@Risico007, McGuyver seems to be a dud.
Really at the highest watched show on Friday night that is some dud...

I thought it was brilliant will post my review later today

It dominated on Friday no doubt about that but the show itself is a dud. I expect a huge drop in viewership next week but I'm glad YOU enjoyed it.

Here in the UK Andrew Dice Clay was never a big star, being mainly known for The Adventures of Ford Fairlane and that was a flop. But i love his new TV show DICE. A sort of Curb Your Enthusiam style show where Clay plays an exagerated version of himself as he is now. A down on his luck has- been, eaking out a living in the lower end of Las Vagas. Very rude, very sweary and very funny. The second episode featuring Adrian Brody playing himself as a super serious method actor studying Dice and then becoming more like Dice than Dice himself is hilarious. Well worth checking out

  • Richard E. Grant on Ealing comedies, a good documentary series on the studio with input from Diana Rigg, Paul Whitehouse and Michael Palin amongst others. The show is on SKY GOLD.

I ask myself the same question regarding 'The Walking Dead.' I knew bothering with this spinoff would be a bad idea, the trailers told me all I needed to know.

THE WALKING DEAD goes up and down. It's worth sticking for the streaks where it really clicks. The spin-off just plain sucks week after week, from the start.

I quit after season three (turned into a dull soap opera), returned when season six was firing up and gave it another chance. I'll try and stick with it once it premieres again, but this latest season was rather disappointing. Once I give up on the show again, I'll be done for good this time.

Is anyone else watching the Italian television show GOMORRAH? It's finally being shown in the US in the Sundance Channel. I've become quote taken with it. Never seems to go the expected route and the performances are all stellar.

Hell yes! Gomorrah is awesome. Best series I saw last year. The first season is better than the second. The music, the performances and the cinematography are outstanding. My girlfriend is Italian so we watched this as soon as it came out. I was in Italy for a month when the second season started and it's more popular than game of thrones there. Many phrases from the show have become sayings, especially around Napoli where it is set (and where my girlfriend is from). It's brutal and unpredictable.

I hear you. I want to kick Chris in the face. I can't stand that little shit. Worst character ever.

I have stuck with The Walking Dead all the way through, but season six really tested my patience to breaking point. The first eight episodes were good, some great tension as our heroes try to get the herd of walkers away from Alexandria. But the eight after the dreaded mid season were awful. Nothing more than a big extended build up to the introduction of this mythical Negan. By the time he actually appeared i was sick of hearing about him. Is season seven going to be about anything other than Negan? I have my doubts. But the show really jumped the shark with the death and resurection of a certain character which was just ridiculious.

It'll be interesting to see how the viewing numbers change (either up or down) when it's revealed who Negan has killed. For some the reveal may sour them for good on the show.

I don't see the appeal of it, personally, but it's never been my kind of thing anyway. Same with Game of Thrones.

I thought you'd like GoT. Have you watched any episodes?

On another note, I'm watching Luke Cage and this show is amazing; much better than what I was expecting. Marvel/Netflix have another huge hit.

I haven t actually seen the show, but watched the trailer for Lethal Weapon. It looks pretty bad. Worse than the films.

It wouldn't be for me, nor do I care to get into it. There's so much more worthwhile stuff out there for me that doesn't get shoved down my throat by the entire world and that I can enjoy without worrying about being spoiled after each episode.

I'm pretty knowledgable on GoT simply because so much of it has been spoiled for me through hearing other people talk about it or by reading the spoilers in headlines on random internet pages. It's for the best though, as those spoilers successfully put me off of it.

Maybe I'll watch it a long time from now, after everyone's quit going on about it like it's the second coming in TV form. I did that with Breaking Bad, and it was far more satisfying for me to just binge it and not have to wait, wait, wait all the time for episodes.

Judging that this new 'MacGyver' has a 4.5/10 rating on IMDB, it probably won't have good viewing figures for long.

