'I expect they are trying to kill me

I thought he said : "It's Spectre, they're trying to kill me" ,as he is totally scared.

I fear Bond 25 is trying to make the Tracy arc with Madeline, for me Madeline is one of the dullest characters I have seen, Madeline is a walking coma. Please kill her off quick

I find it completely foolish to try and turn Madeleine into the new Tracy. There's no comparison to the great Diana Rigg, IMO.

The first half of SP really is decent for the most part. I’ve seen the film described as “Craig’s TB,” but to me it’s like Craig’s DAD if anything. A mostly good first half, but goes off the rails in the second half.

The scene with Mr. White is so good. Still satisfying to me.

Train fight is always a big highlight. It’d be nice to get another big hand-to-hand fight like this in B25.

Now we’re in the tough stretch - Blofeld’s base through the end. I remember reading way back before the movie came out that they were having issues getting the third act prepared for SP. They were never able to get it together :(

The Hildebrand Rarity reference gains extra appreciation from me having read the novels. Also Oberhauser from the OP story is a neat name inclusion.

I really like Ralph Fiennes as M. Not quite on the level of Lee or Dench, but still an inspired choice. Glad he’ll get at least one more.

SP’s execution feels so flat too often, and that’s ultimately my biggest problem. Besides the PTS and train fight, the action mostly feels very dull. And the story is meh. The surveillance angle is fine, but Blofeld’s usage is questionable.

Though I’m not crazy about Blofeld in SP, I think it’s not Waltz’s fault how it ended up, and I’m actually kind of glad he’ll have one more chance with the next movie. I think they can get this right with new direction and scripting.

The ending of SP did kind of feel like a farewell to Craig’s Bond. I’m glad he’ll be back soon though!

I have that issue with both Mendes films they start off reasonably well then the both lose me by the midway point

Agree they really could have ended Craigs tenure there

I think Christmas Jones has to be my least favorite Bond girl after rewatching the series again. TWINE has long been one of the most frustrating Bond films for me, because it has some great moments and loads of potential, but has questionable execution throughout. Some of the action feels dull, and there are some pretty shaky acting moments (mainly from Richards). It’s the only third entry from a Bond actor I don’t love.

Elektra is great. We need a new major female villain in the series.

TWINE was my favorite Brosnan film when it opened. I thought it was far superior to TND, and it attempted some character work. I also loved that the title was Fleming related.
The last few times I watched it, was difficult to get through. I'll give it another go in the near future.

I used to like it a lot more as well. I think it was as high as 12 or 13 on my list at one point years back. I still find some enjoyment in it, but the flaws stick out more than they used to. Has one of my favorite lines:

“The insurance company is never going to believe this!”

I love the last couple scenes with Bond and Elektra, especially when Valentin saves Bond and Bond kills Elektra. This film can shine at times.

Time to finish off the Bondathon with SF, one of my favorites.
I feel like SF is the closest we ever get to Bond’s heart - the essence of who he is and what he stands for - and I love it for that.

I love the finale in Scotland. Don’t understand the hate at all.

NO hate from this corner re SF,and I love the caviar factory shootout in TWINE...underrated imo.

I love the caviar factory scene too! For me a highlight in TWINE. I considered ranking TWINE ahead of MR in my newest ranking. It’s pretty neck-and-neck. Both flawed and near the bottom of my list but still with a fair amount of stuff to enjoy.

No contest for me - I have MR at #21 and TWINE at #13.

TWINE has sunk to the very bottom for me.

TWINE is not great though I do love the Thames chase, in no way do I blame Brosnan for the film overall. (TWINE is in my bottom 4 with DAD, SF and SP)

    I'm watching THUNDERBALL again.

Bond just mopped the floor with Largo at the Chemin de Fer table. He then finagled a dance with Domino from Largo. All in from of everyone as well.
Largo keeps his cool and invites Bond for lunch. One of the reasons he's a great villain, IMO. I'd say that applies to Brandauer's Largo as well. Good loser.

    Nostalgia time.

I'm actually watching my vintage CBS/Fox Home video VHS copy. Pan and scan, and missing "the mink it reduces the tensions" scene.

I do feel that when the Bond catalog expired with CBS/Fox Home video and MGM/UA Home video re-released these films "at an affordable price", THUNDERBALL was one that resulted in a superior transfer. The image on the Connery Classics edition was far crisper and brighter. The colors popped more. In addition that version had the titles in scope. The previous three films didn't have as noticeable a difference in transfer from the CBS/Fox version. GF played half a step fast. Meaning if you're playing a guitar and jamming to the gunbarrel, you had to tune your stings up half a step.

The Connery Classics edition had a brighter DAF as well. I remember the mud being green in the PTS for some odd reason.

I don't have too many Bond films on VHS in my collection anymore. Sometimes however, I like to watch the films that way out of nostalgia for when I was a kid. Good reminder how spoiled one gets with advancing technology.

Pinder is such a great minor character. Wonderful voice.

I love Rik Van Nutter as Felix:

    YOU'RE RIGHT JAMES! WE HAVEN'T!

    I love the Palmyra bit.

I went to a local community Bluegrass concert last night. Most of the audience members were probably in their seventies or eighties.
I'd say 90% of the men in the audience had Largo's exact hairstyle and cut. Same color as well. Adolfo Celi was ahead of his time.

This version has the "Now you can tell about the one that got away line".
Domino's torture is different later as well.

Rik Van Nutter is the best Felix and the closest to how Fleming wanted him.

I truly love THUNDERBALL. It rotates with GOLDFINGER as my #1.
Although any of the first four can have that spot, really.

Bond escapes Fiona and is shot in the process. I love the Junkanoo bit. Reminds me of the scene in MR. Now if DAD and SP incorporated similar scenes, I'd appreciate those movies more. Should have been a 4th outing tradition, IMO.

I love bit where Bond just grabs Diane Hartford: "Thank you I'd love to."

Felix and Bond hanging out again in the copter. Felix 's clothes morph into a different outfit before our very eyes. If I had to pick one favorite continuity error in ANY movie. That was it. That was great.

    Shorts.....pants.......shorts.........pants again. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paul Stassino is my favorite actor.

I should find a watch like Derval's. Pretty damn cool watch if you ask me.
