Continuation Novel - SkyFall ?

edited November 2011 in News Posts: 1
Since there is no conflict with this title and any of the published works should there be a published novel for this title ??

Which is not quite true, they could easily get around and call it James Bond and the Moonraker which would identify the novelisation quite easily for what it is.

They didnt do QoS either so don't keep your hopes up.

Quantum Of Solace had the tie-in short story though. There may be something for SkyFall but we'll have to wait a while longer I feel.

Somebody (probably me) will write a fanfic novelization.

The question is: do we need novelizations? Most of those fail tremendously. What the film cannot communicate, can be expanded upon in a novel - I agree. However, I gave both GE and TWINE a shot ten years ago, and I didn't really like them. Once you've seen the film a gazillion times, I predict most novelizations are a waste of time.

Indeed. Its not like the continuation author can explore extra plot threads, or even change any of the details. It's just the film in the form of a novel.

Let's just say I only once read a novelization that I found worthy of the effort and that was Isaac Asimov's slightly reluctant take on Fantastic Voyage. He had some serious plot holes to fill and he at least managed to do that. As for the Bond novelizations, a big no-no for me.

I happened to enjoy LTK's novelization. GoldenEye's wasn't "bad", but wasn't good. The TND novelization was and on again/off again where you'd get a chapter that was faithful to the film, then one that wasn't, then one that was again, then another that wasn't. The TWINE novelization added tidbits that didn't even seem relevant to the movie (I'm sorry, I do not find the cigar girl to be that important to the plot) and the DAD novelization's main problem was that it followed DAD's plot.

I have an unfinished fanfic novelization of Casino Royale up on Fanfiction.net, should anyone want to read it (advertizing!).

The great novelisations of the 007 series are TSWLM & MR, the writer Christopher Wood did do a very good job. I still read those sometimes.
