I love the energy and aggression in this film, there is no pointless melodrama.

Love the retro freeze frame when Bond opens the boot with Mr White in, the title track for me much better than what followed. The title sequence feels retro a theme throughout the film, one of my mates I watched this at the cinema said afterwards it feels old fashioned, I said in response that's why I think this film is great.

The roof top chase has a real Hitchcock feel to it, there is some great stunt work also.

This film really does not waste many scenes, upto now every shot has me glued to the screen. Bond acts according to his training and instincts for the most part which IMO brings out the best in Craig, this film rarely if at all exposes Craig's weaknesses.

The silver rimmed sun glasses Bond has in this I have a very similar pair.

I love the Universal Exports card Bond gives to Elvis with R. Sterling printed on it, subtle nod to TSWLM

You read my mind after I wrote that I thought Age, the gaps between his films have not helped Craig's tenure.

Sadly not. He's mellowed out. The natural intensity is gone. Now he has to 'act' it and it shows.

I love the Opera scene the camera never stops moving which effectively builds the tension, pure Bond when Craig snaps the door handle.

I see that and it poses an interesting question, is Craig's performance's or the material given to him more responsible for IMO less intense films in SF and SP.

For me the entire Vienna Opera section is the best of QoS and also of Arnold's tenure.

In recent years it's the Score I listen to the most, the Opera House is a great sequence as Bond is investigating and Spying and it's directed very effectively.

Plus I am a fan of Opera, Tosca is very well incorporated into the scene.

Agreed. I'm also a fan of the Puccini scene in MI-RN for similar reasons. Both very well done.

It's a good scene in RN, certainly the sniper moment is very well built up, in QoS the scene when Bond is calling out well SPECTRE in the Opera House is bloody awesome and then Bond is confronted by Greene and his Henchman in the lounge/hallway again pure Bond.

Bond and Mathis I like there arc, very much DC's Kerim Bay.

One minor irritation is the location lettering in the film, we don't need it

DC is at his best in this, Mathis Death scene is brilliant.

The plane sequence is Uber Spectre, it's fricking awesome brilliant score.

I liked Kurylenko's acting during the Mathis death scene. I thought she showed her discomfort and sensitivity very well, without overdoing it. I wasn't overly impressed with her in the film, but that sequence stood out.

I also liked the three TSWLM callbacks. I wonder whose idea those were.

Subtlety is key in this film performances are raw and organic and not staged so much, there are a few references from several films some probably not needed the film on its own is good. Unfortunately the last few decades have way too many winks to the past and less subtle than QoS.

Terribly unfortunate indeed. Subtle as a sledgehammer.

I don't mind the odd reference though references never need exposition of a sledgehammer ;)

Arnold's score is great, the finale sounds like Barry at times its that good. As a composer Arnold's Bond score were improving by each film, Newman not in the same league when comes to Bond.

I'm not a fan of Arnold due to his work during the Brozza era, but I agree that QoS is probably his best along with CR. Very good scores, both.

The moment when Camile eyes dart across the flames with her reliving her trauma is so quick though very well done.

Love the shot when DC bounces out of the flaming building after blowing up the wall they breached, the DC bounce is almost identical to a similar SC shot from YOLT, it's very subtle though looks great.

@bondjames early on I think Arnold did action themes well though could not do incidental music well.

Perhaps @Fire_and_Ice_Returns. I'm one of the few who likes the fact that he didn't use the Bond theme all that much in CR/QoS. I think it forced him to be a little more creative and push himself, and his scores and melodies are the better for it.

The Bond Theme appears more in DC first two films than the last few films, Arnold did mature as a composer I would welcome him back as it's guaranteed he would have some Bond ideas in his locker.
