Well, considering the only decent flicks post 1980 and pre-2006 are Daltons, you don't have much choice ;)

Just watched them both in a Bondathon last night: watch 'em both at the same time. Very good choice, @MajorDSmythe.

Ahh, here it is. I entered the exact same words of the topic title into the Search Bar and could not find it. Anyway:

It's not a huge choice, but I'm looking to either watch CR or QoS on blu-ray tonight, hoping to enjoy something with my Thanksgiving dinner, but I just can't decide which. Help?

CR. The infinitely superior film of the two.

    FRWL
    Moore
    FYEO
    Dalton
    TLD
    Bronsan
    Goldeneye

I want to watch a Bond film tonight, but ofcourse i don't know which one. So which one should i watch, i'm thinking instead of watching MI:3 which is shown tonight on television. Do you guys have some examples?

Why not type the numbers 1 to 22 into a randomiser and see which one comes out? That's always a fun way to do it.
  • Moonraker (1979), it's childish adolescent nonsense, but does has some redeeming qualities and simply put is a fun filled two hours of Moore globe trotting to extremes and beyond. When the Saint Marks Square Venice bit comes up, go and make a coffee or something unless you're six years old and like your Bond a bit more straight faced

I did put the numbers in a randomizer, and the number that appeared was #17. So i go for Goldeneye tonight ;)

Enjoy! It's always a fun way of choosing a film yourself as I find Bond fans never can give an unbiased choice.
  • I say Goldfinger. Classic Bond and it always fun to see Oddjob throw his hat.

It depends on whose your favorite Bond actor, Bond decade of films, etc.

    1960s: TB
    1970s: MR
    1980s: TLD
    1990s: TND
    2000s: CR

So i watched LALD and TMWTGG the other night. I was surprised of how fun and entertaining LALD was. And i do still think TMWTGG is one of the best films in the series, and Moores best.

But considering to this, which Bond films do you recommend me to watch tonight after a long and stressfull week?

In the style of @PrinceKamalKhan, here's my recommendation list:

1960's: From Russia with Love and Thunderball
1970's: Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die, and The Spy Who Loved Me
    1980's: All 5
    1990's: All 3
2000's: Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace

If you're looking for Fleming's 007, then Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Thunderball, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights, and Casino Royale are your go-to Bonds.

If you're looking for larger-than-life escapist fun, then Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Die Another Day are your choices.

All right, well after a long and stressful week, much like I've had this entire school year, I try and pick the Bond movie that I haven't seen in a few months, or which ever one seems to be most appealing at the moment. For example, about a month ago, I was thinking of a Bond double feature to do, and I remembered that I hadn't seen either DN or MR in a while, and with both of them being space themed, I thought it'd make a good double feature.

Strangely enough GF is one Bond film where I would hate to actually do Bond's mission in real life. I'd jump at the missions in the other Connery Bond films though. I think I could actually do better in GF that Bond. I sure as hell wouldn't get captured a bagillion times.

@Brady: I wish you would jump in and take over the role! Goodness knows Connery didn't do squat in GF!

Thunderball. I think it's a film that, without being very widly recognized like Goldfinger or Casino Royale as classics, is probably one of the most classic Bond films their are. In it, you have Bond saving the world from SPECTOR, a great villin in Largo, and great Bond girls in Claudine Auger, and Luciana Paluzzi, (perhaps my personal favorit Bond girl of all time). Their's so many great things in Thunderball from the actors, to the locations, but what is perhaps most important of all is that X-factor, that sparcle that makes a good movie amazing. It's a great movie, full stop, and among the Bond movies, it's one of the best...

I'll second that. TB is my favorite Bond film for both the reasons you mentioned and the fact it's the only Bond film to combine Terence Young's directorial style from the first 2 films with the big budget, Panavision epic feel we would later find in the Lewis Gilbert and Peter Hunt films.

I'd recommend Live and Let Die right now, you know it make sense. We talked about how recently what a damn fine Bond adventure it is and I will be watching this later, looking forward to it actually

If not that, then as second and third choices, Octopussy or Goldeneye respectively
  • sometimes it depends on the mood and how much time i've got. If I need something quick I will put on QOS...if I need to just chill out and relax...and have a laugh...MR....if I need a well made thrilling dramatic Bond adventure I put on OHMSS....and if I need to remind myself it possibly couldn't get any worse I put on DAD...

I played it safe and watched on one of the best in the franchise, TLD. Top 3 material without a doubt!
