Bernard Lee does not look well in TMWTGG.

His wife had died, his house had burned down, he was out of money and had taken his alcohol consumption to another level.

LALD. The cinematography during the bayou boat chase is some of the best in the series.
I've always felt that way too. There is an immediacy and liveliness to the non scored portions of the chase, and an ominous aspect to the sections which are scored. It's beautifully filmed and Moore actually being in the boat piloting it has a lot to do with why the sequence is so thrilling for me.
LALD has one of the best collection of secondary characters. From allies like Felix, Strutter, and Quarrel Jr., to henchmen like Baron Samedi, Whisper, and Tee Hee and all the rest like Sheriff Pepper, Mrs. Bell, and the rest. Magnificent.
I completely agree. Amazing group of highly charismatic secondary characters who all shine in their limited time on screen. OP gives me the same feeling, but to a far lesser degree.
It was in the teens for me for years but in the past two to three years it's sat in the 4-6 range. The movie just packs so much into two hours and moves along so briskly. Many talk about TSWLM being when Bond took stunts to the next level, but I believe it really started here. And the story is quite engaging as well.
You could be right, and I intend to move it up in my ranking when I next do one. I just viewed it about a month ago and had a blast.

I love JW. Anytime someone asks me something and my response is negative I like to say "Hay-yell NO"

My girlfriend just gave me an early Christmas gift:
The James Bond Blu ray 24 film set. Many of these I haven't seen on Blu -ray..........so Im starting with

    THE SPY WHO LOVED ME

So far this is miles above the 2006 UE DVD.

I have to say, though TSWLM is a hard one to mess up in terms of color timing.
With the exception of the 1992 VHS remastered edition, Most versions looks reasonably close to the cinematic colors.

I was marveling at the beauty of the TMWTGG transfer last night. It looks as good as a I remember it being in the theater; probably better.

They did a nice job on that one as well. The only Bond film I haven't seen in the theater.

XXX and Gogol meeting. Barbara looks great in the uniform.

I miss General Gogol. He was a great regular character in the Moore era.

DN, GF, TB, YOLT and DAF I saw at drive-ins within a year to three of their respective releases. Everyone after I saw in a theatre when released except for TND. I ended up seeing OHMSS on the big scree, but it was 50 years later, and it was a lousy print.

I love catching the early ones on the rare occasion they get played. Fun to see the old UA logos.
I saw OHMSS back in '09 on a relatively small screen, but okay print. There were some scratches, but the colors looked good.

Jaws! I remember loving the Jaws character when I was 4 and wishing he were in every Bond film.

Around the time MR, TSWLM was playing on HBO quite often and my Dad and I would watch it together on our old black and white set.

I remember the Egypt scenes vividly from those airings. The shot of Sandor dead on the cobblestone road stands out.

Bond meeting Stromberg. I am in awe of this transfer. I'm so enthralled I'm barely posting.
I love Anya here and her reactions to Bond's needling her.

Lotus chase. Roger does his nod to Naomi.

I must say after the DB5, the Lotus here is my favorite Bond car. The other Astons don't quite measure up, IMO.............even the invisible one.

    Beautiful Hamlisch score here.

@ToTheRight - Love that exchange. But I love the head nod in FYEO even more.

The FYEO nod is my favorite. As a kid I counted all the times Roger did that and TMWTGG seemed to be the only film lacking in that Moore-ism.

That's why TMWTGG is his worst!

At least he does a mock bow at the dojo.

Bond gets a trim between shots as he lights Anya's cigarette. His neck is neatly blocked (not tapered) in the close up.

That's right! In OP we get it twice: to the guards on the back of the truck-really more of a smirk, then to Kamal after Magda gives him the egg.

When does he do it in LALD, again?

For AVTAK, is it his response to Mayday redirecting him at the party? That one's hilarious as well. Probably my next favourite.

In LALD he does it to Tee-hee on the train. "Mr Bond It's good to see you again"

Yeah, in AVTAK it's to Mayday at the party. That's a great one.
He also does it on top of the firetruck as a response after he sees the two cars stuck together.

Ah, right. And in MR it's to Jaws on top of the cable cars?

Right. A classic Roger-ism. Sometimes it seems more of a smirk. Like later in TSWLM to Jaws when egging him on to smile before releasing the magnet on him. I feel like there's another one somewhere.......

The full-blown smile he gives Jaws when they first meet face-to-face in MR is quite funny.

He kind of does the head tilt when he says "Play it again San" in MR. He also does something of the sort in the bobsled track in FYEO, complete with a salute.
