Not one of my favorite title songs, but it's not too bad. Certainly loads better than DAD's. Credits are enjoyably trippy.

Last scene with Desmond Llewelyn is really wonderful. Forever the best Q.

No question. Always a bittersweet moment, his final appearance in that. Such a cool exit for his character, though.

It made me cry when I saw it for the first time. When I saw at the end of the film that Desmond had passed away I was quite devastated to be honest. It makes the scene even more valuable. Much more valuable.

I remember this one getting worse as time goes along, but for now, it's mostly started off on the right note.

That’s the beauty of Bond. We all have different ways of viewing the same movies.
@Andi1996Ruegg how is Jason going out of interest?
Is he watching any Bond movies?
I know when I’m recovering from anything and nothing as major as Jason has had to endure, a good Bond film can help immensely.

When Jase visited his workplace in mid-December (army base) we organized a viewing of The Spy Who Loved Me. It was a dozen guys including the base commander and it went beautifully. Lots of clapping (pts, we are para-scouts) and cheering in general.
Nobody does it better. And it was the most perfect viewing experience, I will never forget it. Jase was happy and almost carefree for two hours. A great gift.
Hence my appreciation and affection for the Bond films. They do a lot of good to so many people.

Bond meeting Elektra. Good scene; Elektra is a really good character, and my second favorite Brosnan Bond villain after Alec. The weakest aspects of this film don't come until later (Renard and Christmas).

Of all the snow-set action scenes, TWINE features my least favorite. Just sort of blah. TWINE is so up-and-down when it comes to the action.

Bringing back Valentin was a great idea. An excellent supporting character from GE and here as well.

Renard is such a disappointing villain. Not as outright offensive as Christmas is, but still should have been way better.

Renard has to be weak, he's a means to an end for Elektra.

That's true, but his character still could have been more interesting IMO. I will say so far this is shaping up to be my best viewing of TWINE in a while.

Aren't you the one who ranks all 4 of Brosnan's films last?

All subjective. I will agree with you that collectively the Brosnan era is the weakest.

I beg to differ! That's clearly the Dalton era, Brosnan knocks that one out of the park in all aspects :P

Nah. DAD single-handedly messes up the Brosnan era, and TWINE still will fall on the weaker side overall.

    Lol don't tell Jason that.

Right now this is neck-and-neck with SP for my ranking. Way better than DAD, but still dragging at times.

Brosnan is the Adam West of Bond.Translated: He sucks

Dalton is more like Batfleck, that is pretty damn great.

Our asylums are full of people who think they're Napoleon...or that the Brosnan era is superior to the Dalton era.

As of now, my ranking of the eras combined:

    1. GE
    2. LTK
    3. TLD
    4. TND
    5. TWINE
    6. DAD

So overall Dalton has the edge for sure, but GE is a long-time favorite of mine.

Second half of the film definitely is on the weaker side. There are less highlights from here on out. I do personally enjoy the caviar factory scene though.

I'm always torn on TWINE. I admire its ambition but lament its execution and wish it held its nerve and delivered a truly different Bond film. TND doesn't have those ambitions - it is set piece after set piece in a more traditional Bond film so it actually achieves its goals. I think TWINE has some good work from Carlyle, Coltrane, Marceau and Dench but it lacks in action sequences (although the boat chase and mine sequences standout) and I wish it didn't telegraph the reveal of Elektra as the villain so much.

One of my favorite lines. Valentin is great.

Good torture scene with Elektra and Bond. I'll take this one over SP's torture scene.

There is a lot of psychology in play when we decide our favourites. Or is that psychiatry?

Valentin giving Bond a chance as he dies was a nice touch. TWINE struggles at several points, but it has a lot of nice, noteworthy touches.

    I won't ask again...

    CALL HIM OFF!!!

    That still makes me chuckle.

Not crazy about this climax much at all. Elektra's death is the last scene that interests me in particular. No doubt TWINE will still end up in the bottom section of my ranking, but I did get some more enjoyment out of it today than the last couple times.
