    Exactly,great isnt it ?

Right,i fancy a fun romp,so,its my #22 film DAF....will it be able to knock #21 TMWTGG from its perch or even #20 DAD ?...doubt it but lets see...DVD going in...

I watched LALD last night as part of a facebook group "online fan screening". While posting comments I ended up quoting a lot of lines from the film. Although I still think LALD is somewhat average overall (its quite thinly plotted, cheap looking and poorly paced at times), it does have some great lines of dialogue throughout.

Just a query from @Creasy47 about a part of AVTAK ,now solved...and me trying to see if DAF can rise above TMWTGG and DAD ,but i dont think so,just started it

Including my favourite Bond quote from all time.....

@barryt007, which quote might that be?

Time to fire up OHMSS! In the mood for more Bond today, and I've yet to watch this classic this year.

'Its just a hat darling, belonging to a small headed man of limited means, who lost a fight with a chicken'......i just love that quote and the way Sir Roger delivers it...

I must say,DAF starts off really well,i love the PTS (not many do ,but i do) and the soundtrack and score is excellent,as is the banter between Bond and M with Sir Malcolm and of course Wint and Kidd....

Although that 'diamond in a ring' comment from Moneypenny wasnt needed,it just takes the piss out of OHMSS....

I do like the scene with Bond and Tiffany in her flat...

Moore gets some really great dialogue to work with in LALD, that's for sure. Ironically enough, some of my favorite lines of his come from one scene out of one of my least favorite entries of his, TMWTGG:

    Anders: "Tall, slim, and dark."
Bond: "So is my aunt. Anything distinctive about him?"
Anders: "Yes, but how can I...he is not like other people. He has three..."
Bond: "Oh. Fascinating anatomical tidbit, but the most useless piece of information I ever heard. Unless the Bottoms Up is a strip club and Scaramanga is performing there."

    hahaha so true @Creasy47 !!

Thats why sometimes i wonder why i have DAF and TMWTGG so low on my list compared to the dull FYEO for example.

Bloodu hell,i actually think that the Franks/Bond fight is better than the Bond/Hinx fight ...its seriously intense.....a real fight to the death in an enclosed space.

Personally, I've always been a lover of FYEO. It suffers from a lack of Barry's music, a few bad scenes here and there, and I've always felt Bibi was rather annoying, but other than that, it's one of the most consistently fun installments (in terms of the action/stunts) for me, and I never fail to enjoy it when I fire it up. Still, the lack of Barry (and not so much that as it is the inclusion of a poor score instead, as I surely wouldn't have minded the omission if it had been, say, David Arnold taking over) is missed.

The Franks/Bond fight in DAF is probably Top 5 in the series for me, a definite highlight of DAF, regardless of how the rest of the film holds up for the viewer. After the new factor wore off for the Bond/Hinx fight, I started to realize that it's pretty much the exact same as every other train fight in the series, offering nothing new. However, after four films, I was happy to see Craig finally going up against someone who was superior in the muscle/physicality department, having his ass handed to him accordingly.

Thats why the fight surprised me between Bond/Hinx ,the fact that DC's Bond was getting bitch-slapped all over the place...brilliant.....

Re FYEO,i just found the score quite depressing....and the title song as well....

Here you go, though it should be included on the blu-ray as a deleted scene:

I actually wish they had kept this, cutting after the exchange of puns between Wint and Kidd after Tree has been executed.

I remember one time when my mum walked in and watched the scene with Moore and Countess Lisl by the fire.

Her reaction: "I know the poor woman has passed away but she is awful" haha.

@BAIN123, that's rich. I've actually come to appreciate the poor Countess Lisl more and more over the past year or so. She's also one of the few Bond girls to unwittingly flash some breast at the camera and have it go unnoticed.

    Thanks Matey !!!!!

I love it ,it adds a lot to Wint and Kidd, and should have been left in the actual film !!

    (I dont have blue-ray alas...is it really all that good @Creasy47 ?)

If you came from Britain you'd know that she does not sound remotely Liverpudlian.

Agreed,i actually thought Cassandra gave a natural performance in that and it annoyed me that she got bumped off so quickly !

I do and just because she came from there doesnt me she still has to have a 'strong' accent..

@barryt007, agreed. If they touched up the sound effects on that gunshot (which they inevitably would've, the audio is only poor/choppy because it's a deleted scene) and cut before Wint/Kidd pack up their things to leave, it would've been great. As for Lisl, it is tragic that she passes so soon, but it offers a good segue for Bond and Columbo to finally meet.

@BAIN123, it would all sound the same to me; I'm an American unable to easily relate which accent is from which region like that.

I don't think she's great in the film but I think she's likeable enough.

I think it was the "me nighty's slipping" line that made my mother cringe.

I must admit i am enjoying DAF,but enough to overtake TMWTGG and DAD ,not so far....FYEO is looking in trouble for me ,but i will watch it again before i move DAF and FYEO.....if i even do.

@barryt007, something else that has assisted in my bigger appreciation of DAF over the years is how cool Connery is in it. There's this sense of cold, short sarcasm about him (attributed to him being older and a bit burnt-out, no doubt) while having a hurried sense of urgency about him at the same time, I love it. It's the same reason why I've had a lot of fun with NSNA lately: Connery is simply too cool in it.

Thats true...he has a confident persona in this ,but world weary as you say..he has just slapped Tiffany across the face with the glove, : so so ConneryBond....im one of the few that DONT think he phoned in his performance here..

All those lovely casinos now gone in Vegas but beautifully preserved in DAF..

I used to love getting the 'DAF Moonbuggy' in a certain pack of Top Trumps i used to have...Supercars maybe ?...but it only had 7/10 on most things and i always lost the card to another player...showed i loved Bond even then ,when i was a wee lad !

That cock up still perplexes me in the car on 2 wheels in the alleyway...they do show the Car changing from Tiffany lower down to Bond being lower down while they are on 2 wheels....but surely they must have known thats impossible...

That editing error is so obvious now, @barryt007, but it took an umpteenth viewing last year for me to finally notice it. It's definitely a shame they didn't correct that, but it doesn't take away too heavily from an otherwise impressive stunt.

Oh it is brilliant indeed...This film never gets to the silliness of MR ,which i rate below it at #23 out of 24...
