@chrisisall, as you are the ranking expert on mi6community, have you ever tried ranking the Bond films by sunglasses? ;)

Dalton wins so completely no ranking is necessary.

  • Hi Chrisisall,

I appreciate your very thorough list, although I just noticed, Goldfinger is there twice (6 & 8) and there is no Spectre. An innocent slip, I presume?

As for me, I have to agree with most of the posters here - all three 'original' Indy movies would sit in a Bond top 10, with the top 5 probably:

    1. CR
    2. Raiders
    3. SF
    4. Temple of Doom
    5. TLD

While I enjoy the other franchises mentioned above, for me none of them quite compare to these two for sheer enjoyment.

    OK Mods close this now.

When people are starting to rank garbage like Star Trek and every superhero film ever made its getting out of hand.

Yes, let's stick to Indy until the boss says otherwise.

So who will give the next Bond/Indy ranking??
  • This thread's a joke anyway. The kid's film Temple of Doom above TB?

This thread is mean. We are asked to rate Indy along side Bond and when we do we get hollered at for our ratings.
I'm going to a different sandbox to play!

Temple of doom is darker and more gruesome than most Bond films. How exactly is it for kids, and Bond is adult?
  • @Mendes4Lyfe The presence of short round and the fact he is meant to be funny tells you who the intended audience is. Child slaves beating up their captors - yep real dark. I suppose TOD has the unique advantage in the series that Jones actually affects the outcome.

Any film featuring children must be intended for children? OK.

Yeah like The Omen and Stand By Me. Whereas films with kung fu schoolgirls and elephants playing slot machines are mature entertainment for adults.

Anyway this thread is turning into s bit of a Pandora's Box. Who'd have thought there could be people who actually think KOTCS isn't awful?

We'd better not extend it to include Star Wars as no doubt there's some deviant out there who rates The Phantom Menace top.

    People terrify me.

I see my point went right over your head. I never claimed the Bond films are dark - just that they are for adults. Short round's humour tells you the intended audience. The child slavery might have been dark but it wasn't portrayed that way.

The Indiana jones films are one big plot hole. Jones is a sceptic, yet every films the supernatural is proved to exist. Reminds me of Scooby doo where shaggy and Scooby believe the villain is a monster every episode, despite it always turning out to be a human fiend.

The fact we've got people ranking TDK & TDKR lower than Batman & Robin is seriously ridiculous it's like they think it's clever to be subversive.

Look at me going against grain aren't I edgy.

Nnnnnno, it's just that I don't LIKE simplistic dark storytelling for the sake of being all dark & s**t. I loved Batman Begins, but that was a good rip off of The Shadow. TDK was crap & TDKR was worse. MOS was also crap. Watchmen was phenomenal.
At least Batman & Robin was funny.
Edgy my freckled butt. It's called personal opinion Shardy. :))
    Lighten up. :D

    Quite.

I've just read through one of the rankings above and there's actually someone on the planet who thinks Supergirl is better than OHMSS, CR and The Dark Knight.

I've never heard a better argument for compulsory euthanasia.

I apologise to all for starting this thread and opening the window into Hades.

Supergirl is in NO WAY objectively better than OHMSS or CR (maybe better than TDK though :)) ), it's just that I have more FUN* watching it.

    * sorry about the dredded caps there... ;)
  • If you put it in caps, it increases the validity of your point.

Actually what you've written is plain balls, since no film is 'objectively' better than any other film. What you want to say is that you prefer supergirl to OHMSS. Glad you've let me know that.

I don't see a problem preferring Supergirl on OHMSS.

I'd prefer Shaun Of The Dead to anything when push comes to shove.

    Or Pitch Black

so tell me I have bad taste.

I think just for the Lakeofshard and the WizziOfSpice I do a special ranking...

    2. OHMSS

    Well, this has derailed quickly.
Please get it back on track, or we can safely put it out of its misery.

Comparing any franchise of films against another is always going to be controversial and have mixed opinions. But it should only be compared to films of a similar nature or from the same genre. Including Star Wars, Star Trek or any science fiction then it's crossed the line of being plausible.

I don't think I can actually do this task and have to give credit to those who have. I enjoy the Indy series but to rank them alongside Bond is a little too difficult.

    Raiders Of The Lost Ark

    6. DN
    7. TSWLM
    8. TLD
    9. SP
    10. TB
Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom
    11. LALD
    12. GE
    13. FYEO
    14. LTK
    15. OP
    16. YOLT
    17. QOS
Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

    20. TMWTGG
    21. MR
    22. DAF
    23. AVTAK
    24. DAD

That was pretty difficult actually. But think I'm happy with that, people may say Skull or Doom are too high but they are guilty pleasures for me and I enjoy those films.
