I've said it several times before, but the action in TND is really excellent. Definitely some of the series' strongest. Wai Lin is a really solid Bond girl. And I think it's Brosnan's best and most relaxed performance as 007.

I don't think the naval uniform suited Brosnan at all. Moore wore it best IMO. And Jack Wade is even more annoying in this than he was in GE...!

Aw. I love it on all of them, but I do agree Moore wore it the best. Haha, I have a soft spot for Wade.

The film's third act easily remains the weakest part for me, though even that has been a bit more enjoyable than usual for me this time around. The unnecessary slow-motion moments, which also bothers me in DAD, is a nitpick I have.

Overall, a really enjoyable watch! Felt the urge to watch a Bond film, and TND very much satisfied! It's one that has really shot up for me over time. Used to be a bottom 5, now it's comfortably more in the middle of the pack. My Brosnan preference was GE > TWINE > DAD > TND back in the day, but now it's definitely GE > TND > TWINE > DAD, and it's hard to see it changing anytime soon.

Have to say i find the action scenes very tedious!
Not a lot of excitement here.

I thought Connery looked the best in it, but agree that it looks awful on Brosnan.

    Some thoughts having watched TWINE:

-This was my best viewing in many a year. Being specifically in the mood definitely helps a lot with this one.
-Elektra is fantastic. I think she deserves tons of credit as a Bond girl + villain. She is just a joy to watch in every scene.
-Mr. Bullion is truly one of the most unlikable characters in this series.
-I really love Zukovsky. He was great in GE and at least as entertaining in TWINE IMO.
-The skiing sequence, though the weakest of the ones in the franchise, really reminds me of how much I miss them. Really hope to see one again sooner than later. My favorite two Bonds, Connery and Craig, never had any ski time, even though SP had a great opportunity for it (the “ski parkour” in an old script draft sounded so much better than what we ended up getting). But now I’m going on a tangent...
-I love Brosnan’s outfit in the climax of this one.
-Brosnan himself really is a fun, great James Bond. I’ve very much been in the mood for his version lately, and it’s been awesome to see with this and TND! I think I have to watch DAD and GE as well to finish satisfying the craving.
-Renard’s not too shabby - he’s grown on me a bit over the years, in fact - but he is still very much overshadowed by Elektra for me.
-The action has a couple weak spots, but also some moments I love a lot. For me personally, I love all the PTS and the caviar factory madness the most.
-Bond’s final moments with Elektra are terrific, but the movie becomes a big of a slog for the rest of the climax. GE was the only Brosnan film to have a thoroughly well done climax IMO, though I’d still probably give a distant second place to TWINE.
-I love the title song. Really, really good I think. Also, I paid more attention to Arnold’s score than usual, which is very well done and fun.
-Christmas Jones may just be the worst main Bond girl. I’m sorry, but she is just.... urgh. Not very good I’m afraid.
-Overall, I really enjoyed this film this go around. It does lose some steam in sections, plus Jones is big points off, but when I’m in the mood like today it’s still a lot more of a positive than negative experience. It’s no elite Bond film by any means, but I really like it still and found myself smiling when I reached the end: “JAMES BOND WILL RETURN”

    CASINO ROYALE 06

Been nearly a month since I've posted on this, my favorite thread.
So here we are at the poisoning sequence.
Great Craig performance. I've been enjoying this viewing the most I have in quite some time.
Vesper saves Bond's ass. Eva Green is now my favorite Craig era Bond girl. I'm really glad she was cast and not Angelina Jolie.
Felix is getting annoyed by his losses.
Jeffrey Wright is the reason I'm in the mood for this one. His look as Commissioner Gordon in THE BATMAN trailer reminds me of his look in this film. Cool as can be.
Bond decides to remove his jacket for the rest of the game.