    SPENSER: FOR HIRE
SPEN-SAAAAAAAAAAAA! Classic mid-eighties detective series with Robert Urich as the Boston private eye and Avery Brooks as Hawk- his hired enforcer buddy. Like the current Tom Selleck Jessie Stone series this was based on a series of books by Robert P Parker.
Parker's writing was clearly an homage to Chandler's Philip Marlowe books. Both detectives share a smart ass wit. Having grown up on this show I was more than thrilled a couple years ago when it was finally released on demand to DVD. Needless to say, I bought all three seasons as soon as they came out.
Tonight I popped in a first season episode.

Luke Cage episode 1 it has not grabbed me in the way DareDevil and Jessica Jones did with there openers, though LC has potential and a good cast. A few easter eggs in the first episode including

Finished watching Jessica Jones over the weekend. I'd started it a while back, with the first episode, and didn't think it was great. However, I went back to it over the weekend and it just got better and better. Good stuff.

Also, watched the first 7 episodes of Season 2 of Daredevil. Not grabbed me in the way that Season 1 did but still 6 episodes to go so we'll see. I do think Jon Bernthal is a nice fit as The Punisher though.
  • @Shark_0f_Largo I enjoyed Jessica Jones, and loved both seasons of DareDevil-- but during season 2 I found myself just looking forward to the next time Castle showed up whenever something else was going on!
The Punisher will be my favorite show once it comes out, I know it!!

    Let me know what you think of Luke Cage- I'm only 4 episodes in so far, but I mentioned on another forum that it wasn't blowing me away so far and was immediately labeled a racist, lol 8-}

Yep, Frank Castle is great and I think Bernthal is a perfect fit, I really do.

I'll be on to Luke Cage as soon as I'm done with Daredevil. Can't believe that you've been labeled a racist all because you don't find the show as good as others. How ridiculous, it really is. Obviously, you HAVE to enjoy it because the character is black. The world is going mad, I tell ya, mad.

Finished watching Luke Cage and I have to say firstly, damn you Mariah!!

Now for me, this show is better than season1 of both DD and JJ and the latter half of DD season 2. Misty Knight is probably the best written and acted character out of the Marvel/Netflix shows. She was a real standout for me. Simone Missick was just phenomenal in this, particularly during her psych evaluation and when she lost it with both Claire and Mariah at separate times at the police station. This show managed to be topical, socially relevant and entertaining simultaneously, with a hero worth rooting for and a handful of interesting and compelling villains, and easily by far, the best representation of women in any superhero show or movie for that mstter.

The fight choreography in this isn't as "flashy" as DD's so in that they need to improve but tge fights/action were still great to watc; but with everything else the show offers of black culture and roots in historical fact and people (Pappy Mason, Azie Faison, Donald Goines novels, Dapper Dan and Fab 5 Freddy) this show definitely gets elevated to the point where the show's flaws are relegated to minor nitpicks and is a show that is by far the most authentic of the Marvel/Netflix offerings. Really loved the references to the 70s blaxploitation era and the soundtrack is bloody amazing. There's a lot of depth to this show and I can't wait to rewatch this.

Currently watching Designated Survivor as it airs. This is the new Kiefer Sutherland show. They've aired two episodes so far, and it's been impressive. Sutherland is tv's version of Tom Hanks imho. An everyman that a viewer can root for. Natasha McElhone really needs to provide some advice on aging gracefully, because she looks just like she did almost 20 years ago in Ronin. Maggie Q (reason enough to watch) & Virginia Madsen co-star.

Based on what I've seen so far, I recommend this show.

@bondjames, Designated Survivor seems to have a Jack Ryan thing going on about it. I know that in one of the books, Tom Clancy puts Jack into a tough position where he must take up the presidency and face the threats of the high office unprepared. Kiefer seems to be playing that sort of character here, in a very interesting TV scenario.

I wasn't aware of that premise in a Clancy Ryan novel @0BradyM0Bondfanatic7. You could be on to something. There are a lot of subplots developing and I'm curious to see where they go with them. For now I'm hooked.

Kiefer is perfect in the role, and it's a nice counter to House of Cards, with a top man here with integrity who 'fell into it' rather than an ambitious shark who did everything to get there in the Netflix series.
