Although, last I heard (today) he was on his way to California to film the pilot episode of The Son miniseries.
His career was running on the role he did not have... yet! I wouldn't have watched Live Wire, Murder 101, Noble House and what have you had he not almost played Bond and was he not (at the time) rumoured to be the next Bond.
And he had a pretty good career for 10 years since 1995- 2006 latter it statred to slow Down but 10 years its fine. Right now an actor's popularity just last like 3 years till next hit thing comes out. So he could consider himself lucky.
We all know Pierce is not like Daniel Day Lewis.
His appeal is more on his charisma, charm good lookis and driving us( the ladies) mad with his sex appeal.
he is talented and can portray the emotions needed for his characters but have never seen Pierce transform himself completely for a role. He is a a very good actor but not a great one. So for his limitations he has had a very good career and hey might get a comeback if this tv series succed.
But if not he did great while it lasted and most of the movie stars of his generation are slowing down: Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow and even Johnny Depp.
The new generations are coming in and if you are not like DDL it's possible they are close to be out.
Tom Cruise and Matt Damon are holding tight to their franchises Mission Impossible and Bourne.
The 90s generation is leaving it had to happen one day. Will i miss them sure they were the best to me i love the 90s movie stars they will alwas be my favorites but all acting generations leave at some point.
Even Robert De Niro and Al Pacino who are considered some of the greatest are slowing down

It was surprising to see that only three actors had a chance of getting a majority of votes on this forum.
Lately Chris Hemsworth was said to be considered to possibly be the next Bond.
Sure, it's all gossip but still, this story has gone around the world.
So, I ask you a simple question. Would you be ok with Chris Hemsworth getting the role? Why yes or why not?
The double imagery doesn't quite work for me.
Not interested in having either Thor or Loki playing Bond.
I know it's acting and actors can do different stuff, but still.
Hemsworth has aced the blonde haired hulking Norse God.
I prefer that an actor establish Bond first before flying off to do superheroes on the side.
Too late for Hemmy, I say. He's got plenty of future Thor sequels to keep him busy
He is double-plus awesome as God of Thunder!

But I am happy to see him fully milk Thor, and Eon give us a Bond we can call our own.
No sharesies.
But if it came down to it....I'm confident he could ease into the part just fine.
Kind of on the fence here I guess
Im praying for the next Bond to look the most universal appealing to the ladies as Possible but without alienating its main fan base which are the guys.
Correct me if im wrong but i have the feeling that with Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan the bond films were the real date movies.
Since it had the glam and male eye candy for woman and the action and the Bond girls for the guys and well The character of Bond appealed to Both in a different way
Every girl when they went to see the films said i want my James Bond and guys wanted to be bond, I think the closest contenders to it are Chris Hemsworth and Michael Fassbender.
Now Jack Houston is doing great with the female crowd thanks to Ben Hur.
