T-Minus 3.5 months if you consider the UK release date...

We're still four months away in the UK. 26th October, yet it's just the 27th June.

My mistake. For some reason, I had mixed up the US and UK release dates and thought '9th October!'

    It’s getting close…

I thought it would be fun if we discussed what we are going to do to celebrate Skyfall’s release. Be it watch the movies, catch up with some Fleming, or maybe listed to some Bond music etc.

Firstly the Bond films; I watched Die Another Day, The Living Daylights, The Man With The Golden Gun and Dr No in June. I just watched Octopussy, and are planning to watch two Bond films, per month until October, then I’ll watch Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace to get me in the mood for Skyfall.

Secondly, the Bond music, particularly John Barry’s scores, of course. That will be in September/October.

Thirdly re-read all my Fleming books, plus a host of Bond bibles; e.g. Martins, Girls and Guns (excellent book by the way), Bond on Set etc.

That way I shall be ready for Skyfall.

Or I’ll be sick of Bond by the time October comes around!

What are you going to do in the coming months, peeps?

    :-B

I plan on working out a schedule where I watch one Bond film a night, in a row, leading up to the night before or day of SF's release. I'm sure it will get messed up somehow because of my two jobs and being in college, but I'll do my best.
  • Carol is sooooo last year, see what the old codgers are into at the mo:

I fancy a bit of countdown too.

It's always the way isn't it. Best laid plans, and what not....

I forgot to say, I'll be watching the "behind Bond" documentary, on the special edition DVD. Well up until Licence To Kill that is.

    ;)

It's a great idea, but I know something will happen to screw it up. Too busy, too much studying, etc.

I've been watching the films, just finished OHMSS. Roughly one a week but I'll just watch them when I feel like it till september then cram in the remaining few

I'm watching one Bond film a week now but I've got to buy some paperback Flemings (budget that in) and re-read the novels. That will be great! And right before Skyfall I am watching my very favorite Bond films in a row: Dr. No, From Russian With Love, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale (and probably throw in QOS, too - not my fav but brings me up to date) ... then Skyfall in the theatre two weekends in a row. That's probably all I can manage because the movies shown here in my area of Japan are usually only in English dialog for about 2 weeks, maybe 3. About $20 a pop. But I'll go every weekend its in English. Although, I do have to wait until the first week of DECEMBER to see it at all. Sigh ...
But really getting excited now. :)

I've just had a rush of excitement thinking how close we are now getting to the new bond movie Skyfall. Most of the time it is ticking away in the background but once in a while it hits home

@myworldisenough, exact same thing just happened to me hours ago! I realized that July is under way, before we know it, I'll be back to school for RA training, and September will hit when classes first start. And for me, SF will be merely two months away. And it feels like yesterday that SF was going to start filming in eight months.

Thought about having one martini a day with my countdown, but nixed it as I really don't like the drink (shudders to admit that). I am considering playing the lottery in the hopes of funding a trip to the London premiere (and that has as much chance as me becoming the next president of the U.S.A.). Sure wish I could be in London then!

I realized that I really want to do some kind of marathon leading up to the release of Skyfall. Having rewatched every Bond film countless times I decided to do a Sam Mendes marathon. One film directed by Sam Mendes every week.

    Next friday: American Beauty.
