Personally I wouldn't like the series to end yet! I do understand why they are taking their time! It's going to be very difficult to present Bond for a modern audience, and to follow Craig, ( despite the films wavering, he was outstanding as 007) but I for one love all the pre-production, and then the anxious wait for the premiere, there is no other franchise or film that gets me stoked as much as Bond!
Excellent points @Mathis1 and @Fire_and_Ice_Returns.
One of the reasons that I haven't really posted in the "Where does Bond go after Craig" thread, is that .... I don't really know.
I don't envy the task that EON has before them: juggling the artistic direction of Bond's future while having to adjust to an environment where the economics of the film industry are ever changing. As I've said, I do think that Bond 26 will happen (and I think the odds are better than 50/50 that it will be a success), but as to when that will happen (or if I'll be around for it), is hard to say.
I hardly comment in the Where Does Bod go After Craig Bond thread. I believe my last comment in that thread, I felt we may have to wait for the books to go public domain before we see another film. I was half joking, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Also I want the series to go back to basics with less cgi and less bloated budgets.
I have booked next weekend off, I could maybe do a group watchalong sometime on Sunday?
Tbh i think a new Bond should take into account modern geopolitics, and it's obvious where we can find an enemy. The modern world, the west, needs a hero like Bond, but producers are no doubt weary of doing so and thus making the market (china) smaller.
My idea of going back to the source material is hamstrung by modern sensibilities, new films commenting on modern events is hamstrung by not wanting to offend anyone... on the surface at least.

I was thinking the other day of a mini version of this thread as my commentary's often end early... Bond pre titles sequences whilst you watch lol
I could do a watchalong around 6pm tomorrow! That's Irish time 😁
Since there seems to be a lot of comment around TMWTGG, may I suggest that! If not, possibly one that wouldn't normally figure in these things, maybe SP? I'm easy though if someone has a preference fora certain Bond film!?
6pm and TMWTGG sounds like a plan, I have watched a few Christopher Lee Hammer films recently so happy to see the great man again as Bond's kind of nemesis lol
Great, I'll be there! Hopefully we can get a few others to join, if they're happy with the choice!
I am sure the choice will be fine its a good movie to start with, a lot to praise and a lot to comment on what might of been with TMWTGG, the film was an end of a era and it showed.
Great stuff its been a few years since I watched it also.
Like @Fire_and_Ice_Returns , I haven't watched TMWTGG in ages and it wouldn't be my first choice. However, that maybe the best reason to watch it: I'm not overly familiar with it.
6pm BST converts to 1:00pm EST for me, which is great. See everyone tomorrow (unless I find something else to "chew" on :) ).
That is great @Dwayne, I am debating whether to watch my digital copy or Bluray. I do love the menu's for the Bluray I will probably go with the physical copy of the film.

I probably first saw TMWTGG when it appeared on ABC TV back in 1982.
“da plane boss, da plane!”

I was just telling my fiancee about that line.
We can all count down...............
