Have to agree re: Afghanistan in TLD. Slows down considerably, may as well be Jewel of the Nile.

Ladies choice...so we're kicking back to watch Goldfinger. My partner's first time seeing it!

I once did GF and LALD as a double-bill. Interesting viewing (GF won).

The opening is so cool, I've gone on about it many times before but I love it. The 'shocking' line raises a genuine laugh from my better half. She digs the theme tune too.

I love the welcome to Miami entrance - that music is a gas!

'It's very easy for him isn't it?' She says after Bond seduces Jill!

'They had time to paint her?' - bond must really have been knocked out for a while!

'This looks like the most boring game ever'...yes we're at the golf game. She's amused by Goldfinger's golf clothes though!

'This guy's crazy!' After oddjob slices the statue and crushes the golf ball.

Hey Guy - How about a bit of '007 theme' in that scene when Bond and Tilly are driving around?

'Very smart James Bond, very smart' my partner says when Bond escapes getting his nads lasered.

'So he's like a super rich spoilt brat who loves all the gimmicks?' My partner asks about Goldfinger when he flips over the pool table at the 'hood's convention'

I agree with Barry's early post that Connery looks the business in the clothing department in this film. I want that grey three piece.

Sean looks bad ass. Even when being scolded by M.

Love's M's expression as Bond starts to raise his voice to him. Bernard Lee is indeed the only M I think could possibly kick Bond around the block if he so wanted to. Edward Fox need not apply.

"I won't keep you for more than an hour or so if you give me your undivided attention"

    Bond's expression is great.

The great thing about Lee's M was that he was a lovable character. A bit brusque but very endearing as well. Some of that is due to his appearance, some of it is his manner and a lot of it is due to his acting. He could show frustration and sarcasm without it becoming offensive or offputting.

It is impossible for me to read a Bond book without picturing Lee as M.

Bernard Lee is virtually flawless in the role.

I think he even upstages Roger during his first scene in LALD.

    I miss that dynamic.

Fox was great at who he was supposed to be; an officious unwanted bureaucrat, taking over for Bond's beloved Miles.

Very true. I do like Fox's M actually, but really he was a completely different character. Lee is the only M that to me completely represents the character from the novels.

Some of his sarcasm is quite funny. His "Oh thank you, 007!" in MR after Roger pierces the painting is priceless.

Titles- the ladies seem to all be in bikinis and bathing suits. Perhaps Binder was attempting something new?
