downhill but Season 8 was the worst one yet and the finale was officially the worst episode of the series entire history.

What a contrast to see WW leave our screens, it was sadness but also great respect I felt last night, tonight I just thought good bloody riddance a series that should have been put to rest seasons ago and no I couldn't care about the final sequence as I didn't give a hoot for any of the characters anymore although the writers were piling on the so called emotional flashbacks to tug at out heart strings, the BB flashbacks were superb the Dexter one's were manipulative BS to make you care but you didn't, I should have put this one out to pasture long ago, I should have learned my lesson with Lost, more fool me.

I stopped Dexter midway through season 5. So far no one who I've spoken to who's seen the final has said a good thing about it. I think I'll just stick with my memories of seasons 1-4.

The final of BB was incredible. Brilliantly acted until the very end.
I couldn't stand Lydia but you had to feel a tiny bit sorry for her when Walt told her he'd put the Ricin in her tea.

Agreed on BB and your best just remembering those first 4 seasons if I could erase what came next or have had the good sense to duck out after Trinity I'm sure I could have found something more constructive to do with my time.

    The Wrong Mans

It's an action comedy show with James Corden and Matthew Baynton (who was Deano in Gavin and Stacey and who also wrote it). The story is confusing, it's full of film references (even the title is one), and it's serious one minute then funny the next.

This really shouldn't work. But it does. Started off ok but the 3rd episode was quite good, made me laugh a few times. Great cast too. Everyone from Dawn French to Dougray Scott is in it. Corden is funny as usual and Baytnon is funny too, they play off each other well.

My favourite bit so far was when they were running away from the chinese gangsters and tried to hijack a random car like you see people do in action films. "Gonna need to borrow your car mate" "Piss off". Sam telling the mob boss his address because he was trying to make conversation while waiting for the lift got a laugh out of me too.

Dougray Scott was fucking brilliant too, he played a spy and he was really cool. Makes me sad that he was never Bond. And there was a really funny bit when James Corden accidentally called him dad.

I watched the entire first series of 'Derek' yesterday. I love a show that can keep me emotional yet make me cry from laughter in the same episode. Gervais is brilliant in this.

I liked The Office, I liked Extras, but I thought Derek was pretty crap. I thought the tone was all over the place and I thought that Gervais gave a crap performance that was bordering on offensive.

Karl was funny in it but then if I want to watch Karl being funny I can watch An Idiot Abroad or The Ricky Gervais show.

    My favourite line was

"Who'd you think would win a fight between a shark and a suicide bomber?" from the pilot.

The Duran Duran tribute was hilarious, my only problem was using Coldplay in order to make things emotional, just made me want to wretch but then Snowplay and Cold Patrol always have that effect on me.

@Shardlake, I love the bit with Karl trying to explain to Derek why he tried to get rid of the frog. Something along the lines of "They shut the machines off, immediately after they saw what they produced." I was in tears.

@thelivingroyale, I didn't find it offensive. I heard it got ripped a new one even before it aired because they thought it was making fun of the mentally handicapped.

@Creasy47 You're absolutely correct. The tabloid press had their knives out ready to slaughter Derek before they'd even seen it as they (wrongly) assumed that Gervais would just take the piss. They of course were all forced to back down once they realised that the show was in fact a very well made bittersweet comedy drama.

It got a mixed reception in the UK, it did feel like it was going for the emotion a little too much but didn't offend me and Gervais has never really stepped out of his own persona in a show before and I thought he was great although Pilkington steals every scene he's in, the drunk mate gets a little annoying at times but his Duran Duran bit was hilarious.

Not sure if I want another series, might just be fine as it is a bit like Count Arthur Strong which got mixed reviews but I found great, Rory Kinnear is just brilliant in it.

I love the drunk friend, he's hilarious. Does absolutely nothing and has sex on his mind 100%.

I was looking to buy it on blu-ray, but the only thing I could find was a Region 2 UK release, which is upsetting for me here in the States.

Whitechapel season 4 finale. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series yet again but have to say the final 20 minutes of last nights show for me was a big anti-climax to put it mildly. Get the feeling that it could be the final season?

    Eureka
Series 5: Jack Of All Trades

A bout of body swapping ensues with Carter/Fargo, Carter/Zane & Carter/Allison. What makes this episode special is that each of the actors really manage to capture the mannerisms of the other actors/characters.

    South Park

First episode was nothing special but the second episode was funny. My favourite bits

"I agree with Cartma-" "Boo! Boo Wendy, Boo!"

"I wish Jaden Smith was my son!"

"Minecraft ain't got no winner! It ain't got no objective! You just sit around building sh*t!" Oh, and this

Started the second half of the final season of 'Breaking Bad.' It's getting so intense.

Also started the first season of 'Ripper Street' and I'm liking what I see. Definitely gave me a big 'Sherlock Holmes' (Ritchie's films) vibe as soon as it started.

Just finished my 2nd run through of Hannibal Season 1, this really was for me the most impressive new show of the year. Watching it again makes you appreciate the level of acting, some of the lesser episodes might slip into the serial killer of the week trap but for the most part this utterly gripping television.,

Dancy makes for the most intensive Will Graham and Mads is so convincing all I see now is not Mikkleson but Hannibal Lecter. In the space of one series he's redefined a role that had been diluted by Hopkins, there will be those who will say Cox is the best but his Lektor just feels every man type whereas as Mads has invested the role with sophistication and an air of menace, he wears those suits to a tee and his reading of Thomas Harris most famous creation is simply magnetic. I love the way food plays such an important part. The ending has taken the franchise is a new direction but Season 2 should be even better. I had my reservations about Fishburne as Jack Crawford but he's the equal of Scott Glenn's in SOTL.

I fail to see where some U.S critics have commented that he needs to work on his diction, he speaks English beautifully, I wonder why the U.S has such a problem with European accents, I even find people complaining about regional accents in this country over the pond, Trainspotting was apparently a problem and I believe I heard the Red Riding Trilogy had issues understanding the Yorkshire accents.

@Shardlake, I came to this thread to say that I'd just finished my first run of Hannibal - all in the past 6 days - and absolutely loved it.

Mads really has done amazingly well with the role and I didn't imagine any other Hannibal after the first episode.

I agree with what you've said entirely and can only add that the costumes and set design also add so much sophistication to the show. That and the way it's filmed make it one of the most visually beautiful shows I've seen in a long time. I was struck yesterday in one of the episodes where Hannibal was at his psychiatrist's office/home that some of the frames were composed so well that they could stand alone as art.

I plan to see the entire season again prior to the second season. And recommend this show to everyone.

I'm guessing he means they are talking about Mads. His English is gorgeous and the accent ... gah! Hot! I mean.. really adds something to him that makes his character more menacing. As Khan so often says, we are often put off our balance a bit when something is phantasmagorical. And Mads' accent is perfect. Different from the usual English or French accents but still perfectly understandable.

I thought his accent was far more in Casino Royale.

I've never had a complaint about Mads' accent. As you've stated, his English is amazing and easy to understand.
