I think he stabbed him. The choke hold was to keep him from making a sound.

He would have more hair on his chest than his head in 10 years time.

it suits the film so well, still would have been interesting to know what Barry would have offered.
I'm very biased on the unknown qualities of the score. If it's incidental music for action or suspense, I suspect it's Barry's arrangement or he wrote it and is uncredited. But that's me.

The blu ray is pretty good, but out of nostalgia I'd like to find an early VHS copy so I can occasionally watch it as I remember from my youth.

I would like to hookup the old VHS as well! See if I can spot any variations as the film as evolved over the years in transfers. I have a couple Bond laserdiscs as well. Trying to find the first criterion editions with the banned commentaries for DN/FRWL/GF

Apparently the very early 20th Century Fox VHS copy had a lengthier scene of Bond being beaten by the guards. I'd like to find it and see if that's true.

reminds me how bad LTK truly is in the violence department, unnecessary graphic, not very effective either, just off-putting.

    Why were they banned?

There were some inappropriate remarks/language and some more honest somtimes harsher commentary, I think some directed towards Fleming but I don't know for sure as I have not heard them yet before. There is a downloadable version of them on some Bond fansites, but I'd rather wait to listen on the original disc.

    Bond clearly cared about Quarrel.

    DN's violence is more effective.

I'm considering collecting the CBS/Fox VHS collection as I only have a couple of the last VHS releases

Those were my favorites. Two distinctly different transfers of DN in that lot. One was slightly squeezed with a far more worn print. The other looked just like the clips from the Happy Anniversary 007 Roger Moore special.

The "damn coffee" bit is funny. The crash is very loud in the original mono sound. My friend and I would play that scene over and over just to hear that crash.

Some of those differences is what keeps the series we've watched hundreds of times still interesting. Seeing it as it was seen before I was born, when I was born, and today. I almost want to get an old tube tv now to watch the VHS's on.
