Good intro on the Bluray menu with the track Submarine playing, the score has grown on me over the years.
Bond visiting Tracy's grave good moment on several levels.
The helicopter scene is decent though the none Blofeld dialogue is daft though throwing none Blofeld down a chimney is perhaps symbolic of moving away from daftness, of course we know how that played out.
Excellent title track and sequence, I remember when Sheena Easton released this song in the charts. Sheena was stunning.
The scene on the St. George's of course gives us valuable information though it has always been a bit flat for me, TND falls into a similar mundane trap post title sequence.
The cinematography when Melina meets her parents is stunning, Melina really does have a beautiful smile.
When Melina's parents are gunned down it effectively for me echoes Bunt gunning down Tracy which makes the death more potent and Bond visiting Tracy's grave early on creates an effective narrative link.
Same here. Bernard is most certainly the M pictured when reading the Fleming novels.
Same here and I think of Sean as Bond though I always did when I first read the novels.
Excellent point about the chemistry between Moore and Carole Bouquet. Even though Ms. Bouquet was the youngest of Roger’s “Bond Girls” at the time of filming, IMO she plays it “older.” As a result, their relationship seems more realist than that of Roger and Tanya Roberts in AVTAK, even though Ms. Roberts and Carole Bouquet are only separated by two years in age.
Carole does give a mature performance, I do like Tanya though her character just ends up being a damsel in distress
Question: If Tim had taken over for AVTAK would Penelope Small one stayed as M's secretary. Her one off appearance in the context of the series seems odd and makes me think she was planned for more.
I believe the initial intention was for Miss Smallbone to become a reoccurring character.
Oh well. So much for that.
The Moneypenny scene in that film is one of my favorites.
I'm in a Barbara/Michael mood today.
CASINO ROYALE
I'm on the crane bit. Very much getting excited for the new film, so time to revisit some Craig outings.
This action sequence could have been the PTS, IMO had Eon forgone the idea of Bond earning his licence.

Le Chiffre is a great villain, IMO.
First afternoon showing of the day and then an evening screening.
My best friend and I normally would try to get a group together for the 7pm show opening day for a new Bond epic. It was a tradition that seemed to backfire every other film.
This was one of the backfires. Our circle of friends were gradually flaking out. So we opted to catch the 1pm showing together. Eff them.
We both loved it, and thought the film rejuvenated the series.
I did actually see the 7pm showing with another friend. He also loved it, and we'd end up catching CR four or five more times together during it's theatrical run.
One of my favorite elements of the early Craig era was the ambition.
We already had a release date set for B22 by the time this one was in cinemas.
Originally set for May '08 while productions was still going on CASINO. As CR was released that date had been adjusted to November.
We also knew right away that the follow up would be a direct sequel. I miss the early Craig era, I must say.
My favorite character: Mr Mendel. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love his line delivery there.
Wright as Leiter has a coolness missing from Felix since Jack Lord.
This is right up there with Red Grant.
Bond consoles Vesper in the shower and thus begins the moment where he starts to fall for her.........................
and for the next 14 years all we'll hear about is Vesper.
I love how gutted and devastated 007 looks after everyone else has left the table.
I would have given anything had Wright's Leiter just given Bond a little push in this scene. That would have been GREAT!
In honor of the scene in DR NO we get to see Bond puke again.
The poison scene is wonderful, IMO. A classic, classic scenario for the hero to be put in peril. Very simple as well, yet the audience was on the edge of their seats.
No CGI effects B.S.
Just old school suspense.
Vesper saves his arse.
I wouldn't dream of it. Very Pierce style line.
This is one Bond film in which I do prefer the 2nd half.
I don't think Roger got enough praise for his performance in that particular film. He's definitely on edge and short tempered with just about everyone. Perfectly acceptable behavior for someone being targeted by the world's greatest assassin.
Second greatest.
He then concentrates on the solex until Scaramanga makes it personal.
Indeed old pal,it was MR that was his ‘nadir’ if you like.
In fact his performance in AVTAK is seriously underrated imo as well.
I liked this version of Moore's Bond better.
