One of my favorite Bond casino scenes is the one in OP where Bond beats Khan at his own game. DN is obviously the #1 casino scene though.

The OP one is excellent. I love that he plays backgammon instead of chemin de fer.
Roger is as cool as it gets: "Double sixes. Fancy that. 200,000 rupies."

Maybe a thing where everyone else was too afraid to call him out?

Oh yeah. GE has easily one of the best third acts of the series. IMO the series' best third acts:

DN, FRWL, YOLT, OHMSS, LALD, FYEO, LTK, GE, CR, SF

GF and TSWLM I considered adding; I count them too then if I’m going beyond Top 10. I know I’m in the minority of enjoying SF’s third act.

    For weakest third acts:

DAF, MR, TLD, TND, TWINE, DAD, SP

I didn't add OP because I'm rather fond of the plane battle at the end. But other than that yeah it's sort of meh. My least favorite segment of any Bond film is pretty much a tie between MR and DAD's third acts. They're just... ugh.

It’s a letdown for sure. Very dull and unoriginal. I know you dislike the film as a whole a lot more than me, but the third act I definitely concede is very disappointing.

Damn - that opening is killer. Gets the blood pumping for sure. I still maintain there is room for the gun barrel at the top of this film. Craig looks cool as hell.

I still don't get Mitchell's plan here. He's only got Bond left - he has a gun. Why not fight it out rather than run? Is it his job to extricate White or is he trying to kill everyone? I've never liked how it looks like M gets shot either.

The rooftop chase is excellent. Love Bond slamming into the wall as he jumps across the roof onto the balcony.

Funnily enough - for me, Mr White is the Blofeld for Craig era Bond - not Blofeld.

16 minutes in and Bond has already been to three countries. Just breaking into slate's room in Haiti.

Always liked how Bond turns away when he's killing Slate. A flash of Fleming.
Craig is in great form in QoS - looks the bollocks.

I do love me a 'Universal Exports' appearance.

I love that scene too, but I took Bond looking away as him scanning for witnesses and hoping the guy wold hurry up and bleed out before one appeared.

Could definitely be take that way. I like to think he's a little uncomfortable with it but finding it necessary. Like putting a badly wounded animal out of its misery. It is nice that it's open to interpretation though!

The boat chase is intense but it's not a sequence that comes to mind when I think of QoS - not like the car chase or rooftop rundown. Love the music just after Bond escapes and approaches the jetty with an unconscious Camille.

First appearance of Greg Beam and his awesomely douchey moustache.

I do love the haunting, mysterious tone of Arnold's work in QoS. It kind of has elements of the intriguing DAF score.

I'll never understand the uselessness of Elvis from a writer's POV. It was an opportunity to put in a good henchman who could be straining at the leash. It's just a wasted opportunity.

On a side note - two years ago my wife and I went to the opening night of Tosca at the local theatre. We even dressed up. I had a vodka martini before going in, naturally.

I love how much Italy shows up in Craig era films. Especially seeing as I'm there often. Mathis makes a welcome return.

return of the 'vesper' theme as Bond is getting hammered drunk. Just once I'd like to fly on a plane that has a bar that serves vespers in the middle of the night.

Jeez - whoever chose that coat for Gemma Arterton needs a talking to. It's horrible. Cop leading shirtless criminal away on the street during the Bolivian taxi ride is a nice touch.

The Craig era really brought back the scarificial female heavily - CR, QoS and SF all have them - which makes Belluci's survival all the more surprising in SP. (between OP and DAD there is only Paris in TND).
