There are some great standout performances by Bond actors in some films (like Craig in QoS, Moore in TMWTGG & Dalton in TLD), but the top 10 is a lonely place, and a difficult one to break into.
Thanks @0BradyM0Bondfanatic7 - I was worried that that particular saying wouldn't translate well to our friends in the Continent.
So GE is not a Gold Standard? :-)
From my list people can see I prefer the more grounded and at times, darker Bond films that don't rely heavily on such over the top camp as others, not that I don't mind having a spice of something like the Moore era from time to time, of course.
LTK for me deserved a spot because I think it is truly one of the prominent adult Bonds. It is a dark revenge tale that implies rape, shows the aftermath of brutal murder, features instances of disembodiment and cranium implosions, and blood galore. It's shocking how mature and no-holds barred it feels even today with the Craig films. It tackles some serious subject matter that is nothing to sniff about. And of course Dalton is my favorite Bond behind Sean and Dan, Pam is one of my top favorite Bond girls, Sanchez is deliciously entertaining, and I enjoy the clashes that happen between Bond and his superiors when he feels conflicted on whether to follow his head or heart after the tragedy Felix and his wife face. All in all, a great entry for me that I need to pop in again soon.
Neither is GF! (Though it's closer than GE. And much closer than TMWTGG) ;)
It's a good job Bond's 60s villains were such gentlemen to him, as you could make a drinking game out of the number of times Bond is knocked out and on the precipice of death throughout, only to slide his way out of it for little reason at all. In FRWL Grant thought he was savoring and stalling his one moment with Bond before making the kill, but here's Oddjob with at least three opportune chances to head hunt Bond with his hat, and Goldfinger with a similar amount, but they never do it. "Old man" Grant would be embarrassed if he witnessed it all.
Because let's be clear: Dr. No made Bond a five-start meal and gave him a furnished apartment to relax in while under capture, Grant allowed him one last fine dining experience and smoke before making his move with the garrote wire and Largo invited 007 over to his pad and allowed him to fox up his woman, but even they wouldn't have stood for this! Goldfinger was begging to be foiled, if you ask me. ;)
I think Criag shakened everything involving Bond, now people expect much more from Bond than Blockbuster entretainment and now when suggesting Bond actors now people suggest thespians.
I wonder if Michel Fassbender would have been such a favorite for Bond if we were back to 2005.
He isn't a sure no since he is very good looking in a more conventional way than Daniel but not as much as Henry Cavil who was one pf the producers favorites back then.
But since Casino Royale the stakes have been highly elevated.
I don't admire the job BB has in front of her.

With actors like Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth, Michael Fassbender, Aidan Turner and so many others around that could do Bond, I have no fear at all that Bond No 7 will be a huge success.
And even if Craig stays for a fifth, and he should, it will be easy casting a new Bond in 2019/2020.
Tom is just sooo stagey; Chris I do like but would be almost cartoonish at this point because of Thor, he hasn't been able to stretch beyond this role; Fassbender is the most interesting, yet would cost bank (and I'm not absolutely convinced with his acting, and I say that as a fan; sometimes, to me, he can be monotone), and; Aidan's a pouty novice and as on the nose as Hiddles. Just my opinion, for sure, but, from my gut, there's just nothing exciting about most of the actors you mentioned.
I know I would be lost as a Bond fan if any of the above were cast. Just, once again, from the gut, they don't give that... umpff..
When DC was first cast, I was confused. I was against it. Then I watched some of his films, ending in LAYER CAKE and it was an uh-huh moment.
Then came the trailers for CR, and that uh-huh got a lot louder.
And then, finally, watching CR, I was sold. Something I wasn't, at the beginning, when I was watching CNN at the gym, and he was introduced to us, looking uncomfortable bouncing in the boat on the Thames in his suit and life jacket.
But his body of work spoke very loudly to me after I started to research who the hell this weird looking man was. And he delivered, and was no longer a weird choice, but the best and only choice.
Sadly, the same can't be said about the actors you mentioned above.

You're the 64th voter already. And you're the first forummember giving "Doctor No" 12 points :-D! Even after so many voters, you would expect that one movie starts running away with the gold medal. It's NOT the case. The difference between 1st place and 2nd place is now FF-ING POINTS 8-}
I'd say top three, OHMSS, FRWL, CR (maybe GF or GE)

Yeah, I agree. But I do like to give those people the opportunity to vote. Perhaps you can help me convincing the remainder of the voters in the Bond Rankings Topic to come here?
