Bond, dressed as a gorilla, checking his watch, always makes me smile!

To think stuntman Martin Grace was nearly killed doing these train stunts! Cubby made him coordinator on AVTAK!

This is the beginning of a genuinely suspenseful section. Bond racing against time! Really well put together by Glen!

I know some disprove of Bond dressed as a clown, but this sequence is brilliantly handled by John Glen

Dana Broccoli apparently loved how Jourdan says
    "Octopussy..Octopussy!"

And Bond and Octopussy sail off into the sunset.
And its a pity that Rog didnt leave it there. A fitting exit for him.
Still,I enjoyed every minute of this viewing!
    All Time High indeed!

    Rog needs a haircut!!

He's got quite the pompadour in this one. I quite like it, though he could give The Fonz a run for his money. Sir Roger's hair looks a bit like it did in the later SAINT episodes only without the shine.

Great write up of OP, @Mathis1.

I'm popping in THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH right now.

Got few hours before work and I want to see how I feel about this one compared to TND.

    Love the PTS.

Watched a recent Calvin Dyson video where talks about the various Christmas references in the Bond films. Somehow I never thought of this film as being set during Christmas time, but obviously it is.
    Love the Garbage title song.

Pierce looks really good in this one. I like the shorter haircut in him.
Actually I think his most Bondian haircut ever was in a film called DEATH TRAIN a.k.a. DETONATOR .
I loved that for a while, the Brosnan films were released every other year. IMHO, the quality always remained intact.
    That's arguable, though.

Sadly, I feel John Cleese has one of the poorest introductions to an intended new regular.
The banter between Q and "R" doesn't work for me. Seems Cleese's character is intended to be an idiot, yet also meant to eventually succeed Desmond. Not a good combination.
The ending of this scene is moving, though as a final goodbye to our beloved Desmond.

Bond is pining over Elektra even though he only watched a hostage video of her.
This film feels very John Gardner to me. Not that that's a bad thing. I quite like it, actually.
In fact, with the exception of CASINO ROYALE I'd say most of Barbara and Michael's films capture the spirit of some of the continuation novel authors rather than Fleming himself. Especially the Craig films. I could totally see Gardner coming up with a plot like SKYFALL for instance, or TWINE.

Bond's gray suit seems a little out of place today during his meeting with Elektra. I think a beige or tan would've worked better. Perhaps an outfit similar to Connery's during the Switzerland scenes in GOLDFINGER?
I believe the ski sequence is a Vic Armstrong directed action scene. Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

Elektra's panic attack during the avalanche bit is funnier than Stacey's screaming during the elevator shaft scene. In fact, by comparison I'd say Stacey Sutton kept her cool.

Now Elektra wants to bang Bond. For the moment he's not having it. He should've offered her some ice cream instead. That would've been a great call back.

Brosnan's blue sunglasses remind me of Gary Oldman's in BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA. Long live the '90's!

Okay that was a little exaggerated.

    I like Christmas Jones.

Why does Bond wave at that worker before his confrontation with Renard?

Bond's confrontation with Renard reminds me of the Blofeld scene in NTTD.
Bond tries to keep his composure and starts to lose his temper.
Who played this type of scene better? Brosnan or Craig?

Bond vs Elektra now. The thunder to accentuate the moment is a bit over done.
This scene was always funny to me. He snaps his fingers in her face, exaggerated line readings. Again I could make a NTTD comparison with a Madeleine moment where Bond is confronting her about her intentions.
Who did this scene better? Brosnan or Craig?

Elektra's villainy shines as M discovers the true culprit here. Instead of just slapping Elektra, it would've been cooler if M suddenly started kicking ass like Kara at the end of TLD. Judi Dench could've easily taken on Elektra's henchmen here.

M is blamed for the way Elektra turned out.
This will become a recurring theme in the Eon series where M is responsible for effing things up.
I'd be okay with this if it were Edward Fox's M who was the f*** up.

Bond's key ring releases the parking brake and gear shift. My late girlfriend thought that bit was funny. I laughed, too.
I love the caviar factory scene. Considering this film attempted a more serious tone with fallible characters, there is a lot of fun here as well.
