Okay I want to post these as placeholders to improve on with research (I have done some) and feedback.

Surprising for Connery and the 60s.

I remember that the music that plays as we first see the Eiffel Tower in AVTAK is from another previous John Barry score, I think...?

Not sure if it's directly lifted from the soundtrack - but the theme itself is a little easter egg from the film 'Until September' which Barry scored the year before (also set in Paris). There is at least one other small John Barry Easter egg reference if you know where to look in DAF! ;)

That’s it, thank you. I can’t think which bit of DAF you mean. Some of the circus source maybe.

While we're on the subject doesn't Barry use a bit of his soundtrack for the spy film The Quiller Memorandum (1966) in The Living Daylights too?

Not that I’m aware of? Can you be more specific?

I'd have to watch the film again but I know there's a short bit that's the same as a bit in TLD. I'm due a rewatch so I'll look out for it.

I've never spotted that. There's certainly a little tune he reuses (or maybe he just composed again and didn't realise) from Octopussy (Bond at Monsoon Palace) which turns up in TLD's pre-credits.

Yes, I've noticed that one myself. The bit in The Quiller Memorandum is quite short too but noticeable if you've seen The Living Daylights first.
