.Haiti. Not a country I'd like to visit.

.The Slate fight is probably my favorite of Craig's fights. Fast and brutal.

.If a girl I'd never met looked like Camille and told me to get it her car, I'd do it.

    .Well I missed. Love it.

.Enter Greene and Elvis. Elvis is pretty lame but that's the point. Greene is a slimy bastard. I like it.

    .Olga looks a little orange.

.I think slimy is a good term to describe every villain in this movie. Greene, Medrano, Beam, Carlos, etc.

.I love the color palette that they used. Natural but vibrant.

.Greene could use some tips from me on choosing sunglasses. I'm a Ray Ban man.

.On with the boat chase. The boat flip is a little confusing and I DO NOT hear Bond mutter "anchor". Badass scene.

    .I love the music here.

    .Use your head, Tanner!

.So according to the computer screen, Bond became a Double-O in January 2008.

.Felix! I think Jeffrey Wright has been criminally underused. He needs to be in B25.

.Lol gotta love Elvis's belt buckle.

.Tosca. Probably the most popular scene of the film and for good reason. It's absolutely flawless. The music, the editing, the cinematography. Just wow.

.It's scenes like this that make me wish EON didn't get the rights to SPECTRE back and stuck with Quantum.

.At this point in SF, we'd just be getting to the Shanghai section. This movie really moves.

    .I like the TSWLM nod.

.Nice bathroom. M has good taste.

.I think if they just fleshed out the Guy Haines plot, as they sort of imply in this scene, then I think QOS would feel much more complete.

    .Talamone. Beautiful shots here.

.Always nice to have Mathis back. I could definitely get used to his villa. Not like he'll be using it.

.Gemma has always reminded me of Gemma, played by Katey Sagal aka Peg Bundy, from Sons of Anarchy. Similar features.

.Dialogue from the CR novel. Good stuff.

    .I love the view.

.The first time that we see Bond drunk. Subtle acting by Craig.

.And we're halfway through the film. Damn.

.La Paz. Lmao I always think of my grandmother when I see that woman in the wild shirt walking to the airport.

.Strawberry Fields. Gemma Arterton doesn't get to do much but she's good. She taste like strawberries I hear.

.Craig reminds me of Steve McQueen here. I love his snobbery when he sees the hotel that Fields has picked.

.Mathis snapping at the driver is hilarious.

.Andean Grand Hotel. Now this is more like it.

.I wonder. Did M send Fields to seduce Bond?

.They cut a scene of Mathis noticing Fields in Bond's bed. Wish they kept it.

.Party time. Lol there's Obama in ten years at the bar.

.I don't like Fields' dress. Especially after Vesper's dress in the previous film. Little nitpick.

.I see a Quantum pins on the guy who hugs Greene.

    .Camille lookin good.

.This would have been a good spot to have an extra scene between Bond and Felix.

    .There goes Elvis's hair.

.The demise of Mathis. Really sad scene but well done. Lot of different explanations for Bond putting Mathis in a dumpster. Mine is that he simply didn't wanna leave him on the ground with the cops. Also, taking his money might make it look like he was mugged.

.Nice quiet scene between Bond and Camille.

.The dog fight is my least favorite setpiece of the film but it's still great. I would have used a longer version of the Bond Theme from the end credits here though. Just to make it more memorable and Bondian. At least until the helicopter basically cripples the DC3. Then have the music change to this track.

.The free fall sequence. Yeah this could have been better. Oh well, it's over quick.

.M has her meeting with the foreign secretary. Another solid scene. If I was in charge, I'd have Guy Haines show up here. He would say that he's issued a capture or kill order on Bond. This would make M going to La Paz make more sense.

.A lot of people find this movie to be poorly written. I just don't get it. I think the writing is above average throughout.

.Another TSWLM nod. I heard somewhere that Foster was mostly influenced by GF, TSWLM, and CR. I can believe it.

.M confronts Bond in the hotel. This scene and Bond's escape is my favorite part of the movie. So cool.

.Are you gonna try and shoot me?

.Bond and Felix out on the town. Something we haven't seen since LALD. LOL and under very different circumstances.

    .Brief but great shootout.

    .The lizard. Very Fleming.

.Not sure why they went with a yellow font.

.I love this location. Pure Bond.

.Bond has a little stubble. Foreshadowing SF?

.Wtf is up with Greene's shirt?

    .Really cool interior.

."We deal with the left or the right. Dictators or liberators". Love that line.

