    I remember the forum back in 2005 with the who will replace Pierce discussions. Many feeling positive Clive Owen would be cast. Others rooting for Goran Višnjić or the guy from Nip/Tuck.
    Ioan Gruffudd was another name tossed around.

    I think we dodged the bullet with some of these choices.

    Watching this now, it's kind of funny to picture what these scene might have looked like with Craig's press conference look.

    Him coming out of the water with the longer hair might be akin to Pierce's sauna scene in GOLDENEYE.

    Bond playing cards with Demetruis. I can remember some of the forums in an uproar that Bond wasn't wearing a dinner suit for this scene. Started a very brief forum rumor that Bond would be all casual in this film. I think it was on one of the other Bond forums.

    I saw CR several times with a buddy who really liked Solange. Easily his favorite Bond girl.

    I wa just saying that to @Some_Kind_Of_Hero while we were watching it together; she is on my favorites list. Several Craig Girls make the cut and are in my upper echelon; Solange, Vesper, Strawberry Fields and Severine.

    The Craig films have had great Bond girls, IMO. I was really glad this era steered away from the more A-lister period of the Brosnan films. I'll take Solange, Severine, Camille and Vesper over Jinx or Christmas Jones any day.

    I'm on the Miami sequence. To be honest, this action bit is my least favorite in the film. It's well done and certainly exciting, but I'm looking forward to the Vesper scenes now.
    The point in the film that begins to follow the book.

    I love the Miami sequence. For me personally at least, one of the best action sequences in the franchise. The soundtrack is incredible, and coupled with the action it makes for an epic, intense few minutes.

    This takes place in July in Miami. I imagine it's reasonably warm down there that time of year. Bond wears a leather jacket.

    I probably would too, regardless. I'm in the middle of a heat wave of 100 degrees or so. I still prefer to wear a blazer and Bondian attire to work, whereas everyone else wears shorts and flip flops like Vincent and Jules at the end of PULP FICTION.

    It's the Bond fan in me.

    That is great. I love the music swell when Bond has to sharply turn the truck right before it crashes. No series does close calls better than Bond films - particularly CR.

    I went for a light trim today at a place I just discovered. Basically a little evening up and blending. I think it came out looking like Daniel's in this film.
    The irony was back in 2006, I'd take photos of Daniel to my local barber shop, and they never quite got it accurate. Now all these years later it's easier to get the Craig in CR style.

    Although the concept is supposedly Bond becoming Bond, to me he's Bond from the start.

    Well said. There are some great moments of Bond in pure danger in this one.

    @FoxRox , I must say I have a newfound appreciation for the Miami airport sequence on this viewing. Great stuff here. The Skyfleet jet is enormous. Kind of reminds me of DIE HARD 2 a bit.

    Giancarlo Giannini did a comedy back in the '70's where Claudine Auger played his wife.

    I had that film in a box set of comedies.

    He was also in BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA with Claudine.