I must say the colors on the Blu-ray are superb. This particular Bond film, IMO has beautiful cinematography and lighting. Very lavish and rich. The way it should be. At least for me.
Bond kicked LeChiffre's ass. Now it's time for some scrambled eggs and caviar.
The lighting in the restaurant is perfect as well.
This Bond film really oozes in atmosphere.
Sometimes re-watching the Bonds is like revisiting a time capsule. Memories of when that particular film came out and what one was doing that year and time come back.
I remember my anticipation for this film was at an all time high. My favorite Fleming novel finally made into a proper Bond film. A perfectly cast new 007, IMO. This was going to be amazing. It didn't let me down.
I had planned a group get together for the evening 7pm showing of this film. I had my ticket already. No one else had theirs and it was sold out. So my best friend and I decided to catch a matinee. I'd be seeing this one twice that day. Damn that was a great day.

    Vesper kidnapped!
Bond gets into his Aston Martin and ready for pursuit. Sheriff JW should have been sitting in the passenger's seat. That would have been great!!!

    Bond tortured. This is classic.

Damn this is back into my top 10.

Maybe I just haven't been in the mood for this one for some time?
Maybe I'm still disappointed in the way things are going for NTTD and it's many release dates? I do hope we get to see it this year.

I hope it lives up to this film. That's a tall order, though.

I love that Bond resigns WITHOUT giving a two weeks notice.

"I hereby tender my resignation with immediate effect."

I've actually used that in an email to resign from a job after seeing this film.
I'm of the firm opinion that some companies don't deserve the courtesy of a two week notice. I wouldn't do that to Judi Dench's M, though. She might get pissed.

    Vesper drowns horrifically.

Don't worry. She'll be back in photograph form in the next film and mentioned throughout the Craig era.

Bond attempts CRP and fails miserably.
The legendary Mr White! Of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is Bond playing with his bare feet while talking with M?
What the Hell is that about?
    Here go..............onto a classic scene.

Craig's reading of "Bond, James Bond" is superb here. One of the best in the entire series, IMO. Possibly arguably THE best.

It's alright in SF as well. I absolutely loathe his reading of the line in SP and the NTTD trailer.

Well, another astounding viewing of this, my new favorite Craig era Bond film.

Good reading again ToTheRight! QOS has really become a favourite of mine, but I still think CR shades it, so much to enjoy in it, great scenes and set pieces..and i adore Eva Green, wonderful performance and stunning looking lady. And that final delivery of the Bond line still gives me goosebumps!

Thanks, @Mathis1. I just may pop in again QoS soon. Sadly it's been sacrificed in my rankings recently, but I remember feeling like the only fan who loved it when it was released.

    Right now I'm watching.....................

    FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE

Tomorrow is the great man's milestone 90th birthday.
Bond and Kerim Bey are underground about to spy on Tania and Krilencu.
    Great sequence.

Here comes an entire section of the film that was removed from the ABC Sunday Night Movie airings back in the '80's. After this they went to commercial and cut to Bond returning to his hotel.

The gypsy camp sequence is amazing, IMO. Martine Beswick.
Bond learns to eat with his fingers.

Okay, just switched back to the original mono audio track, and it sounds much more crisp.
Although it can be a habit to simply start the Blu-ray with the newer DTS audio tracks or whatever as the default, I prefer to go back t it's original sound. Often the levels are completely changed and certain sound effects altered. The cat's meow in the DIAMONDS PTS for instance annoys me to no end in the newer stereo DTS version.

Bond disapproves of the girl fight. I love Connery's reaction shot here.

I tend to not think of Red Grant as this film's henchman, but rather one of the main villains. Krilencu gets the honors of henchman, IMO.
I suppose the unseen Blofeld is this film's main villain. or maybe it's Rosa Klebb?
Bond prepares to assassinate Krilencu, but gives it to Kerim.
This is one scene in which I feel Connery best represents James Bond.

IMO, this film has the best performance by any actor in the role. As much as I love Daniel in CR, and Tim in TLD this is the film that to me best gives us Fleming's Bond brought to life.