.You can tell Medrano wants to beat the shit out of Greene.

.Gunshot. Cue climax. God this is intense.

    .Lol Elvis.

.The slow-mo shot of Greene running from the explosion is epic.

.Compare this to the SP finale. No contest. This is amazing stuff.

    .Looks warm in there.

.Greene getting the axe between his toes makes me cringe.

.This scene of Bond holding Camille reminds me of the shower scene in CR.

.Bond leaving Greene in the desert is one of my favorite scenes of the series. Payback is a bitch.

."I don't think the dead care about vengeance". Apparently, Paul Haggis's original title for this film was Sleep of the Dead. I don't care for it. Sounds a little generic.

    .Come back, Camille! Come back!

.And the film ends similarly to how CR began. Might have been cool if this scene was in black and white.

.Wouldn't have minded seeing more of Stana Katic. Phrasing.

    ."I never left". Damn right.

.Cue gunbarrel. A little rushed but I dig this. Love that Craig walks away after firing.

.Great new rendition of the Bond Theme. You would think Newman could do that much for SF and SP.

.Crawl, End Crawl. God I love this track.

Another viewing of QOS done. This movie ages like wine. Probably won't watch it again until hype for B25 ramps up.

'tis the season.................so here it is....................

    ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE

My annual Christmas time airing..........in November,

It's going to snow tonight where I live so this will hit the spot. Afterwards I'll drive to work in the snow like Tracy in this film..............perhaps I'll hide out in a barn later?

    PTS-

One of the series' best, IMO. Great intro for Laze.

Excellent delivery of the famous line as well.

    Get in.....lie down!!!!

    Great Barry music.

I love this fight sequence. Lazenby is the man.

One of the best films. I’ll probably have another watch of it next month.

One of my favorite title sequences and theme songs. This instrumental is one of the greatest pieces of music in the history of sound, IMO.

I love the clips from the earlier films.

Bond drives to the hotel and enters the lobby looking the business.
The legendary Lazenby swagger. The very walk I attempt to emulate whenever I go anywhere.

Especially here as he's descending the stairs entering the casino.

    I love Diana Rigg.

Tracy is my fave Bond girl..........alongside Domino, Solitaire, Anya, Camille, Tatiana, Kara and Pussy.

Bond wakes up and puts on Tract's robe looking just as stylish as she did.

Lazenby cracks jokes while being escorted to Draco. Roger would be proud.

I love this scene with Draco.
Contrary to popular opinion here, I do think Connery would have been excellent in his film, getting his 2nd wind after his experience on YOLT.

This scene is a great example of where Sean would have sparked his magic. I can picture him having great chemistry with Ferzetti.
Poor George's lack of acting experience shows here in these reactions shots. The score helps George's performance here, though. Especially as he says "I'm sorry Draco, but in my profession I can't....."

Still I'll defend George to my dying day. Now he's up against the great Bernard Lee.
Here George passes the dialogue scene test with flying colors. He seems genuinely angry with M.
This really is an amazing Bond film. Pity it wasn't as appreciated back in the day.

Bond escorted to Piz Gloria. I love this scene. Beautifully shot and scored.
    The Lois Lane style helicopter.

Telly Savalas is my favorite Blofeld. The most imposing.

Bond is hanging out with all the lovely ladies. Jenny Hanley and Anouska Hempel both appeared in SCARS OF DRACULA the following year.

I imagine the late '60's to be a fun time to live in.

Joanna Lumley is another favorite Hammer horror beauty.

Damn I love this track as Bond is escorted to meet up with Blofeld. This is an amazing score. We really need more Bond music like this. Completely provides the right suspenseful atmosphere.
Blofeld and Bond both have huge moles on the side of their faces.

Blofeld fixes the trim on the tree while confronting Bond.

I dig that brown plaid jacket Bond steals. I should find one like that.
Tracy is great here rescuing Bond. As they pull out I picture Roger doing the Roger nod here. That would have been classic!

As this viewing winds down I must say this one never fails. I get the same thrill watching it now as I did when I was 10. Great Bond film.

DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. That first scene with Wint and Kidd in the desert by itself is worth far more than the totality of SPECTRE.

Lol I wouldn't go QUITE that far but almost.

Not for me anyway. Wint and Kidd are great, but for me, DAF handled Blofeld/SPECTRE just as badly as SP. I like SP’s PTS more, the action scenes a little bit more, and settings a lot more. The overkill of silliness really brings down DAF. Both are very flawed Bond films though IMO.

