@LeonardPine, agreed! That movie is batshit insanity, and I always have a lot of fun with it. I still get chills with the radio station closet scene, when she flicks on the light and the chainsaw immediately kicks on as he runs after her.

    Agreed @Creasy47

One of the best jump-scares ever! Gets me every time even though I know its coming!

By the way, what did you think of the 2003 Chainsaw remake?

The 2003 remake is one of my favorites in the series, I won't lie. Typically, horror remakes are garbage, but this one is filled with a lot of tense moments, great cinematography, and some really inventive kills. All the prequels that came after that, though, I don't care for, especially the latest one that was filled with a cheesy, predictable twist and a lot of CG gore.

Yeah, it's a decent film but it makes the fatal mistake of giving Leatherface a backstory, taking all the mystery and savagery out of the character.

@LeonardPine, that seems to be a big 'horror movie' staple lately; look at Rob Zombie's 'Halloween' movies, too: way too much backstory, takes away from the mystery and ominous ambiance of the films.

Oh god I made the mistake of watching his Halloween remake. One of the dumbest remakes ever. We don't know why Michael Myers is like he is in the original. That's the appeal of the character that seems to have alluded Mr Zombie!

Shame, as I quite liked House of a Thousand Corpses and The Devil's Rejects.

@LeonardPine, as did I. Off the top of my head, those are the only two Zombie films that I enjoy, though I am interested in seeing '31' as soon as I get the chance.

'The Devil's Rejects' ending is probably one of my favorite movie endings. Too damn cool.

Can't beat a bit of Lynyrd Skynyrd Free Bird ! In fact the whole soundtrack is pretty cool!

Agreed on the TCM remake. Not quite on par with the original, but still one of the better films in the series, same with the 2006 prequel.

One of the toughest horror scenes for me to watch is in that remake, when Leatherface is dragging the one male victim down the stairs, and we get that slow-motion, brutal closeup of him grabbing at the walls as his fingernails all rip off. Whew.

While it lacks the sweaty, grubby feeling of the original, it makes up for it with moments like that.

I have the 40th Anniversary Edition blu-ray of that one coming in the mail, been a few years since I've seen it so I can't wait to see how it looks in HD.

The original? Rarely do I buy BR's, my copy of TCM, is the Special Edition DVD from 2003.

@MajorDSmythe, yes, the original - I've somehow never owned it in any format, and they released a 40th Anniversary Edition back in 2014, so I figured it was finally time I bought it.

EDIT: My Halloween shopping continues. Had to pick up some blu-rays on eBay, couldn't pass up a ridiculous sale. I grabbed 'Session 9,' 'The Shallows,' 'Sleepaway Camp,' and 'Manhunter.'

    For some reason, The Satanic Rites Of Dracula still hasn't had an R2 release, while The Legend Of The 7 Golden Vampires has. 8-}

SATANIC RITES is public domain in R1. Most copies are there are fairly cheap and scratchy looking.

Ah, that would explain it. Damn shame that it hasn't had a proper release. It's an interesting mashup between contemporary 70's Dracula, and a spy thriller. I really like that one.

I really, really wanted to see THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA when it came out, but I was only 6 or 7 years old.

The ONLY Lee Dracula film I ever saw in the theatre was Dracula AD 1972... fond memory.

I would have loved to have seen any Lee Drac in the theatre. I do believe SATANIC RITES was dropped by Warners after AD 1972, sat around on the shelf and wasn't released in The States until 1978 under the title: COUNT DRACULA AND HIS VAMPIRE BRIDE. Some DVD copies contain that title.

This coming wednesday I will buy 'X Men Apocalypse' and 'Captain America Civil War' on Blu Ray. I'll only need 'Suicide Squad' and 'Doctor Strange' once they are available to complete my 2016 Superhero collection. 2017 will be mental, between Spiderman, Justice League, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, Wolverine and Wonder Woman. On top of a good 30+ action films I'm already aching to get a hold of.

I take it the American's decided to call it Stairway to Heaven (they have to be so literal), what's wrong with A Matter of Life and Death as a title?

Well, they did that for James Bond too, remember ?

I always knew the film as A Matter of Life and Death, the recent remaster I got has the same duel title poster as above, I can never understand why films have multiple titles. I recall Van Damme's
A.W.O.L. having several completely different titles, also Edge of tomorrow's none commitment to just one title may have damaged it's box office.
