I don't want to sound like too much of a fanboy, but I could see myself going to cinema twice a week to watch this movie, when it comes out, until it leave theatres. It seems to be shaping up to be a perfect re-visitation of the classic Uncle vibe.
If only Bond could make effort to rediscover the '60s style and flair, I'd flock to cinema for multiple Bond viewings as well, instead of the two or three obligatory visits and then wait for the blu-ray. And I'm not talking about a period piece.
Uncle seems determined to prove that it is possible to capture the style and charm of the original brilliance, 40-50 years later.
  • David McCallum says he won’t be in U.N.C.L.E. movie

While David will celebrate the new film he seems certain he doesn't want to part of it :(

    I agree Timmer.

Laney, David has never been much of cheerleader for UNCLE.

Meanwhile, BLUE BOLT VFX has joined U.N.C.L.E.

Todays 2nd unit Wales location seems to be at the Sweet Lamb road complex (more racing?) near Aber. This seems to be where they have been having so much problem with the rain.
  • A new Man From UNCLE page on Facebook has turned up. It describes itself as the official FB page of the original series.

Interesting...... Looks like a Warner Bros Studios page.

Yes. Warner Bros. has been putting up Facebook pages for other shows in its library. The formatting for this new UNCLE page looks similar to this FB page for a Warner Bros. show:

Both have the icon that links to other WB shows, etc.

David Beckham joined UNCLE today in a cameo. It was months ago this rumor started to float around but now it's a done deal.

Still not confirmed though, there are conflicting reports that it may be for Matthew Vaughn's Secret Service, he was rumoured for both but only has Secret Service on his IMDb.

"They need a good lead, otherwise the movie will bomb. I don't think the UNCLE brand is strong enough to carry the movie on its own. It needs star power. Bradley Cooper I think would guarantee success. "

Just don't mention The Lone Ranger to Army War Hammer! He's still recovering from that film.

Couple more weeks till filming ends, Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer have come across as more than capable to fill the roles with Guy Ritchie at the helm and a low budget of 75 million it should do well at the box office.

    Thanks for the photos Laney.

    Also from Laney:

Looks like Cavill has been SCUBA certified and has been working in the studio water tank. Looks like some scuba diving for Solo. Something else Bond has not done in while.

Bradley Cooper does nothing for me. I'm glad Cavill is in this role and I wish him well.
    Great pictures; thanks. :)

I dunno, Bradley Cooper might have been one of my first choices. He's a very good actor and I think might have been ideally suited for Solo. He's got that smooth charm and twinkle in the eye.
But that aside, Cavill seems to be pulling it together quite well and with a capable director like Ritchie, I think we might get the max out of his performance.

Well, just as a woman, I am not in the slightest attracted to Bradley Cooper. Cavill a bit more so and I think he can look elegant.

Man you are fussy. I though Bradley was a chick magnet. Jennifer Garner sure loved him in the old Alias TV series. :x

Shh, don't say that too much or my girlfriend will see it and throw a hissy fit. :)) she's always drooling over him, yet when I bring up Eva Mendes or Emily Browning, I'm in the dog house. I'm glad Cavill is in this instead of him.

Entertainment Weekly has an update on the feature which talks about how savage one the fights between Solo and Alexander in a rain drenched forest is going to be.

Laney is on top of it as usual. Also from her site............ Cavill has wrapped filming and UNCLE looks like a 2014 release at this time.

From LaneyBoggs: Armie has finished up as Illya today.

On the U.N.C.L.E. humanitarian side of things, the UNCLE crew raised over £2,000 in Philippine disaster relief by selling "Man from U.N.C.L.E." t-shirts.

Kuznetsov, 3 posts above, looks like a classic spyfy genre villain. :)

Principal production has wrapped on the U.N.C.L.E. feature. The next big news will be..... who the composer is and the release date.
I hope the composer and the filmmakers have the sense to pound the heck out of the classic Uncle theme song. It's almost as good as the James Bond Theme, thus should be fully exploited.

News alert!! Amazon Canada has a good price on Complete Man From Uncle TV series Briefcase set. Its jammed with extras and includes original colour pilot plus one of the cinema releases. Must buy.
It's a prized possession along with my Bond movie collection.