I actually like Blofeld in DAF. He suited the camp tone of the film. I do agree that SP does the things you listed better, but DAF has a far superior score, script, and characters. But that's just me.

Score, script, and characters are all average or weaker in both films for me. I prefer the Bond girls in SP. Wint and Kidd probably give DAF the edge for villains. Barry’s score for DAF is probably his least good Bond soundtrack I think, but SP’s is not impressive either. The camp tone of DAF is one of my big problems with the movie. It never meshes well with Connery’s Bond IMO, and feels far better-suited for Roger Moore. The few bits of camp in SP don’t work well for Craig either.

I don’t think SP is a very good Bond film, but for me personally it has a little more that I enjoy about it than DAF. Both films also have really weak third acts. I love Guy Hamilton’s work on GF and LALD, but then DAF and TMWTGG are two of my least favorites in the series and have lots of dull sections. Both of them used to be much more highly ranked on my list, but have not been clicking well for me at all lately. SP may drop below one or both of them someday, but for now it’s just a bit above.

I'm watching DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER now after reading these posts here.

I'm at the moon buggy section as he's hiding in the back of the van.

I do love Guy Hamilton's style. Him along with Young and Hunt are my favorite director. Throw Glen in there as well.

My very first time seeing Connery as Bond was an ABC Sunday Night airing of this one around 1980 or 82. Before I really became a Bond fan I liked TSWLM and MR mostly because of Jaws.

At a young age, however I had a fascination for seeing different actors play the same role. I was really into the Christopher Reeve SUPERMAN films then, and would watch the George Reeves SUPERMAN TV series from the '50's on the weekends. That's what got me into comparing different actor interpretations.

My first glimpse of Connery was the bikini strangling bit. Maybe it's Connery's shirt, age or build, but I actually thought Connery in that scene reminded me a bit of Gene Hackman in SUPERMAN THE MOVIE. The section when he, Otis and Valerie Perrine are in California to reprogram the missiles.

By the time NSNA was out I was hooked on 007 and wanted to see all the films. DIAMONDS I remember airing again in January of '84. I watched it and compared Connery's look to his NSNA appearance.

For a young Bond fan it really felt like a huge event every month or two when ABC who show a Bond.

It was huge. For me the ABC years were in the ‘70s. In 1980 I went off to college and pretty much lost touch with television for a good six years (except for Letterman).

I pretty much stopped watching television in the early '90's. By 2000 with reality TV taking over I felt the medium was dead. I still do for the most part.

Bond's dinner suit seems to have burgundy lapels and a very pronounced bow tie. I prefer the slimmer tie on Connery actually.
I wonder why Bond doesn't awaken with all the noise of construction work around him as he's buried?

Must have been powerful knock out gas.

Bond smells so bad he scares of his little buddy. Today the rat would be CGI....................maybe I'll watch SP again soon?
I like Bond's beige suit. The pink tie does look a bit odd, though. Maybe a dark brown tie instead?

Thumper and Bambi..............my favorite scene in the film.

    oh Willie?

This scene is classic. Butchered on ABC.

Bond is getting thrashed. Into the pool.

    Felix shows up fashionably late.
I really have grown to like Norman Burton's Felix. He's pretty funny.

I like all the Leiters . Including Michael Pate.

Blofeld in drag. I suppose he had t leave the Whyte House incognito somehow.
Shane Rimmer is getting reamed out by Whyte.

I wonder if Bond fans back in '71 complained that the films now took 2 whole years to come the way we gripe about 4 year gaps today?

I love Connery's tweed jacket, turtle neck and dress boots in this scene. I remember as a 5th grader noting Bond rarely wore tennis shoes or sneakers.

I remember getting a pair of brown cowboy boots that I thought kind of looked like Bond's boots here. I figured if a slick, slippery sole was good enough for Bond it was good enough for me. I also had a pair of black slip on dress shoes like Roger. That was fun until I slipped and fell on my a$$.

Then I got a pair of brown work boots that had more traction.
From then on while the other 5th graders wore NIKE, Adidas, etc I'd be trying to dress more like Bond. Turtlenecks, polo shirts, etc.

I love the oil rig climax. I think it's a great Bond location.
I've always had fun with this one.
Bond climbs around a lot in this one- down the hatch onto the cables. This reminds me of Bond's escape from Piz Gloria.

    WOOOOOOOOOO!

I love this style Bond ending.

So ends the great DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.

    This was quite fun tonight.
