This climax trades action for suspense.

I think it works well here, really.

    ...........and Bond shoots Scramanga.

I think it could have been a better ending after all that build up.
They could have kept the deleted scenes in for a start.

Great miniature work in this one.

I'm far more enthralled and riveted by this simplistic ending than, say SP.

Fight with Nick Nack is pretty funny.
I'd love return to this type of scenario where the henchman shows up in the final scene for one last little fight.

I'd probably agree even more with you if I could ever get through the ending of SP without shutting off the player beforehand.

This one is a lot of fun. Love the bottle fight but always thought Bond got NicNac into that suitcase a bit too easily. I wouldn't have gone back to that bed with all the glass around either. I like the way it segues into a slower version of Lulu's track too.

I think Bond 25 and 26 need to follow a simple template like this film. That would help the releases come soon, I think.

Yes. I also love M waiting on the phone. Underrated ending, IMO.

I do hope so. I'm tired of getting one film, waiting several years, then eventually getting another.

That drives me mad...if M knew the number of Scaramanga's junk then why didn't he just send a 00 out to kill him !

Excellent viewing of TMWTGG to honor Sir Roger on the anniversary of his passing.
When I was younger , TMWTGG was my least favorite entry for quite some time, but in the years that passed we we subjected to TWINE, DAD, and SP. We were also subjected to the departure from tradition in most of the Craig films.

These days TMWTGG holds up remarkably well for me. An underrated classic to go up in my rankings a bit for sure.

That one is soooooooooooooooo drawn out. So many pauses in-between dialogue too, gets annoying.

"My wounds will heal...". "what about yours!"

    "Finish it" "...............no bullets."

I turn off at this stage as well,or fast forward it to when Bond collects the Aston.

It was an enjoyable viewing I must say. I really discovered how deliberately low key this adventure is, though all the traditional elements are present. In addition the light -hearted vibe gives one the sense that the filmmakers felt as though they were on a vacation while making this entry.

+3. Great reading your ongoing commentary of an underappreciated Bond film.

Got a hired for a new job yesterday, and we got the official announcement that B25 is indeed commencing with Universal in December.

    Time to celebrate with..........

    DR NO

    A few minutes in.

The gunbarrel was most excellent, but IMO, would actually be improved in the next film.

Strangways has an amazing old school look and style.

I need to go back to 1962.

Connery's eyebrows look like two MAGNUM P.I. mustaches on his forehead.

I love this M scene. My favorite in the series, actually.

    This damned Beretta again!
This scene is what hooked me on Bond when I was a kid. Getting scolded for his Beretta.
I loved his shoulder holster with the blue straps.

When I saw OCTOPUSSY in the cinema a few weeks later I noted Roger's brown leather strapped holster. My Dad had a blue necktie so I took it and some elastic strap and made a little shoulder holster.

It was hard to find a toy gun that looked exactly like Bond's PPK. I did find a couple that to me looked close enough. I had a Navy Blue blazer and put in on, and ran around my neighborhood pretending to be Bond.

Sometime that summer my Dad took me to an antique music/furniture store that had a little barber shop around the corner.

I asked for a Bond haircut as my current locks looked more like, well, Mark Hamill's in A NEW HOPE. I have still have a picture somewhere of the end result.

Bond just destroyed Mr Jones. Another scene that hooked me on Connery's 007.

Bond places the hair on his closet door. Another of my favorite scenes.

The scenery is beautiful in these shots. I love the docks and mountains in the background.

I wonder how similar Jamaica looks today. Be interesting to know if these locations still exist.
