This arrived for me on Saturday (2 days before it was meant to be released over here).

Absolutely fantastic film, and i'm so disappointed it's been left out of most of the major awards this season!

My thoughts remain. It's not the perfect movie of either genres, but it's still entertaining enough to watch.

    The Bone Collector (1999)

  • I picked up today (along with aforementioned Bond films) 48 hrs and Highlander from a second hand store going for almost nothing at all, they had a few more titles but I wasn't that interested, also the first five Star Trek releases in a boxed gift set at a reasonable price but we already own three of them, so it really wasn't worth buying the entire set, they soon come around again

Hilarious WWII comedy/adventure and a strong contender for my favorite Danny Kaye film:

    on_the_double_1961.jpg

Great support from Dana Wynter, Wilfrid Hyde-White, Margaret Rutherford and Miss Diana Dors.

Sherlock holmes (2009 guy ritchie version), and south park: bigger, longer and uncut are the last one's I bought. The last one I watched though was the guard (awesome film btw).

It's a fun one. And l like how they bill her as "Miss Diana Dors" like she's "Miss Barbara Stanwyck" on The Big Valley or something.

If you're a Ginger Rogers fan, I recommend this one:

    once-upon-a-honeymoon-cary-grant-ginger-rogers-1942.jpg

Despite its title, it's actually a combination of screwball comedy and WWII spy adventure film. One critic called it a combination of "It Happened One Night" and "Notorious". That's a pretty fair description of it.
    8XfZ.jpg

Be sure to post a review of that one after you see it. At least one critic called it "Dr. No in Stockholm".

Of course, the important question is- "Superman II: The Donner Cut or the Lester Cut?"

I think that's the first time i've seen her billed like that. :-?

i have to admit, it had been years and years since I had seen this movie - and I bought it just based on my opinions when i last watched it (probably at the age of 8)... having just rewatched it for the first time in almost 20 years, i really enjoyed it - far more than the recent Russell Crowe movie..... yes, it takes extreme liberties with the Robin Hood legend - but it's still a great flick, and has probably one of the best 'romantic' songs that i've heard.

I do admit, the extended version adds a bit more depth to the Sheriff's plot to unseat King Richard - but it's a bit weird..... i wont spoil it for those that haven't seen the extended version.

Please do. I'm a big fan of the Donner cut.

Are you referring to memento? it has a very easy to find easter egg on the special edition which allows you to watch it chronologically. :) not had chance to watch it yet, have a few days off may have a look tomorrow.

If you like Mitchum, do see it. He has (I've been told) a perfect accent and attitude galore. He and Kerr are terrific. Just a good story, too.
