I’ve actually been in the mood to rewatch TLD lately. Perhaps later tonight or tomorrow!

    Got it.

One thing that always stays the same is that the PTS is the best scene. A series highlight.

I've said many times that TLD completely falls apart for me when we get to Afghanistan. It occurs to me upon this viewing that my annoyances with that segment would probably be cut in half if Kara had been left behind in Tangier.

Or Bond shot her dead in the opening scene.

I think I will go for quite the odd double feature today: MR and TLD.

MR just started. We begin with a pretty solid PTS.

Now one of my favorite title songs. The film does really begin well.

I don’t want to get my hopes up, but I’m feeling like this may finally be the watch that MR moves up a little...

Drax isn’t one of my favorite villains, but he’s still pretty good.

    Centrifuge scene - definite highlight.

I do underestimate the first half of MR. It doesn't get overly silly yet, and really has the feel of any other good Bond classic.

Double take pigeon is the first serious mistake.

    Gallery fight is nice

My appreciation for MR is growing a LOT today.

    “Do you know him?”

“Not socially... his name’s Jaws; he kills people.”

    Love it.

Great sequence marred by Jaws getting a gf... sigh.

Boat chase is cool. I love that they brought back the old classic track from the Connery era.

MR will be moving up in my ranking today.

Glad to read that. I've always liked MR personally. It's not a film to take seriously. The production qualities, location photography and sets in themselves are exceptional and everyone is just having a blast.

Yeah. I went in taking it less seriously so that helped. I’m having more fun than usual with it! Lots of good moments really.

Best watch of MR ever. Not even close. Wow.

Broccoli saw the blockbuster world had changed forever with SW. He also was still in the process of re-establishing the Bond brand positioning post Saltzman. So he decided to go all in with an outlandish entry. I'm glad we have it in the pantheon, just as I'm glad we have QoS, which imho similarly capitalized on a trend of the time (Bourne) and LTK which did the same with the gritty and violent actioners which were the rage in the late 80s.

I quite agree. It's an amazing back catalog for every mood and flavour.

Absolutely. My love for Bond won’t ever die!

    TLD is up next!

One of the best PTSs ever.

This is so different from MR. But both are quite fun in different ways.

I have always liked the second-half a lot better.

I think the first 20 minutes are the strongest. Then the middle is particularly good too, up until around the jail scene or so.

Love the scenes in Vienna - especially the carnival sequence.

I agree @FoxRox, TLD is quite a solid Bond entry. What ruins it for me is Kara-- I like the idea of her character, but, man, physically she's skeletal and creepy. Forget Goldfinger's Laser-Pulveriser, Kara's hips and pelvic bone are enough to destroy 007 for good.

Plus-- she must've been an only child
