    Prequel -
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

    Original movies -
    Manhunter
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
    The Godfather Part II

    Remake -
Infernal Affairs (I presume this to be the US version)

What a Completely ridicolous list from such a rexpected magazine.

Agreed. The problem in the list is that they are mixing two different things which, although not necessarily mutually exclusive, are not synonymous.

Ok, for the record, "The Phantom Menace" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" are prequels. They are films that were made after the original work but are meant to portray events that occurred before the original story. "Batman Begins" and "Casino Royale" are reboots. As far as the writers and producers of these films are concerned, the previous films in the series and everything that happened in them never happened. Kind of like the season of Dallas when Bobby was dead. It was all just Pam's dream!

    Casino Royale
    Batman Begins
    Manhunter
    Star Trek
    Godfather 2

all of those are not prequels

i dont even really consider Temple Of Doom a sequel - yes, it's set before the events of Raiders, but it really shares no connection with Raiders in any way - its sort of it's own thing... kind of like The Good The Bad and The Ugly, it's only a prequel in the eyes of fans, who only 'think' it is - there is no confirmation that it officially is one.. but seeing as how that is the popular consensus, i'll let it slide - along with TOD, i guess...

but 3 of the 5 above mentioned films are reboots - NOT prequels..

Manhunter was made before SOTL was made, how in the hell does that make it a prequel??? Because people werent as familiar with it until 'Lambs came out??.. thats just idiocy.... maybe they got this confused with Red Dragon??.. who knows..

The Godfather 2 IS a sequel, but often times flashes back to show Vito's rise to power, and how it mirrors/contrasts with Michael's... it's not a prequel.

whoever wrote this article is a moron.

I think The Godfather 2 is a partial prequel, and what makes it so brilliant is how the prequel part works so well with the sequel part.

Allow me to stick to reboots. I'll post a separate list of prequels later, if I feel so inclined.

    Favorite Reboots:
    1. Casino Royale
    2. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (not technically a reboot, but for all intents and purposes)
    3. Battlestar Galactica
    4. Batman Begins (Mainly because of how poor the Schumacher films were).
    5. Rise of the Planet of the Apes (if it is, in fact, a reboot).

    Question:
Does Batman '89 count as a reboot? Considering that a previous Batman feature film had been released in 1966 with Adam West.

If not, it's a reboot, and that still fits in this thread.
