Do we have any other fans of the Donkey Kong games here? To me, the Donkey Kong Country games particularly, are some of the most lovable, nostalgic, fun games ever, and I find myself going back to them a lot. One of my favorite tracks that is great to have on while working:

Amazing series, I grew up loving these so much. I'll never forget how excited I was on the ride home from my birthday party with Donkey Kong Country 2 in hand. My dad and I loved playing those games together.

I didn't get to experience a Donkey Kong game until Donkey Kong 64 (I went from a Sega Master System 2 (which I think was considered a success over here, but less so around the world) to Playstation to N64, bypassing NES/SNES completely). I remember it being a fun game. Actually, I might still have Donkey Kong 64. I sold off most of my N64 games years ago (something I deeply regret now), keeping a token handful, and I think DK64 is one of them.

So I realized something if I can’t beat a level and I complain about it on here magically I am able to beat it so I can’t beat silo now to play it and see what happens

In honor of the announcement of tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct, here’s this gem that never gets old:

It's a day ending in Y, so I am going for another playthrough...

It would be nice to get the Platinum, but I always get wrapped up in the story, that I overlook the specific requirements for some of the trophies. I reckon that if I go out of my way to do everything else on this run, unlocking Legendary mode, then play on Legendary difficulty on my next run, sticking to the story and getting the Platinum at the end.

I'm going to start the final DLC for Alan Wake Remastered tonight and then I'll have 100% of the trophies. I forgot just how atmospheric and fun this game was back in the Xbox 360 days, like a Stephen King novel come to playable life (which is fitting, considering the very first line in the game quotes the legend himself).

I was going to pick up Atomic Heart cause it looks fun but the more I see, the more hollow and linear it inevitably looks, and I've heard some bad takes of it being little more than extreme Russian propaganda. For $70, I'll wait or pass on it entirely. Might dive into Dark Souls 3 for the first time next for some more punishing rewards.

I knew vaguely of Atomic Heart, and was considering getting it. Though I knew nothing of the controversy surrounding it until your post. I just went and had a closer look....oof. When the developers put out a statement condemning hate, violence etc... but won't openly say they are in no way connected to the Russian government? I'll pass.

Yes, it's a bold take for sure, and all the more crazy that it's been in development so long (by a Russian developer, no doubt) and only now are these allegations of data harvesting and more coming out. Don't think that's worth even a dime of my money, gotta draw the line somewhere. I have a big backlog of games to get to anyway, can find one or two others to pass the time until RE4 hits next month finally.

So I have given up on being cool and beating goldeneye on 00 in order and since I keep dying at silo I have been trying a few levels on 00 I did beat Surface 2, Bunker 2 and Statue Park

I am trying between frigate silo and archives now….

If I can beat any of those three I will add in either depot or Jungle lol

I did. this once at 9 so I know it can be done

Though in replaying it I remember why I wasn’t the biggest fan of the game growing up I mean it was fun but give me The world is not enough Nightfire he’ll even Goldeneye Reloaded over this… sorry to fans of this game but hell the fact half way through you no longer get a silenced weapon (which would make archives in 00 way easier) the fact you can’t hear guards footsteps (again which would help with the stealth aspect of the game)

And more powerful weapons in say train are gone by the time you hit 00 agent

    Yeah sorry not my favorite

    Fallout 4.

I decided to restart all of my years of progress.

I hear a next gen version is coming out this year, I'd like to return to it if, and only if, they've actually fixed some of the lingering issues I had over the years. If not, I won't waste my money.

My biggest complaint was how the third person aiming was broken. Returned to it years and years after release to wrap up the DLC trophies and that was still the case. I could go into first person, land a shot, go into third person, take the same exact shot, and it'd slightly miss at times. Couldn't stand how it essentially ruined the third person option entirely.

I never played it in third person. Never was a fan of 3rd person games outside of GTA and EON/FRWL

    Goldeneye

9 levels left to beat in 00 I think I have a strong idea how to save 4/6 of the 6 hostages but trying to get 5 seems impossible for some reason but for those keeping count

Silo, frigate, depot, train, jungle, control, caverns, cradle and Aztec

Then I get Egypt once I beat that in all 3 I will have beaten the game three times lol

I burned through The Last Of Us: Part 1 on the PS5 (can't believe how stellar those upgrades were). I've gotten pretty burnt out on third person titles now, since the last three or four games I completed in full were such titles, so I've decided to shake it up and return to the FPS genre.

Resident Evil 4 comes out next month and didn't feel like diving into a brand new game again so I'm mixing up returning to Far Cry 6 again to beat these last two boss-centric DLCs (got Mind Level 5 to complete for Pagan then it's on to Joseph's DLC) and getting back into Enlisted.

Enlisted is super janky still but it's honestly one of the most cinematic and gripping FPS games I've played in a long time. It's surprisingly realistic and super rewarding when you go on a tear. Picked up Premium (or whatever it's called) again for $10 tonight cause I plan on sinking a stupid amount of time into it while I have it available for the next month, want to milk that double XP for all that I can. For a free to play title, it's so much fun, but definitely a time sink if you aren't wanting to put real money into it.

Haha, now I have a shield. That'll make getting into fights easier to survive.

    Sniper Elite 5
Sad to admit that I have neglected this for a some time. The level cap really needs raising, 40 is far too low. It can be reached before the campaign has even been finished. I played the Wolf Mountin dlc, and earned the 'Covert Elimination' trophy for eliminating Hitler, and exfiltrating without being detected. Sounds tougher than it actually is.

Amazingly ended up with the physical edition of Metroid Prime Remastered a day early. Check your local stores now and you might get lucky; I get the feeling this won’t have as many copies printed as it should for demand, and scalpers will be back at it.

The biggest issue that the PS4 ever made was not making it backwards compatible with the PS2/Ps3

Its not backward compatible on the Xbox One X either, thankfully I still had my Xbox 360 which is getting a lot of use again. I had a blast on the game earlier, I was not a huge fan of the games mechanics originally though still a lot of fun.

Just completed the pre title sequence on GoldenEye Reloaded Nicole Sherzinger really does butcher the title track and she is usually a very god singer, god knows what happen there. On leave so will be having a Bond game day today as its raining.

The shoot out in Valentin Zukovsky nightclub is atmospheric with the music playing in the background and disco lighting its very cinematic.

My good luck continues just found this for £1.50, the bad news is I am struggling to get it to work on my Xbox 360 despite already doing numerous updates, I hope I can resolve the issue.

Gr... not even sure if its compatible, need further investigation.

    ---

Really enjoying GoldenEye 007/ Reloaded despite being just shot to pieces as I gave away my position on the Severnaya stage I thought this was a game I did not like though it occurred to me it was GoldenEye: Rogue Agent I did not really get into, I had GoldenEye: Rogue Agent on the Wii and the controls were a bit awkward for me so did not enjoy the it.

I found this rummaging through storage boxes, I don't think I ever completed this game, I was a huge fan of the series on the earlier consoles.

My progression is still on my 360 profile though tempted to start the game from scratch.

Edited: My previous save is only a few stages into the game, had fun laser painting tanks and enemy soldiers for aerial attacks.
