    @ Jarrod- that is an excellent observation regarding the similarities of the Moore and Brosnan eras. It's almost like the scripts or actor's interpretations of the character, with the exception of Lazenby, always tends to lean towards the more serious and realistic portrayal of a Connery/Dalton/Craig or the lighter humor of Moore/Brosnan in style. This also divides Bond fans into two camps as well. I'm not quite as militant as most people here because I refuse to entirely trash a Bond actor, which I find very sad to read when I do. The actor is only following the script and trying to do the best they can with what they have to work with.

    I wouldn't be so sure about Brosnan "out-suaving" Craig just yet. Up to date, yes, agreed, but Craig has yet to do the more classic Bond portrayal that include his fair share of well written quips. Connery was the suavest of all IMHO, and I think Craig may just surprise some people, I've seen indications that being suave on screen is well within his acting abilities. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

    I'd say that Brosnan's tenure can be seen as a replica to Moore's. After Connery left the role, the producers were heavily considering American actors (John Gavin before DAF and Burt Reynolds) to take over the role. But instead they opted for the safer Moore, who'd previously established his popularity in the Saint and The Persuaders. Brosnan fell into the same situation, with having established himself in Remington Steele, while wasting the 90s away until Bond picked him up. Dalton is similar to Lazenby in both portrayal and briefness, working as a sort of bridge between generations. Similar to the late 60s, the producers were again considering American actors like Brollin in the 80s. So sometimes when the producers think in terms of "risky," safe seems a little less scary. Brosnan was a hugely popular choice at the time, and though I was originally (at the time) wary of their choice (from being a Dalton fan), I've grown to appreciate Brosnan's portrayal. I think Goldeneye was a great introduction (despite the score), and I think the two that followed were fine films for the legacy. Though Die Another Day has some real short-comings, I really love some of the moments. Though not really a defender, I think this film is unfairly trashed. Though Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are far better scripted material, Brosnan out-suaves rings around Craig.

    Im not sure about Brosnan out-suaving Craig. Brosnan certainly looks more GQish but he always seemed like he was trying way too hard to be cool. It felt forced. So far I agree Craig has been a bit too broodish and not charming enough. IMO Connery and Moore succeeded best in this area. Their sense of cool was so natural it seemed effortless.

    Not the commercial success that Living Daylights had but one of the best films in the franchise. The seriousness, the dark brooding Dalton, the hot chicks. The brutal death scenes of the villians (and some good guys) really makes this a classic Bond film.

    QUANTUM OF SOLACE
    No where as good as CR but an enjoyable film.

    GOLDEN GUN:
    I liked the villian but the movie was not as good as LALD but fun to watch.

    TOMORROW NEVER DIES
    I agree that Brosnan was short changed as 007. The bad writing, terrible Bond women, weak villians. That sorry pattern began with this film. Paris is really bad and weak. No chemistry with Brosnan and Hatcher could barely act. The villian is very, very light weight. The actor who played Mr. White in Craig's films would have been a better choice. Seems like the production team just wanted to play it safe with Brosnan's Bond instead of letting him "let go". Of course we can't argue with success: his films are very popular and made a crap load of money still they progressively got worst after Goldeneye and the pattern began with his second outing.

    It's a toss up between LTK and TMWTGG, I love both these films. I love the bizarre aspects of TMWTGG and Roger Moore is in top form and LTK is pure Dalton through and through and he is absolutley superb in this one.

    TND beats QOS for me, I think it is Bond by numbers but it is entertaining and Brosnan gives his best performance. QOS is just a mess for me.
