Speaking of video games the king of them officially has a movie on the way! Bad news for me though, it’s Illumination studios behind it😢

Just fought the giant bat in the church. I could have made it easier on myself by using the shotgun (rather than the pistol) but when I encountered the bat, I was playing as Rebecca (Billy was carrying the shotgun).

I remember my first time through, I took the grenade launcher and didn't even know the bat was coming up. I just wanted to find my next long term hub and drop off all the stuff I didn't need.

Great to see fellow Resident Evil players here! I just finished a run-through of 4 myself last week! It’s easily one of my favorite game series and I love almost all the ones I’ve played (5 and 6 aside). 0 is a tough one; there is a nice exploit to beat that annoying big bat though by taking refuge in a corner and then getting it in a locked position.

Agreed, though while I played them for fun as a kid, I never really got into the meat of the games. Dove into 3, 4 and 7 in the last year-ish and I loved them all, such a blast to play over and over again in pursuit of that Platinum Trophy. Tasking and difficult at times but so much fun.

I'm slowly going through probably my 100th run of RE4, playing the Switch version. It's not a bad port, and having it portable is nice. I'm starting to wear on it, though, as it's just not pulling me through like my PS4 run just this past March (just prior to RE3 Remake) did.

Only your 100th run? Pffft. Novice ;)
All kidding aside though, it still remains my absolute favourite video game of all time.

I wanted to get the Switch edition, but so far I've only played it on my GameCube and PC. Sorry to hear it's been a bit more of a drag for you this time around. 4 has to be my favorite of the series, and one of my favorite games ever in general.

@Creasy47 nice! Did you play the original 3 or the remake 3?

On a side note, I ordered the 3D Mario All-Stars collection. Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy are all all-time favorites for me.

@FoxRox, I played the remakes of both 3 and 4.

Nice! I know the 3 Remake got its fair share of hate, but I loved the game myself! Have not played the original, but I do have it for my GameCube and have to give it a whirl someday. For now, out of what I'd play, I'd rank the games:

    1. Resident Evil 4
    2. Resident Evil (Remake)
    3. Resident Evil 2 (Remake)
    4. Resident Evil 3 (Remake)
    5. Resident Evil 0
    6. Resident Evil 5
    7. Resident Evil 6

Haven't played 7 yet, but I own it and watched someone play it; based on what I've seen, it would likely rank either 1 above or below 0. Code Veronica I also have and need to play.

Remake 3 was a disappointment for me because everything I loved about the original was discarded for RE6-esque action setpiece replacements. Nemesis should have been a supercharged version of the Mr. X Tyrant from Remake 2, but he was watered down considerably.

There were things I liked, however. Jill was (aside from a few early lines) turned into a better character, the hospital was much better and Carlos was more interesting. Every good decision just seemed to have been the result of deleting what made the original special, however, and made this game so much less than it could have been.

RE7 was beautiful, though. A good horror show in a series that had lost its way between 2005 and 2012. And the Revelations games are a good little subseries.

I did hear that one of them, I believe it was the RE3 remake, removed a lot of sections, particularly one involving the clock tower. I wonder why they chose to do it.

And yes, RE7 was very beautiful. I thought some of the DLC was absolute garbage (haven't gotten enraged at a game in a long while the way I did that 21 game mode) but the story overall was sound and very fun.

Can't wait to pick up RE8 on release day, it's going to be incredible hopefully.

I can't speak about the removed content as I haven't played the original yet, but that has been a big complaint. All I can really say is that I loved the RE3 Remake as it was, having never played the old one. But perhaps my opinion will change after I visit the original?

I'm very excited about 8. The footage has been spectacular thus far - tons of intrigue and darkness. What a consistently fun and strong series this has been!

I'm feeling a bit indifferent to the Resident Evil 4 remake. Part of me would love to see an updated version of the game but at the same time I can't help but feel it can't be as groundbreaking or spectacular as the original.

I honestly figured at this rate, with the recent remakes of the past couple of years, that they'd look to do a proper remake of RE4, one I've surprisingly not played yet. I see rumblings of Capcom working on one but I don't follow the news and franchise enough to be certain about what's what.

Nothing had been officially confirmed but there are very strong rumors within the industry that it's in development.

Beautiful, that's when I'll look to finally get my hands on it, then.

Been playing the ResiEvil games on and off since the original, I must have played most of them. I don't know if I could rank them, but I haven't really tried. Jill has always been my favourite character, so 1, 3 and Revelations stand out. I also prefer the installments that are more horror than action.

@FoxRox I will keep that in mind, for when I attempt a playthrough on a higher difficulty.

I'm an idiot, I meant to say I played the remakes of 2 and 3, not 3 and 4. I've still not played 4 in full ever.

Anyone get through Madhouse on RE7? That was such a pain but so satisfying in the end when I completed it.

I have reached the Water Treatment and reunited with Billy. Unfortunately, shortly before I left the area with the circular lift, I dropped 34 shotgun shells to pick up later. But now I can't find a way back to the lift. Bugger!

Also, I now have a copy of RE4, so I just need RE5 and RE6.

I remember playing it once when it was first released and never played it again after. Apart from sections of the Leon campaign which were semi decent, the Chris and Jake campaigns were appalling.

I'll defend the Jake campaign for the character interactions alone.

Finished Resident Evil 0. Turns out I was able to get back to the circular lift, where I dropped my shotgun ammo. I went back down in the lift, to where I had defeated the Proto Tyrant. No Proto Tyrant, but there was now a large hole in the wall leading to the curcular lift (that is by no means suspicious).
I played this originally on the game Cube, and I remembered only bits and pieces of the game. It's.... alright.

Next up: Resident Evil, (the HD Remaster, of the remake, of the game that started it all).

I think 0 is definitely one of, if not the most underrated of the main games. It doesn’t reach the highs of 1, 2, 3, and 4, but I really like the lore and classic gameplay with the twist of two characters. Rebecca and Wesker are among the series’ best characters. 1 though - HD Remaster especially - is better, and one of the best games I’ve ever played.
