It's like they never left, and I am okay with that!
I'm up to episode 10 in Daredevil season 2, and all I can say is this is one of the best series I've ever seen!
Incredible action, gripping storyline and intense acting. Frank Castle's torture and escape from the Irish gang was seriously riveting! Also his fight against the inmates in the prison block was incredible.
I don't want this to end!
But then we also have The Punisher series to look forward to!
A Batman series done like Daredevil would be mind blowing!
Been very eager to see the new stuff, haven't had the chance yet! I think I heard Hulu put the entire series up for streaming, which is great news.
I gave up on it. I love PKDs work, but this series just doesn t cut it.
Enjoyed what I saw of Addams Family as a kid, though I was always more of a Munsters man. ;)
Restarted watching Criminal minds with episode 1 & 2 of season one.
Both very good.
Very DEAD POETS SOCIETY, except with philosophy, combined with the various coming-of-age stories of the students, in which their teenager anxiety is confronted by the work of Socrates and Nietzsche and so on. (Each episode is named after a philosopher whose thinking is then tied thematically into the happenings of the episode.)
Netflix has the first season on instant. Decided to watch it on a whim and quite enjoyed it. Recommended for anyone with access to it, and especially to those who like both (a) philosophy and (b) John Hughes movies.
I understand the second season has aired, and from what I can find the third and final season began airing a few weeks ago.
Strange I've heard nothing but raves from my friends who have watched it, utterly engrossing is what I'm told.
Personally I can't wait to get stuck into it next week, I've been waiting for it with baited breath since it was announced.
If it's like Zodiac pace wise and tone I'll be more than happy.
Just watched episodes 3 & 4 of David Simon's The Deuce. It's probably too soon to say he and the team of done it again but it's showing a huge amount of promise.
Simon & George Pelicanos delving into the world of the rise of the porn industry in the 70's is ripe material for these two, in the hands of lesser writers this could be explotative and titilating.
Simon said if they got it wrong it could be horrible but so far it's gritty, engrossing and not without humour. Capturing the period brilliantly, never been a huge fan of James Franco but he's doing fine work and Maggie Gyllenhall is her usual quality, excellent supporting cast including Wire regulars Lawrence Gillard Jnr, Chris Bauer & Clifford (Method Man) Smith. As well as Soprano's Jackie Aprile Michael Rispoli.
Definitely recognisable as coming from the same stable as The Wire with more than a few returning cast members from that, one scene in particular in was a Wire reunion with Cheese, Chris Partlow & Slim Charles all together.
They seem to be setting out the stall not unlike The Wire and Simon says he has plans for a 3 season arc taking it right up into the 80's. I can't wait on the evidence of this it's going to be another winner from the man and his team.
I'd say give it a shot, you may enjoy it.
Waiting for The Deuce to wrap up the first season so I can binge watch it one weekend. Same with this new season of Vice Principals.
Casino Royale.
'Oui, monsieur.'
'Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?'
'Certainly, monsieur.' The barman seemed pleased with the idea.
'Gosh, that's certainly a drink,' said Leiter.
Bond laughed. 'When I'm . . . er . . . concentrating,' he explained, 'I never have more than one drink before dinner. But I do like that one to be large and very strong and very cold and very well made. I hate small portions of anything, particularly when they taste bad. This drink's my own invention. I'm going to patent it when I can think of a good name.'
He watched carefully as the deep glass became frosted with the pale golden drink, slightly aerated by the bruising of the shaker. He reached for it and took a long sip.
'Excellent,' he said to the barman, 'but if you can get a vodka made with grain instead of potatoes, you will find it still better.'
'Mais n'enculons pas des mouches,' he added in an aside to the barman. The barman grinned.
'That's a vulgar way of saying "we won't split hairs",' explained Bond.
I'm all in, I liked it.
If you like The Wire can't see you not liking The Deuce, same we've got VP racking up.
I could have left The Deuce to binge but the new drama from DS I couldn't wait.
I've a feeling MH will be right up my street but I'll find out next week.
And I'm glad you enjoyed it, @RichardTheBruce -- you made quick work of your promise to watch it. ;)
I really liked the first season. A refreshing break from heavier, serialized drama. Francisco Ornella is great as Merli. He's easily the best bit of the show for me — his personal life, the relationship between he and his son, and with his students. Watching him teach class is the highlight of each ep (though this was all too brief in some episodes). Honestly I'd watch that for an hour. Kind of inspiring, actually. Makes me want to dig out every philosophy book I can find and get cracking.
Excited to move onto the second season (if I can find a subtitled version of it). I'm trying to figure out if Netflix is planning on adding it (presumably next month as they released S1 last November).
Only 2 episodes in and I'm engrossed and fascinated, dialogue heavy and darkly funny, just the ticket, I'm a sucker for anything Fincher.
Liking Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany & Hannah Gross, Cameron Britton leaves quite and impression as Ed Kemper.
Don't really have the time to binge this in a marathon (I have a life) so it will be 2 episodes a night but with The Deuce and now this I feel suitably spoiled.
The kind of awkward, "This is really not funny" kind of laughing? That's the worst.
Unintentional laughs it's poor on every level, when you see a Alien planet character using remington clippers to shave someones hair that's how bad it is.
I'll happily accept being in the minority of people who actually enjoy Inhumans. I can see most of the criticisms, but in my opinion, the show's been improving since the first two episodes. I don't expect it to get a second season, nor do I feel it'll go down in the annuls of time as one of the best shows on TV, but it's kept me entertained.
It premiered here on Tuesday I think, but I didn't fancy it.
Looks like I made the right choice !!
Will be waiting with baited breath for Season 2.
I will stick with it as I am a fan of the genre the first episode was entertaining for all the wrong reasons, the clippers though that was bad
I know this superhero stuff isn't for me, but I literally could not believe just how awful and forgettable this show looked. Like it had a budget of $10,000.
