I was trying to remember his better roles ... I know he had the reputation of being one of the finest actors of his generation (hailed as that during the 60's). I hope his part is small, juicy, relevant and either fun or darkly sinister. He can do both.

If Finney is in BOND 23, then I won't credit Bamigboye with breaking the news.
    Even though he did?

If true, this gives us a nice little bit of trivia. Finney starred in 1960's Saturday Night And Sunday Morning, which was Executive Produced by one Harry Saltzman.

As you mention that maybe we should be looking for other connections from members of the rumoured cast, such as Bardem and Harris.

I don't think anything will beat that one though, good catch Major!

I've had to look at Harris' IMDB page (i'm not familiar with her work), and I can see some connections. There's 2 which lead back to Brosnan. And a 3rd, possibly tenious one, which leads back to OHMSS.

I am guessing that was a typing error; he meant he would credit Bamigboye.

Not a typing error. I despise tabloids. They're like ambulance-chasers and politicians.
    Even though he did?
The tabloids throw rumours about frequently. They're bound to get something right sooner or later, but it's more likely to be because of blind luck rather than any actual feat of journalism. Tabloids will publish whatever they think will get them more readers. With the sheer amount of talent in BOND 23's cast and crew - Craig, Bardem, Dench, Mendes, Logan, Deakins and possibly Fiennes - the latest run of stories suggests that the film is aiming for an Oscar, or trying to attract Oscar-quality talent. The natural extension of that is to find another Oscar-quality actor to add to the cast.

However "reliable" Bamigboye is, he's a bottom-feeder. He's the lowest form of journalist - a yellow journalist - and doesn't deserve half the attention he gets.

I did not say that at all. I will not give Bamigboye credit, because he deserves none. He is consistently feeding us crap and telling us it is gravy. I can't respect that, and because I can't respect it, I can't give him credit.

For Gods sake give it a rest. This is more than tedious.
Shadow, you're not expected to agree with everyone or everything, but arguing over every minute detail all the time is freakin' boring.
Live and let live, agree to disagree...let it go.

    EDIT -

As for the rumoured casting of Albert Finney, then I must say it sounds good. Always love his acting, that unmistakable voice and great talent. A great win for EON if this is true.

Risico007 clearly misinterpreted what I had said. I felt the need to clarify my comments (and provide a reason as to why I felt that way), lest I be misrepresented in the event that Finney is in BOND 23, and forum members asked me to offer credit to Bamigboye when I had made it plain that I would not. I'm simply trying to head off a potential problem in the next few days, whereby people might bring up my misinterpreted comments as an example of me supposedly contradicting myself.

What is silly is that, you're hating on the guy simply by association. The man has proved reliable more often than not in the past and he's the first person to deliver the alleged news that AF is in Bond 23. If AF is in Bond 23, one, that's not the sort of casting one simply pulls out of their fart hole and two, Baz deserves credit for breaking the news wether you like it or not. Your logic on this matter and amongst other things is so irritatingly flawed.

He also carefully writes his articles in such a way that he never commits to anything - he has all sorts of loopholes so that if he is proven wrong, he can say "well, I never actually said that - you just read too much into it".

But if the Finney news is right, he won't write any of that, as he was correct.

Let's see if Finney is in Bond 23 first, eh? Then we can start throwing accessions around.

Of course not. He'll take credit for what he gets right, and push the blame on anything he gets wrong. He doesn't have the spine to stick by what he prints.

Hey, Shadow, as you despise tabloids so much here's another rumour which is totally fabricated, and not written by the more "trustworthy" Baz Bamigboye...

"SEXY actress Megan Fox is being lined up to star opposite Daniel Craig in the next Bond movie.

The 23rd Bond film has the go-ahead after more than a year of delays.

Craig, 43, has confirmed this will be his last outing as the secret agent.

Transformers actress Fox, 25, is a personal favourite of Sam Mendes, one of the film’s directors.

An insider said, “Megan is everything required of a good Bond girl – sexy, mysterious and feisty.”

When asked if she would ever appear in a 007 movie she said, “I would never pass on a franchise like that. Those are legendary, iconic movies. That’s obviously something I’d love to do.”

Actors Ralph Fiennes, 48, and Javier Bardem, 42, have also been cast for the new film which will see Bond trying to uncover an illegal organisation that controls the world."

Albert Finney in Bond 23? Yes, please!

Megan Fox in Bond __? Please, God, no! Fox is so overrated in terms of looks, and her acting is atrocious. She is the complete opposite of what we need as a Bond girl.

Bond 23 is awaiting full casting and the start of the new movie is eagerly anticipated by Bond Fans. Today it was announced that Albert Finney will join the cast as "M", James Bond's boss. Finney replaces Judi Dench, who has played the Bond superior in several films and has previously been reported to be cast for this film.

Tuesday's announcement was met with enthusiasm by fans, who are awaiting the official Bond 23 press conference on November 3, kicking off the principal photography for the film.

Albert Finney is well equipped for this role and fans may recognise him from his roles in the Bourne Ultimatum, and is rumored to be cast in the Bourne Legacy. Finney also played in 'Erin Brockovich'. For a complete list of films check out his biographical sketch. Finney with his years of accomplishments, should bring a richness to this role of 'M'.

At this point the film's name has not been officially chosen and begs the question, "Will the film's name be 'Skyfall'?"

Cast members so far are confirmed with Daniel Craig as Bond of course, Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem. The film is rumoured to cost between $135 and 230 million to produce. Today's announcement of Albert Finney as M is a relief to many, as it shows that the film is still moving foward in a great direction.

Yeah, right, they are going to replace 77 year old Judi Dench with 75 year old with Albert Finney. Pure fabrication.

Finney will appear in the movie but not as M.

He's MI6's, therefore M's, boss and will play a Foreign Office mandarin with powers over the Secret Intelligence Service. We already know he role.

What a great made-up story. In some strange way I love them. It shows us Bond is still popular.

Here you go :) Must say, I like the sound of this much better. Not ready to let Judi go just yet. Ahh - isn't it Thursday yet?

According to the Daily Mail he joins fellow Brits Daniel Craig, Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes, as well as Spaniard Javier Bardem, in what could be the most talented cast in the history of the franchise.

Finney, 75, will play a high ranking intelligence official, with powers that the Mail speculates include supervisory duties over M, played by Dench.
