How much of a Fleming purist are you?

When it comes to enjoying the Bond actors and the portrayal of Bond do you care much if they are close to Ian Fleming's vision?

Personally if id put it in a scale from 1-10 id im 3.5
I only care that the films don't go much into comedy territory though i did like The Spy who loved me and Diamonds are forever and kerp Bond as one man and leave out the Code name thing but outside of it I couldn't care less on how close Fleming they are.

At the end with all respect to fleming the films have become bigger than the books. i guess only eith the exception of From Russia with love and Casino Royale the Bond films have been more just based on the books than real adaptations.

I'm happy as long as they use or at least try and use as much Fleming material
as they can. CR is a great example of how a book from 1953 can be made to
    feel completely contemporary.

The films must maintain the spirit of Fleming, even if they don't follow his stories to the letter.

Goldfinger is a good example. The film follows Flemings plot quite well, but it plays a lot more "breezy".

That's pretty much how I see it.

Why would that make anyone a purist?

I'm not a Fleming purist when it comes to the character of Bond or his novels.
