It's so damn obvious that he's using loaded dice, everyone's so amazed that he rolls a six whenever it's needed, and only Bond thinks of using the same damned dice? Crap. And the GF rip off at the end.

It's one of the many things that are not well thought out about the Glen era (compared with the meticulous direction of Young, Campbell and maybe Mendes). But the repartee between the two in the scene (and throughout the movie) is great.

Why is Felix so uptight in this one (DAF).

Bond is just trying to give the girls some breaststroke lessons. None of the other Leiter's were as grumpy as this one.

Maybe he's mad Bond is making being out of shape look so easy. :))

Okay, now that I'm almost finished with the film, finally, all I can think of is Austin Powers. All of Blofeld's men are wrearing these cute blue-orange outfits and I'm almost certain the guy who does the countdown is close cousin of the similar character from the first AP movie.

The same monotone voice in the midst of the base exploding around him.

But to more important matters; Tiffany in bikini... what a woman.

Now that I bring it up, my Felixes:

Michael Pate from CR '54 is actually my favorite, but I will disqualify him as: A. He's British and B. He is referred to as Clarence Leiter.

    1. Bernie Casey - Despite the racial switch, his portrayal is closest to that in the books and he is the only one that's friendship with Bond comes off as completely genuine.
    2. David Hedison - Enjoyable to watch. Coming back full-circle to complete what happens to the character in the novel LALD 16 years later definitely adds to his cache.
    3. Jeffrey Wright - Interesting portrayal, wonderful actor, but not at all reminiscent of Fleming's Felix.
    4. Norman Burton - I like this guy.
    5. Jack Lord - Has the look, but far too arrogant and dull a interpretation of the character for my taste.
    6. Rik Van Nutter - Looks closest to the description in the novels, but what a goddamned goofball. I realize that much of it is in the script, but this guy comes off as a total doofus.
    7. Cec Linder - Odd choice to follow Lord. Almost as if a statement was being made. Not horrible.
    8. John Terry - Horrible. Hard to believe how great this guy was 25 years later on LOST.

No Bond flicks for me (at least until the evening but probably i will go for a horror flick as its Halloween tomorrow) but i just wanted to point out that one Felix should have been given more films and a chance to shine and be tough,my favourite : Rik Van Nutter.

    Up again :P

That was a blast last night, thanks guys.

As for Felix Bernie Casey is the man.

David Hedison for obvious reasons is my No 2 as well, although I believe Jack Lord would have been great for the whole Connery era. Opportunity missed there.

As for viewing another Bond.... HELL YES BRING IT ON :))

I may continue my Bondathon tonight as I still have CR, OHMSS and TWINE on the menu.

Can't wait for OUR GET TOGETHER for TMWTGG or LALD. @SharkBait @birdleson (if you like to join) and @barryt007

Next Saturday sounds like a plan but I am ready any time really.

Hedison's a funny one with me. Of all the Felix's he's probably the most likeable but I think his performances sometimes fluctuate.

He's excellent in the scene outside his house in LTK and again when confronted with the thugs moments later. But his whimper of "Della" as he's coming round feels cheesy and unconvincing.

In LALD he's pretty much the comic relief. The "intensive care" line has always bugged me too. Feels so cheap (surely that means Mrs Bell had a heart attack bought on by Bond).

It's pretty grueling yes. The Brosnan era was as "dark and gritty" as the current era, no difference.

This is the M I love, strong, witty, relentless.
I hate how they made her stupid, weak, unlikable in SF, a scandal really.
