Gunbarrel- the Barry/Moore era sound perfected. Always liked those opening chords.
Kim Fortune is my favorite actor who always gets killed.
I could see him playing Simon Templar, actually.
The guys stealing the Moonraker look like they belong on STARSKY AND HUTCH.
The Roger punch. He holds his opponent by the side or back of the head with his left hand while he swings with his right. He did that on THE SAINT a lot.
There's Jaws. Jake Lombard is my favorite Roger aerial double. Martin Grace is my favorite Roger double otherwise.
The same scream Necros makes.
Pretty funny.
Great title sequence. Underrated song, IMO. I love Shirley Bassey, but I can picture Johnny Mathis or Frank Sinatra crooning this one.
I do think M's brown leather doored office looked it's best in OP.
It looks good here, but almost too many books. Resembles a library.
When I was a kid I'd compare similarities between Bond films. Wait! I still do that. Never mind.
May I press you to a cucumber sandwich?
Love that line.
Everyone treats Bond like he personally lost the shuttle. LOL.
Holly Goodhead is one of my favorite Moore era leading Bond girls.
The centrifuge bit. Great stuff here. Bond in peril. If this were a serial, the chapter would end as Chang raises the level to 13.
Roger looks pretty out of it. Bond got thrashed.
Roger never got enough credit, IMO for his more dramatic scenes. He really sells that moment.
Great so far. At the ambulance bit.
MR and LALD I find the humor genuinely funny. The fight with Chang is hilarious. The little fight in the ambulance is funny as well.
Here we go...........THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN theme. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really need a copy of that film for my collection. Epic western.
The Ken Adam sets are superb.
The bang on time bit. I love Roger's Seiko, though pulling off the back to get to that little wire seems like a pain in the as$.
Love the Seiko's during Roger's era. I'm kind of sick of Omega at this point (and Aston Martin). MR got by without both.
The lighting, miniatures give the spaces scenes depth.
Kind of makes me want to revisit some other space themed films of the era (not STARS WARS, though). I wouldn't mind tracking down STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, or some BUCK ROGERS or BATTLESTAR GALACTICA episodes.
I should find THE BLACK HOLE. I remember seeing that in the cinema with my folks as well as a little kid.
Glad you had fun! I might give it a spin tomorrow.
Really should go up in my rankings just for the entertainment value alone. Certainly the slapstick bits are a bit over the top, but somehow don't bother me. MR
un-apologetically goes for it. It's not a Bond I'd say is uneven in tone. Great Barry score, too.
DR NO
The M scene here is my favorite in the series.
As a young movie buff, this scene helped hook me on Bond. I recall an ABC airing one summer evening in when I was a kid. Up until this airing I was a very casual young fan, mostly for the Jaws character. Whenever a Connery Bond aired I'd watch it with my Dad, but not really pay attention. This time I took notice. The gunbarrel, casino introduction, Bond's shoulder holster, being issued the PPK and his thrashing of Mr Jones did the trick for me.
Bond immediatley gets to work once arriving in Jamaica. No down time for him. I love the little scene as he check's Strangway's office.
Bond takes a bath in the middle of the afternoon.
I wonder if Bond's attache case here is the same prop used later for FRWL?
I like people who's friends of people.
Bond smiles
Always loved that bit.
