  • Been thinking that may be a possibility, too.
Regarding what year the story takes place; one could maybe just ask the author on Twitter…?

    Please do Torgeirtrap.

I think that Horowitz will leave the reveal of the year until the book is published.

I am guessing 50/51 as well. It will be after Bond has done his 2 "00" kills,, and will quite possibly lead directly into Casino Royale.

As for the Fleming material, all I can guess is that there was to be a story of Bond's initiation into the 00 section in the tv show. But we shall see!

I think the ending will have Bond entering
The casino, as a set up for the opening
    Line in Casino Royale.

I wonder if all these materials Fleming had developed will ever be relaunched for a potential James Bond TV series one day by some production however possible that could be to initiate. I for one would love those to occur.

I would like to see whatever material that is left published in a book!

You are probably right about that.

As I said in another thread - my dream is for a Netflix series, period Bond, faithful adaptations of the novels, 2 novels a season.

As long as Eon are making the films I doubt there will be a Bond TV series.

Wouldn't be against that myself, either. They can have Horowitz write it! He already got plenty of experience with period crime dramas with Foyle's War.

Foyle's War also had a few episodes delving into the world of espionage. Quality stuff!

Great show! I did a count of Bond actors while going through the entire series, as I have done with COLUMBO, etc. (I don't remember the result).

Interesting! Off the top of my head: Michael Kitchen (of course), Charles Dance, Rosamund Pike…and that's all who I can think of. Sure there are more. Also quite a few actors/actresses that have appeared in other spy related shows, like Samuel West, who played Anthony Blunt in Cambridge Spies.

PussyNoMore has long been an enthusiastic advocate for this strategy albeit he fears that mybudgetbond is correct and the possibility of this happening is close to zero whilst eon are making their parody movies.

They’ve had plenty of opportunity to relax their hold with the likes of ‘Young Bond’ and the excellent ‘Moneypenny Diaries ‘ but have always demurred.

Sad in a way because what they do is about as close to literary Bond as a fish is to a dog and certainly a correct screen incarnation - using the long form - would only enhance the value of the brand and give them two revenue streams.

Still, what does boring old Pussy know ? He prefers books anyway.

Exciting news this being a pre Casino Royale yarn. I wonder if Horowitz has read Pearson’s Bond biography as well. I won’t be surprised if he hasn’t.

I like the title - mysterious and catchy.

If this book is as good as Trigger Morris I’ll be happy. If it’s even better, this’ll be the icing on the cake.

Can't seem to detect anything on Horowitz's twitter page or the IFB pages on various social media sites.

Anyways, it's an awful cover if it's an official one. Looks more like a Tourist's guidebook than a novel. I miss the old days when proper care was given and put into the cover artwork alone. Nowadays, it's all cheap snapshots and easily photoshopped minimalist content anybody could do.

It's part of the listing on Amazon UK.

I agree with @ClarkDevlin that it's a very generic cover but I'm surmising that the ship/boat is meant to symbolise a bullet ripping through the air? That is at least something a little different.

That was what I thought too but I think they should have been a bit more overt with it (work a gun firing it in somehow?).

Not going to make my mind up on the cover until I see it more closely. A bullet ripping through the air was what I was thinking too, and the typography is solid. Also interesting to see how it ties up with the story. That can make all the difference for me, wether I like it or not.

The hook on the website started with "007 lies dead in the waters of (wherever it was)". So my guess is it'll be the villains boat, the original 007 will be killed on it (or with it? Maybe they throw him off turn around and run him over) and left for dead at the start, and Bond will probably find himself on there at some point when he's sent to replace him.

Sometimes I think less is more though with Bond covers or they become too much of a generic thriller cover. It's like what they did with the Never Send Flowers covers with a dragonfly hovering over a blood-tipped rose.

Wouldn't be surprised if something like this is the connection with the boat. Quite like that idea, really.

Less is more is usually the way to go, most of the time. Some of the Fleming first editions (and other editions, too) are also minimalistic.

We also haven't seen the full dust jacket for Forever and a Day. Can be some interesting details we don't see in this preview image.

I’ve given up in hoping for creative, interesting book covers. As long as the story is good then I’ll be happy...although a good book cover would be an added treat.

For sure they forgot the line "that you can't read here cause it will be no even inclued for no reason" after the "with original material of IF"...

Will somebody please tell PussyNoMore that this abomination of a cover is just IFP & Cape having a giraffe at the fans expense and that the real thing will be revealed in due course?
It’s either that or everybody associated with the artistic end of this project has had their taste buds surgically extracted at birth !
PussyNoMore is suffering from anaphylactic shock.

PussyNoMore would like to propose that we crowd fund the fabulous Fay Weldon to rush over to Cape to fix this problem.
We should also lobby book sellers to boycott the release until we have a solution.
Can PussyNoMore have your support with this crucial initiative.
Bond forever - bad taste never!
