Was the 'with pleasure M ,with pleasure' in SF a tribute to 'with pleasure' ,Bond to Mr Chang in DAD ?

I was just going to pop that one in. I really love every aspect of the PTS. In fact the entire first half hour is great. Jinx and Madonna start the erosion, but there is plenty more to enjoy from there up to and including the ice chase. After that, we're done.

Go for it old chum...its 23:30 here but the wife is out for the night and i fancied a blast..Bond about to infiltrate the clinic..i love this bit.

Its almost a John Barry score in the clinic scenes.....God i love David Arnold...so glad i watched him on his guitar doing the JB theme with the London orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall.

    Wish I saw that.

It was at the end of the CR live orchestra performance...one hell of a memory, they did the whole of David's soundtrack throughout the film showing on the massive screen, and were pitch perfect, then he came on and strummed the JB at the end and then the whole orchestra kicked in.

Pierce had at least 2 more Bond films in him...and i still rate this over MR even though everyone here knows i love Sir Roger.

I still have no problem with the Aston..it can be done...unlike Bond pissing around in a Bondola and and then flying in a space shuttle for a battle in space.

Getting rid of Pierce was a mistake to me...he was compromised by having to make an anniversary film, and they tried too hard..he paid the price..so so wrong.

I'm glad we got CR as i dont think Pierce could have done that but i would have liked a couple more PierceBond films,it didnt need changing.

I don't like it. It's used too indiscriminately, too cartoony.

Bond in a space shuttle ,on a space station,Jaws in love etc, and saving the world in a shoot out with pods ? totally agree !

I think what you've got to remember about DAD as well is that at the time it was fairly modern. The techno beats on the soundtrack, the sped up camera work (actually that's something I still like, the whole film has a lot of energy to it), it might seem pretty naff now but at the time that's what was 'cool'. The Bourne identity was out by then but that sort of action film didn't really seem to take off until the second one. It was stuff like xXx and Fast and the Furious that was doing really well and DAD is pretty much a reflection of that imo. It's very early 00s but at the time, even with the mixed reviews, I remember people seeming to think it felt a lot more modern and relevant than the last two Brosnan movies. The North Korea stuff probably helped with that too, and Madonna doing the theme song (yeah she'd been around for ages before then I think it was around the time her and Guy Ritchie got together so she was in the public eye a lot at the time).

Bond ,if you think of the storyline and not the CGI windsurf,is no different ,in fact better than a British secret service agent gliding around Venice ,in public,in a gondola or flying to a bloody space station and then a shoot out in space.

Just look away from the screen as i do with MR's moments.

The lake fight between 2 British legends : Aston Martin v Jaguar....love this, and Arnold's soundtrack is one of the best.

Jinx's "dive" off of the cliff is truly one of the most horrible moments in the franchise's history.

Nice CGI arse though...are you only at that point in the film ?

I just finished the excellent sword fight. I'm completely no back to thinking that Pierce is at his best in his one.

I agree and I think it's genuinely one of the best Bond actor performances in general. I think DAD would feel a lot more disjointed with the wrong actor because it's almost like a different film from scene to scene. But he plays it all just right and it ends up feeling like a natural progression with the same character instead of a collection of random scenes from different styles of Bond films.

I don't think any of the other actors could do that. Moore Dalton and Craig play to their strengths and Connery probably would have phoned it in once he read the script. Brosnan really carries DAD for me and I can't imagine anyone else doing it so well. Definitely deserved one more film.

Watching TSWLM...love the opening stunt off the cliff. Didn't need the close-up of Roger there. Doesn't do anything to convince us that it's him going over the cliff.

Love the piano in Nobody Does It Better. "Haaaalf as good as you!"

How do you guys rank these Binder openings? They all look the same to me. Except the one with Sheena Easton.

Barbara Bach is a smokeshow. Unreasonably attractive.

Going back...like how the movie doesn't tell the audience what took the submarine yet. Puts us in the same position as Bond.

My next Bond film is between: FRWL, FYEO, and SF. Sometime soon I’ll watch at least one of these.

Rog looks good. Probably the last Bond where he's a believable action star.

Jaws! For the first time. But he's smiling. For those old enough to see this in the theatres...was this scary? Helicopter blows up. Obligatory ruthless kill by the villain. Stromberg off to a good start. Not much of a physical threat though. Pretty much confined to that chair.

Bond kisses on the receptionist for one minute and she gives her life for him. Guess it isn't all about realism. Fantasy is an important part of this whole 007 deal.

Time for my 2nd favorite kill in all Bond-dom (Can you guess the favorite?). Hold on to that tie, Sandor.

Fekkesh had protection, sitting between 007 and XXX, but chose to rollout and got himself killed. In American football, we call this staying in the pocket.

Jaws ability to disappear and reappears at random times is well...amazing. Nice action sequence for Uncle Rog. Definitely chopped a dude in the stomach who then acted like he got hit in the chest. Nice body slam and kick though.

Quick cut back to the hotel. XXX looking hot as hell again. She starts reciting Bond's credentials and past and he cuts her off at "Married Once"...I always mute this part. It's the kind of tone-deaf offensive banter that I'm personally capable of. Cringing for XXX. Good scene though.

Kalba...dude...scream! Kick! Something. Just let another man bite him to death.

Rog dropping the out of order sign on his dead body is great. Dang XXX is hot, got some fight in her. Let see how long that holds up.

Jaws just disappeared again. How does he do it? To the top at that. Dang, Rog and XXX look good together. Great scene again. Top notch Bond stuff here. Jaws hits the scaffolding, which collapses on him. Not a menace anymore. He's a moron. Morons can't kill Bond. Only 1.5 movies to go with him now.

XXX driving away. Nice quip "Shaken but not stirred". Locations for this movie really set it apart so far. The two in ballrooms outfits walking across the desert does it for me. Nice use of the Lawrence of Arabia music there.

Bach's stiffness, intentional or not, plays well with the whole Russian spy speaking English. I mean, we expect spies to be cold. Dang, hit Bond with the gas. Embarrassing.

Bond meets Gogol face-to-face for the first time. Neither seems to be too impressed with seeing the other. Figured it would be a bigger deal though. XXX waits with the grin on her face. I really like her character (obviously). Here comes the pissing match between her and Bond over interpreting the microfilm. Gogol proposes an alliance. She smiles. This is the exact moment where she gives way. Right before the train fight. R.I.P. Useful-XXX.

Train fight No. 3 (FRWL, LALD). Jaws isn't Red Grant though. He's a buffoon. A nuisance. There's no doubt he'll lose this fight and kill no one in the process. There he goes. Off the train. Unhurt. Just kill him off already.