Well, Fleming's Bond with Terence Young's flair.

    This film has great atmosphere.

While my TND and TWINE appreciation went up, my thoughts on DAD more or less have stayed the same. Really enjoy most of the first half, but the film nosedives at the ice palace and just keeps on getting worse from there. The CGI and obnoxious sped-up effects particularly bother me as style choices. Brosnan himself is great in it though. The PTS and Bond’s torture are well done (minus Madonna’s song). And the sword fight remains a nice series highlight for me. The fact it’s my least favorite in the series of 24 films and I still enjoy lots of aspects of it and watch it plenty is telling how much I adore this franchise!

Ohh, ooh, ooh can you feel it movin' smooth and slow..........

    FOR YOUR EYES ONLY

Just enough time before work to pop in a Bond that's under 3 hours.

009 on a ladder. Melina drives under him.

    NOT THAT LOW!!!!

My favorite car chase in the series.........................

    A Drive in the Country.

    Go backwards forwards quickly!

    Bond gives Q sh*t.
Sometimes Bond pops by Q branch merely to give Q a hard time.
In his spare time, on his days off, Bond is easily bored, so he drives over to Q branch just to heckle Q. Those are on days when Blades and his fave casino clubs are closed.

Here 007 happens to be on assignment and he needles Q while Boothroyd is trying to work.

I love that they stay super late after hours drinking coffee.

With the Bond/Melina romance discussions going on the other thread I felt compelled to pop this one in.

    PULL! EXTEEEEEEEEND YOUR AAAAAAAAAAAAARMS!

Bibi immediately has a thing for Bond. Lust at first sight.

Bond gets older, they stay the same age,

    Yes they do.

I firmly believe that Moore is playing Bond at his own age and not as a 33 year old agent.
Bond never retired at the mandatory age of 45 because he was too big an asset to the world's safety. Therefore M would officially fudge Bond's age each year to keep him in the double O section.

I love that Kristatos disses Luigi when he offers his hand to shake.

I love the carriage ride with Melina. Very romantic scene, IMO.
A great Roger moment right up there with the Anya scene.

Bibi sneaks into Bond's suite. Bond is not even remotely interested.

    Bibi and her cowboy hat.

I picture her watching THE DUKES OF HAZZARD on Friday nights in 1981, and listening to 8 tracks of Eddie Rabbitt or Glen Campbell in her car. In addition, she has a poster of a shirtless Burt Reynolds above her bed.

THAT's what Bond would have to look forward if he got involved with her, so he brushes her off by offering an ice cream cone instead.

Bond gets his ass kicked at the skating rink. He turns it around though and makes it humorous. However, it's not that funny.
Similarly, a powerless Superman would get his ass kicked that year in an intentionally disturbing sequence that I find hilarious.

Bond and Melina grub on some food while the background extras obviously stare at movie star Roger Moore.
Underrated casino sequence. Perhaps I should say overlooked casino sequence as it's rarely discussed. This is the first time we truly see Roger as Bond in this classic Bondian environment. I love the atmosphere of this sequence. I picture the casino sequences in the CR novel similar to this.

Bond and Kristatos dine. The waiter that serves Bond reminds me a bit of Henry Winkler in those days without the Fonzie hairdo.
Apostis thinks it's funny that Bond is about to get laid.
He should have seen Bibi flirting with Bond earlier if he really wanted a laugh.
The bathrobe Bond is wearing isn't much better than Connery's Flying Saucer bathrobe in NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN. That bathrobe looked just like the hotel suite furniture in DR NO.

I love the beach sequence. Reminds me of George Lazenby.

    Charles Dance.
I remember watching this film with a friend who kept repeating "Charles Dance wet his pants".
It was pretty immature for a guy in his forties. However, not as immature as me typing that and sharing it for the entire MI6 forum community.

Dance, IMO made an excellent Ian Fleming in the GOLDENEYE television bio pic. I really liked that film.
